The Irish Voice is a monthly print publication that serves the Irish community in Scotland.
It is free and is funded by advertisers and donations.
Since February of 2024, Phil has had a regular column in the Irish Voice entitled “Back Home”.
These opinion pieces aim to explore the issues for returning emigrants, whether native to the coIRISH VOICE COLUMN OCTOBER 2024untry or Second Generation Irish (2GI) like Phil and the current situation in contemporary Ireland.
The title also has a double meaning: Phil also wanted to look back at the diaspora Irish community in Scotland, from which he hails.
Initially, the idea for the column came out of an extended interview with the Irish Voice in October 2023.
