Those who believed that Big Mike was not a serious man to be treated with respect might have to think again.
Here is a lengthy legal document dated July 2nd 2018.
It refers to a case in the High Court of Justice, Chancery Divison before Justice Bryan.
It is between:
SDI RETAIL SERVICES LIMITED
(Claimant)
and
DAVID KING
PAUL MURRAY
THE RANGERS FOOTBALL LIMITED
RANGERS RETAIL LIMITED
(Defendants).
It is a lengthy document regarding an application for an interim injunction by the claimant against the defendants.
Justice Bryan concluded by stating that:
“So, for the reasons which I have identified, and for the purpose of granting interim relief, I am satisfied that this is an appropriate case for an injunction under section 37(1) on an interim basis. I hereby grant the injunction.”
The case will be heard on Tuesday 10th July.
Now, this has to be a developing story…

Why were King/Murray named as defendants and not the other club/company directors? Were they in particular benefiting from the SD deal in some way?
Again if you were looking you could have got it here first ,predicated on facts not conjecture .I have often wondered if the sevco board actually refer to this site to find out what is actually happening. As I understand it, essentially General Ashley has not only the right to match any offer received by a third party , he can cherry pick his way through the contract. As you stated previously Phil ,he wasn’t finished despite the spin and this in actuality is a long long way from what was reported and what his glibness declared. Superb as usual Phil , I await your further factual observations as they unfold and as the case is reviewed . One thing is for sure its yet another poor result for everything sevco . cheers John BTW I had to see my wife away on a train from Queen St this morning and was confronted by the full cultural experience of that force for good ,the orange order in full flow. Marching through Queen St station concourse in full vile voice , with accompanying refreshments ,a nice wee family day out.
Complete with the backdrop symphony from the emergency services. Glasgows finest constabulary were completely and conspicuously absent from the station concourse, as bewildered tourist looked on ,in amusement at first but you could see this soon gave way to apprehension as the peepul did their thing.
Free reign in Glasgow city centre at 10am on a Saturday morning ,on my last away game to Dundee, our bus was stopped three times. Aye the greatest wee country in the world strikes again. Sturgeon banging on about social inclusion in Europe etc ,how about sorting it out here first FFS.
How can you expect the ‘constabulary’ to be conspicuous when they are in a different uniform and banging the drum in the March!?
Clue yersel’ in!
Not all members of the constabulary are marchers ya dunderheid. And station concourses are the territory of British Transport Police. Clue yersel’ in!
Not a great believer in Karma applying to people like DK but if there should be some cosmic shift which sees him having to pack up and go as Sevco goes to the wall, then what price SG heading up a consortium of his Scouser pals to take over a debt free Sevco 2 now he has “his feet under the table”?
Just a thought.
Oh dear…
Sir, I will interpret that as an expression of dread on the likelihood of it coming to pass…
There’s no such thing as investment at Ibrox. Only charity.
Looks like you plagiarised this piece even before JJ got it out this time Phil. Naughty Naughty.
???
The glib and shameless liar must have thought big Mike would just roll over and kow-tow to sevco and squinty’s desires but it would appear that Ashley isn’t the gullible type. How very dare he not be hypnotised by David Mesmer. HH
Does this explain why, over the last few weeks, Phil has ended a couple of his articles with something along the lines of Ashley not returning Sevco’s phonecalls?
If so, was this deliberate to back Sevco into a corner and, with time running out, give him an even stronger hand when it comes to negotiations?
B-)
Dave spent over £3m getting out of the retail deal last year, meaning he has had no cash for any shirts and probably still has a big bill for excess stock that will not sell now they have published the new tat.
Big Mike still has first dibs on retail pieces. Good deal Dave. The devil truly is in the retail.
I notice there is a password protected piece by another blogger today who asserted previously that Thursday’s and weekends would be free.
I have no access to the article as I don’t contribute financially to his / her site. I would hazard a guess that it… copies this – http://www.bailii.org/cgi-bin/format.cgi?doc=/ew/cases/EWHC/Comm/2018/1697.html&query=(Rangers)+AND+(king – in coloured font, claims an exclusive, writes about all that we are able to research ourselves and then asks for some cash to keep the site afloat… then backed up by posters who claim it’s the ‘go to site’. What a load of tosh.
