There is something hilariously fascinating about this entire PR shambles.
Firstly, I generally accept Mikey Stewart’s analysis that the Morelos interview was a pre-prepared exercise in firefighting.

The person who set up the hard-hitting expose last Friday knew that Lamborghinigate was about to…err…Brake on Sunday.

Therefore, a squirrel was required for the subsequent news cycle.

It was important to re-focus the Stenography Corps on the “Alfredo is a victim of racism” narrative.
Of course, what was NOT in the plan was that the soft-focus interview would give us Translategate.
Already that interview is being used like the bunker scene in Der Untergang to hilarious effect.
What is NOT funny is the speed with which the management at BBC Scotland caved into Sevco.
Of course, they have form for that.

Despite the white flag flying over Pacific Quay this entire episode is a PR own goal of huge proportions.
The hilarity factor for me is that a highly paid PR contractor thought all of this to be a good idea in the first place.
I suppose this is what Sevco gets when it employs rookies.

Apparently, the folks at Sky were so giddy to get this exclusive that they didn’t think to check the translation.
Now, they might have got away with it if it wasn’t for those pesky Spanish speakers looking at the interview.
They have since taken the interview down from all platforms.
Oh dear…
This from Alex Thomson of Channel 4 News is worth another read.
It shows the compliance of the Stenography Corps in unquestioningly accepting what comes out of Ibrox.
This is exclusive from the Channel 4 guy was referenced by Mikey in the studio on Monday night.
Bizarrely, I’m told that in the furore afterwards, the BBC management was not aware that what Stewart was saying was based on a stood up story from a reputable media organisation.
The reaction from Charlie Green’s PR in-house guy to Tomo’s piece at the time was utterly Pavlovian.

You can read it here.
For the avoidance of doubt, you won’t need me to translate it for you.
However, I am aware that for the last dozen or so years that is exactly what I HAVE been doing.
Quite simply, this site is a translation service for the guid folk o Planet Fitba.
Moreover, it cannot be dismissed by the Stenography Corps with the “anonymous blogger” jibe.
Here I am.

It was never my intention to be in this situation a decade after the Dallas email scoop and none of us knows what the future holds.
However, in a week like this, I realise that I still have work to do.
Oh, and next week the Sevco PR chaps will have to deal with this:

Have a great day!

100% behind Michael Stewart, gives an honest opinion and is also critical of our club when required.
I see the team, going for 55 in 12 years supporters, are raging about this.
Mikey is a Tim Blake bla bla bla
Great shout earlier about getting him on the Celtic payroll
Celtic TV and PR man ?
Why do you refuse to focus on the point that that Alfredo believes he was racially abused. Victim blaming much?. Racism has been cleared defines not on how it was intended but how it was received. You are part of the problem.
PR galactico – my 10 year old has better grammar in homework written whilst watching the TV and eating dinner. Also noted the fact that Thomson is able to host his “attack” from the offical C4 website, and *he* is able to host his rant against this personal attack from The Rangers offical website….the irony is lost on him.
I just think this is a precursor for Morelos leaving in the Summer window, with the one of the excuses that he was racially abused in Scotland and that the referees have got it in for him. Playing the victim!
The funniest thing about the Craig whyte saga, this is the man that finally put Rangers to sleep. He had good reasons to do so. He thought he could shed the debt and get a new club up and away in a matter of months IF Ally fucked up with the European campaign. Ally duly obliged and the rest is history. That history can be told by the man that was at the heart of it. Yet no Sevco supporter will touch his book. They would rather just blame the entire misfortune of events all on Craig whyte and be done with it. They did the same with Charles Green. Treating him as a hero. Even had Charley emojis on their forums… now they blame him for everything with sports Direct…. give them another year or two and Dave King Finally sinks the ship and he will go from heroe to zero. They are a strange bunch.
Whichever way you look at it, Jabba’s position there must be untenable.
If he was involved in sanctioning that interview with Manchild, then he is deemed to either have: 1) failed to ensure that what was said, and what was subtitled, truly reflected what Morelos has said, or; 2) the entire interview was conducted without his prior knowledge or consent, which basically means that he “took his eye off the ball” – in other words, negligent in his duties.
If he is found to have sanctioned this in its entirety, then he has “harmed” his employers in a wider business sense. Although I dislike Morelos for being the torn-faced git that he is, I would applaud him if he took legal steps against whoever done him “reputational damage” (I know, I know!…).
It might be a wild statement on my part, but I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if Morelos was offered the chance to buy out the remainder of his contract, and get the hell out of Dodge!
Where is Morelos going to get 40 million to buy out his contract !
