An interrupted conclave

As regular readers will know the Sevco High Command are rather anxious about leaks.

Especially when the spillage ends up in Donegal!

Consequently, they have been having some of their dignified conclaves off-site.

Recently they decided that Turnberry would be a very safe haven for a meeting.

Imagine their surprise when they were shown to their table and adjacent to them was David Low and Gary Hughes.

For the uninitiated, the former was Fergus McCann’s guy during the Celtic takeover in 1994.

The latter was an SFA director until Sevco complained about him in 2018.

Apparently he had referred to the Ibrox klanbase as the “great unwashed”.

Therefore, his presence in the luxurious dining room might have been a tad unsettling for the Blue Room chaps.

In fairness, the Serious Professional saw the funny side of it all.

However, I’m told that the other members of the Sevco party appeared to be rather discombobulated by the chance encounter.

David took to Twitter to tell Planet Fitba of the amusing coincidence.

I can now share what was on the agenda at the Sevco summit in Ayrshire.

Money…

Or rather the lack of it.

The Sevco High Command is wrestling with the problem of external finance and how to access it.

My information is that Close Brothers are not that amenable to a new facility or an extension of the current arrangement.

As regular readers will know the basket of assets has received two secured loans from that company over the last 18 months.

If that relationship has grown frosty then a substitute will have to be sourced.

Consequently, the chaps in the Blue Room have been trying to reach out to the Chinese equivalent of Close Brothers.

As well as a loan I’m told that some sort of sponsorship would also be involved if it came to fruition.

This is probably the basis of the confident prediction made by Mr Alex Rae late last year.

For the avoidance of doubt, I have no problem with believing the Ibrox legend.

That is, I’m sure that he WAS told by a Blue Room insider that “investment” was on the way.

Of course, a secured loan isn’t exactly investment, but we could put it down to a case of Chinese whispers.

One enduring problem for the Sevco High Command is the ghastly presence of Mr David Cunningham King.

The imposition of the Cold Shoulder by the Takeover Panel last year means that he has the corporate equivalent of Coronavirus.

Unclean, unclean…

The fact that you can reveal details of the off-site strategy (OK, I’m being kind in suggesting that they might have one) meeting in deepest Ayrshire strongly suggests that your source is at the heart of these affairs – intriguing…..

I don’t there’s any doubt, unfortunately, that any involvement of Mr Ashley could only take Sevco to a better place than they have ever been in their short life. He may not be the darling of the Tyneside faithful but that’s because he hasn’t spent sufficient to compete at the top in the EPL. My fear would be that (at least in terms of player quality) he could quite easily trump (sorry) any heated driveway production efforts…..

    • Disappointed that David Low gave his custom to a Trump establishment. See that Sevco have announced a golfing hospitality with Turnhouse. A match made in heaven, the vile Trump and the vile Sevco.

  2. Wasn’t the original close loan socialised as an overdraft facility..!! LMAO ..Investment with extreme interest rate and secured against anything not nailed down. The media can dress it up as they wish, the gullibillies wont mind as long as they can spill their bile every week.!

  3. I would be more inclined to lean towards the return of Mike Ashley, a deal to sell Newcastle is well underway and with monies owed to him by the rangers circa 6-10 m then a logical move for him would be to retake control of the rangers , Ashley is no fool , he knows for fairly little investment he could get the European exposure he desires along with all retail sales etc , this is my humble opinion would be bad news for Celtic as for once the rangers would have a real billionaire in charge

    • If the European exposure he seeks is a close association with fascists that wish to have intimate relations with an Argentinian gentleman, assisting in the bathing of homeless people in public fountains, offering to assist with the repair of defective televisions in Manchester, etc then, by all means he should implicate the Sports Direct brand with this rabble. Somehow, I doubt he will be hooking up with them.

    • Ashley involved would be seriously bad news for us. I’ve been hoping for a very long time he could just get his money and go. Don’t think he’d get the European exposure you mentioned though unless SD became official UEFA sponsors on some level.

  4. Just wondering if the reason Close Bros are being so frosty is the cold shouldered, glib and shameless liar, not being paid back quickly enough or do they believe sevco isn’t a safe bet anymore? HH
