Dermo and the Paycock

Right now Celtic are in a terrible state o stasis.

As with any absolute monarchy, it would be a crass error to look beyond the occupant of the throne.

In the green corner of fitba podcasts,  the consensus is that Desmond is the source of all Celtic’s problems.

However, that’s to be Sonny, not Michael, about the situation.

Here, Alan Morrison on the Huddle Breakdown lays out the current situation in a calm, evidence-based way.

Born in  Cork but raised in Dublin, Celtic’s de facto owner has been formed more by the Liffey than the Lee.

That is a  Dublin that O’Casey would perhaps have partly recognised.

So, unlike his bumbling Dauphin of a son, Dermo came up the hard way on Dublin’s northside.

More Love Hate than Love Actually.

He got rich by spotting value AND  being able to read people.

Dermo doesn’t get played.

The man isn’t born who could do that.

I reckon you would need to be one of those secret agents to get to the bottom of it all, but something wasn’t right.

It’s a given that Dermo is a proud man.

Realising that Brendan wasn’t the fella he thought him to be triggered this outpouring of rage.

Yes, rage.

However, it was heavily legaled anger.

That was October last year, and the stench emanating from that statement could not be concealed by all the perfumes of Arabia.

Now, a new season is looming, and the champions of Scotland need reinforcements.

That much is clear.

Given that the man who wears the crown lives by the balance sheet, I wouldn’t be surprised if there is action from July 1st onwards.

New accounting year and all that.

Just like last season, only Celtic can stop Celtic.

  1. If it was all down to Brendan then how can they explain the last window? Snd if he was so at fault for all the previous windows, where we might have done ok in one, then why wasn’t he sacked instead of being allegedly offered a new contract?

Of course, the club will restore parity for the last few years this window, where we’ve ultimately failed to prepare for this situation

  2. The problem with being a rich man’s plaything is that when he becomes bored of you there’s no recovering that initial level of interest, and the most we as the paymasters can do is withhold funds and go from forgotten about to irritating – and irritating ruthless (real) billionaires is a fool’s errand.

It’s highly debatable if either party gets much from the arrangement as it stands – surely a parting of the ways has to be best for all concerned?
