On the 10th anniversary of 911, I wrote this about my recollections of that awful day.
Earlier in 2011, the architect of the attacks had met his end in Abbottabad in Pakistan.
Of course, the death of Bin Laden should probably have been an excellent time to take a pause and look at what was the actual mission in Afghanistan.
However, the military-industrial complex got another profitable decade out of it.
In the initial period after the September 11th attacks, the media was full of this kind of dangerous pish.
The truth was more prosaic, and Bin Laden was eventually tracked down to a compound incriminatingly close to Pakistan’s equivalent of West Point.
The Al-Qaeda leader had good reason to think that he was protected.
So Saudi hijackers connected to the Pakistan intelligence community carried out the attacks, yet the White House discussion was that Iraq would be the main event.
Consequently, going into Afghanistan was a tiresome chore.
Moreover, it was doomed to fail.
I wrote this piece for Magill in the week after 911, and I think it stands the test of time.
The final days of the Coalition footprint at Kabul airport gave the world new images that the Jihadis will undoubtedly take heart from.
I found that the parallels with the exit from Vietnam were impossible to ignore.
The 911 operation was the opening salvo in a new kind of warfare.
The Pentagon had all the tools to oppose the USSR, but they struggled to come to grips with a Messianic ideology.
Indeed, it was a world view that they had helped to cultivate during the Cold War.
The freedom-loving Mujahideen would morph into the hated Taliban.
Twenty years ago today, the global village witnessed the beginning of a Third Wave war that Alvin Toffler envisaged.
Rather like the Fallschirmjäger landing their gliders on Fort Eben Emael in 1940, the hijackers, armed only with boxcutters, re-imagined a transcontinental flight into a guided missile.
After 911, nothing was the same afterwards.

Here on Ireland’s west coast, we have a saying that “the next parish is America”.
Many parts of Manhattan are home to the Irish.
Although the Brits go on about the special relationship with the USA, the real connections are on this small island.
My thoughts are with the families of those who lost loved ones that day.
Compare the English tracking down and eliminating Nazis who performed atrocities against Brits unconvicted or not even tried at Nuremburg-there being more than a few.
A squad (SAS I think ) got a list of targets and eliminated every last one.

The Us also laundered many low level ss camp guards here (we turn up 2 or 3 every second decade or so and try them.
Pretty sure Canada was not the only country that accepted those types from the US during the Cold War but I dont know that .Do know we laundered far too many though.
I use the laundering advisedly -same thing as money laundering .
Take a low level SS operative who may or may not have committed atrocities slip them cross border to get citizenship here then Hey presto respectable Canadian Citizens
Of couse they duly swore they wernt in the SS during the war and nobody bothered to check their arms for the usual tattoo.
Well Ironically for them lying on the offical forms is grounds to rescind the Canadian citizenship and passport at the lowest end
When Israelis lost athletes at Munich their secret service was similarly tasked and dealt with the assailants and the planners -all of them .
When it becomes known who was behind and aided 9/11 from the US crickets just Never forget .

Osama bin Laden was never indicted for the crime of 9/11 , when asked why the CIA responded by saying that there is no evidence linking him to that event.
Bill Cooper was a US radio show host , 3 months before 9/11 he told his listeners that they were setting up bin Laden as the patsy for a terrorist attack that would soon hit the US , He urged his listeners not to believe it. 3 months after 9/11 the police arrived at Coopers home and shot him dead. His warning can still be found on youtube if you search Bill Cooper predicts 9/11.
The day before 9/11 Donald Rumsfeld told us that they couldn’t account for $2.3 Trillion overspend at the Pentagon , the next day the Naval accounts office was destroyed in the Pentagon attack..They have recently revealed the cost of the war in Afghanistan it was $2.26 Trillion.
The testimony of transport secretary Norman Mineta at the 9/11 enquiry revealed that a young intern warned Dick Cheney of an approaching plane , the plane is 70 miles out ….pause….50 miles out….the warnings continued until he said the plane is 10 miles out do the orders still stand? Of course they still stand said Cheney have you heard anything to the contrary ? There was an automatic shoot down order in place for anything airborne entering a 10 mile exclusion zone around the most heavily defended building in the World . We don’t know what that order was but we do know nothing was shot down and no warning to staff to take to shelters were given . My friend Troy from Alabama lost his brother in that attack.
Major General Albert Stubblebine head of all US military intelligence (ret) stated that NO plane hit the Pentagon , he later said he believed it was a missile after studying the photographic evidence.
5 men dressed in Arab clothes were arrested that morning after a lady witnessed them on top of a roof filming the attacks and celebrating as the explosions occurred . They spent 72 days in custody before Michael Chertoff head of homeland security ordered their release. They then appeared 3 days later on Israeli tv admitting they were Mossad agents and had been sent to NY “to document the event” This in itself is an admission of prior knowledge of the attacks.
George W Bush refused to hold an enquiry into the attacks for over 400 days and only relented due to public pressure , he then set very short time limits to report back and restricted the budget . More money was spent investigating the stain on Monica Lewinsky’s dress than was spent investigating the largest terror attack in history . Bush also refused to testify before the commission unless it was held in private, that no transcripts were taken that he did so without being under oath and he was accompanied on the witness stand by Dick Cheney .
The Co Chairs of the enquiry later said “we were lied to, underfunded ,evidence was withheld, we were set up to fail and we encourage everyone to keep asking questions as to what happened that day”.
The lease holder of the WTC complex Larry Silverstein , a personal friend of Benjamin Netanyahu , doubled the insurance premium for terrorist attacks 3 months before 9/11 . He also failed for the first time to have breakfast at the roof of the world restaurant on top of WTC 1 that morning , his daughter also failed to show up for work that day .
The 3 towers that collapsed that day all collapsed due to fire according to NIST , A steel framed structure has NEVER before collapsed due to fire , for 1 to do so is against all odds , for 3 to do so all on the same day all at the same location is a trillion to one . No steel framed building has collapsed from fire since either..
Netanyahu stated live on tv that morning “today is a very good day for Israel” later claiming that people would now understand the terror threat that Israel has to live with every day, he was also the first to claim that this was “probably” the work of bin Laden .
By the end of the day he had already been found guilty by the media.
Will I continue ? I could , this is the tip of the iceberg , we still have to look at Shanksville where the 4th plane crashed where the coroner stated , there were no bodies , no luggage not even a drop of blood it looked like someone had dug a hole and thrown in some scrap metal .
The law demands they test for explosives , they didn’t, the NIST report only investigated up to the point of collapse they didn’t investigate the collapse itself , they couldn’t because it defied the laws of physics.
Maybe you could look into the Project for a new American Century where a neocon think tank stated in (2000) that what was needed to advance US interests was a new Pearl Harbour or watch General Wesley Clark revealing the plan to take out 7 countries in 5 years starting with Iraq then Sudan somalia Lebanon Libya Syria before ending in Iran

