Decision time for Mr Let’s Go?

I just caught up with an impeccably well-placed source on matters Sevco.

Here is what he sent me:

“There is now a total breakdown between Stevie and Pablo ( that’s the player’s nickname for Morelos). He’s also nearly 5kg overweight. Stevie has gone from Edinburgh back to Liverpool. His home life is suffering and he is not happy at the club. Murty on standby to assist McAllister if he goes on Monday.”

For the avoidance of doubt, I am very content with the integrity of this source.

He has a proven track record of accuracy on matters Ibrox.

Time will tell, but tonight could be breaking point for Mr Let’s Go.

“I need to have a real strong long think in the next few hours.” 

Oh dear…

Addendum

This is a remarkable interview that Mr Gerrard gave to Sevco TV in the aftermath of the match.

When asked about the performance he said:

“It doesn’t give a true reflection of me or me staff…”

That very much sounds like a manager publicly dissociating himself from his players.

That rarely ends well.

  1. SlippyG has done irreparable damage to his own future as a potential football manager. His latest post match comments were most revealing in that is was an obvious admission that the players were not performing for him , he had lost the dressing room. He says he has to consider his future, whatever that will be it is most unlikely to be a future in football management.

    At the said meeting of the Sevco High Command, it was put to Mr. Let’s Go that his services were no longer required. Slippy G reminds them of the recently updated contract that runs to 2024 and would prove rather costly to ignore. Jabba the Agnivore intervenes with his little black book of blackmail to remind Ge55ard of some unfortunate indiscretions involving either himself or someone he is related to, probably in marriage, which, if made public, would permanently damage Brand Ge55ard. The options: jump of own accord or release the press hounds…

  3. I am considering contacting the General Medical Council to report a possible new condition. I have a severely sore face and hoarse throat which began around 7pm yesterday and has got progressively worse since then. Now more than 12 hours later I can hardly speak and my facial muscles are locked into a half laugh half smile expression that will not shift.

    For those worried or conscious that they may also be suffering ….Symptoms include (primarily but not exclusively) bouts of extended and extreme laughter, a broad smile that can become painful in combination with the laughter, a rasping throat and a sense of elation that refuses to subside.

    There are hopefully no long term effects of ‘Sevcosis Hilariensis Extremis’ (working name) and self monitoring is sufficient in all but the most extreme cases. It is not necessarily contagious but family members should be aware of the condition in case it is confused with something more serious or they are susceptible themselves.

    • I had the same symptoms which came on last night at exactly the same time. I tried tap-dancing around the room while eating jelly and ice cream but to no avail.

      It disappeared suddenly today while listening to the wee bigot Dodds on Sportsound.

      I`m hoping it returns on 15th March at around 5 minutes after noon until, at least, 17th March.

    • Gerrard was always a bit of a risk for rangers and the little success he has had obviously no silver wear but he’s beat Celtic home and away had a decent run in Europe built a competitive squad that can,have and will challenge Celtic. although it all seems game over domestically for rangers Gerard and his players I doubt he’ll be going anywhere soon regardless of recent results or euro success rangers still pose a threat to Celtic recent old firms have shown that ans the coming weeks will be interesting with the euro and old firm coming up…

  7. Aye, the winds of change doth blow for Gerrard.

    He’s lost the dressing room.

    Players turning up when they feel like it.

    That’s disrespect for the manager. That’s disrespect for the club.

    The need to get an international record for Fredo to increase his sales potential has backfired spectacularly. The only thing to increase is his shorts size.

    I suspect there’s a lot of comfort eating among the support these days.

  8. There is nothing to worry about here journalists are being quoted as saying and sugar coating a trophy less season as one better than any treble due to the money coming in from making the 16 in Europe.

  9. Bayer L are worth £450m. It’s going to be 8-0 over the two legs.

    By 19th March their season is over. Zero silver.

    They had planned a lucrative semi final at Hampden and a lucrative final too.

    That’s a significant cash drop on the spreadsheets. Over to you Mr Park.

    How can any of the players do well after being thrown under busses five times? Takes years to heal from that.

    No more busses for the players but a taxi for Gerrard.

  10. There’s enough valid reasons for Gerrard to leave Dark Ibrox. Sickening weekly chants about his preferred faith and Irish background, a fan base with creepy fixations about abuse, and two seasons without a single trophy. Imagine the horror also for guys like Morelos, when some of these songs concerning Catholicism are translated. His motivation must be severely diminished.

  11. What are the chances that Sevco already have Drunken Ferguson lined up to take over from Slippy should he do the “walking away” on Monday? He has at least 2 weeks experience as a manager of a team in the EPL, which is 2 more than ‘Slippy” had when he arrived at Ibroke.

  14. They cannot afford to let go Mr Let’s go… He’d have to walk.

    He’ll be throwing players, board members, fans and the club under many buses when he is on the telly talking about his time with Sevco. I think slippy may come back from the darkside and eventually become a Jungle-Jim again.

    Soon to be talked about like LeGuen.

    • Wouldn’t help his reputation if he walked. Although there is the possibility of his coming out of retirement to get cameos for Liverpool and lift the epl title… That would appeal to him, for sure. They can’t afford to sack him and in reality they can’t afford to back him either. Getting past braga has postponed their death rather than prevented. We shall see what things look like in May.

  19. The fact that devlin at the sun, who is Dodgy Dave’s personal succulent lamb correspondent, has rushed out a piece about gerrard considering his future adds to your insider info I think Phil.

    The IRC’s are crying no surrender on their message boards and questioning why he’d go while he’s still in Europe.

    Strategically though it’s probably the best time for him. Better for his reputation to jump ship before he’s handed his jotters and, at the moment, he can point to the two results this week and claim that he was doing a good job but the players simply let him down. It’ll be a lie of course, but one that the English media will gladly swallow.

  20. Even raising the issue is surely the end. I have never wanted to visit Dubai but would have loved to have joined Rangers training camp! Truly it must have been something else. I would even have sat in economy like them.