I have known since day 1 that something was very wrong with the official story , buildings don’t collapse in that manner especially from fire . Maybe being an ex fireman gave me a clearer picture. 3000 died that day and over 1 million and counting since .
The real perpetraitors (sic) have never been held to account . You know how far they went to cover up a football club’s crimes how far do you think they would go to cover up something like this? All it takes for evil to succeed is for ……………..

Can’t believe you still believe Bin Laden was responsible. He was quite unequivocal: he had nothing to with the attack. Now why would he deny being the architect of such a mighty blow against the US? Doesn’t make sense. In fact there’s not a lot in the ‘official story’ that makes sense. The three buildings that came down that day, did so at ‘free-fall’ speed. This is only possible if a building is brought down by a controlled demolition. The owner of the buildings , a Mr Silverstein, was recorded on screen saying that WTC 7 was ‘about to be pulled’. The BBC reported WTC 7 had come down—about 23 minutes before its collapse. Analysis of the debris—before it was hastily shipped to China—-showed traces of nano-thermite–and explosive material that cuts through steel like butter
The same Mr Silverstein only acquired the buildings from the New York Port Authority some months before the event—–and fortuitously insured them against a terrorist attack. So far the insurers have paid him $4 Billion. Again, fortuitously, Mr Silverstein was absent from his properties that day, I say ‘fortuitously’ because he breakfasted daily at the ‘Window On The World’ in WTC building One. I’m sure Mr Silverstein would have been congratulated on his good fortune by his friend Mr Netanyahu, with whom he spoke on a weekly basis–usually a Sunday.
Then there were those ‘cell-phone calls’ made from passengers to their loved ones. Tests showed that in 2001 you couldn’t make such cals from an aircraft. The there was the miraculous passport belonging, we were told, to the lead hijacker. It was somehow blown from the plain during the explosion, only to be found, slightly singed, by an FBI agent. Then there was the head honchos suitcase containing his confession. It went missing. Had it not gone missing he would have taken it aboard the plane with him—-so who would have got to read that confession—-unless of course it would be blown out of the inferno along with his passport?
Then there was the planes that hit the Pentagon and the one that crash landed in a field in Pensilvania. The FBI has consistently refused to release CCTV footage of the Pentagon strike. And what footage there is available shows a hole in the Pentagon that quite simply could not have been made by a plane. As for the one that crash landed in Pensilvania, there was scarcely any wreckage and no bodies——explanation—-there were old mine-workings below the field and the plane probably got buried down there. (What?)

‘Operation Northwood’ is also worth a swatch. It’s available online and is a document presented to JFK by the Joint Chiefs Of Staff in 1962/3. It was aimed at providing a pretext for invading Cuba, and among the suggested ploys were terrorist attacks on Cuban exiles living in the US (blame Castro) some bombings (blame Castro) and interestingly, a fake shoot-down of a US commercial flight over Cuba. And how was this to be done? A commercial plane, with passengers, would take off in the US. Over Cuba, a ‘drone’ would take over from the commercial flight, The drone would be shot down, while the real plane went on to safely land elsewhere.Fidel would have been blamed and Cuba invaded Far-fetched? JFK thought so and binned it. But it’s still available to be read, as it was declassified by the Assassination Records Review Board.
Who knows, maybe somebody thought it worth picking up anddusting off.
You may be interested in a book called “House of Bush, House of Saud.” Banned in the UK, you may get it in The Republic, Phil. I picked up a copy in Qatar. Interesting that the only planes flying after 9/11 were carry the Bin Ladin family to New York so they can travel safely to Saudi Arabia.