It gets my back up that this individual continually has pops and ad hominem attacks at you P… hence my posts. I used to enjoy reading that site, now it only provides comedic value. I have no doubt that when this train finally crashes, that you sir, will once more be vindicated. You are a gentleman, a scholar and a proper journalist.
Keep on keeping on Mr Mac – on the money as always and professional enough to rise above the infantile comments.
HH
So finally the truth outs. SD still has the Ibrox club by the short and curlies.
Someone has posted the Jackson article hailing King’s victory over Ashley.
£3m one of payment, top dollar for Mike’s shares and a clause enabling SD to compete for the business going forward does not feature in his piece, quelle surprise.
Jacko, not for the first time, has published an article with no basis in fact.
One might think that he’s been duped, yet again.
Another day in court, the legal fraternity must love King.
The pressure is building, TOP/COS/SD/SFA charges, none of them are going away, no matter what Level 5 and their media lickspittles say.
No WIFI at Ibrox, why, another botched contract?
And as ever the would be independent Rangers bloggers put the quest for a blazer above keeping their poor readers informed:
“Yeah it’s true & it’s to do with legalities of SD deal expiring & any new deal starting. I’m not wanting to go into it because we have been warned not too”

F##K IT,Its all comedy gold which will never end until the tribute act joins the original huns in the grave. H H.
you reap what you sow !!
In light of it being the Wimbledon season, I think it looks like Game ,set, and match to Big Mike.
I can picture the celebrations down Ibrox way as their faithful fans find out they have been shafted yet again. No doubt some will convince themselves that King will come up with a cunning plan to nullify the deal. It is always the way over at Ibrox.
I think this battle will signify the beginning of the end. Hallelujah.
Is Mr Blair the same Mr Blair as Club 1872 Blair? One man, several hats Blair? And Anderson Strathern acting for “Rangers”.
Great stuff. Thanks again.
Well the media sure had all the angles covered when Sevco did the deal with SD last summer. I’m sure I recall it being great news for Sevco, a triumph by King and much ripping up of contracts. And not much reference to still over a barrel.
The Document refers to “England and Wales High Court” Will any judgement in this case be enforceable against an entity based in Scotland?
This is not going to go down too well at The Radar is it?
I can envisage Radar Jackson messaging McGregor with an invite for drinks …
“Let’s get blitzed Greegs” One for the War Historians among ye ?
Your just ~plajar~ ~playg~ ~plaichari~ fowk it… Your copying him again.
Loved the 3rd sentence of section 35 of the link on a previous article… It started…. “for the avoidance of doubt” Ha… Did you write that? You’ve been outed… Ha ha HH
Big Mike still has sway with rangers retail. lmao
Ashley’s really got them this time. As I see it the short version is this: The current retail contract breaks the whole task down into three bits, 1) running the Megastore at Ibrox and the website, 2) selling various tat with the Rangers badge on it, and 3) selling replica kits. (para 21). If Rangers want to sign a retail deal with anyone else apart from Sports Direct, they can’t just sign a deal for the whole kebang. Any deal must be broken down in to those three specific distinctions, and Ashley has the right to match either the whole lot or any one or more parts. So if he was being awkward he could choose just to keep the Megastore and the website. Or just to keep the right to sell the kit. Now clearly that’s going to limit what other offers they get to run their retail. How profitable is a Megastore when all you can sell is mugs and car tax holders? How valuable is the contract to sell orange tops when Sports Direct still run the Megastore?
Dave King should really have looked at what he was signing when he sent Mike Ashley packing last year.
I agree. The issue seems to be that there is an offer to do the lot but it hadn’t been broken down into the three main elements.
The fact that SDIR can see other people’s detailed bids is also a bit off putting to other commercial companies.
Part II on Tuesday by the look of it.
A fascinating read which I’m trying my best to make sense of. As is my understanding, Sevco is trying to wriggle out of the retail deal with SD as it has received an offer from a third party to sell kits. Sevco has provided notice of this to SD but SD is far from satisfied with the level of detail and potential impact. It looks like the third party is now worried about the timeline for this to happen before the start of the season. This injunction will only serve to hold things up further. It also appears that, should Sevco enter into an agreememt with this third party, that SD may be due significant compensation. Of course, my interpretation could be way off. Thanks, Phil.
I thought Potless Paul had shot the craw
Mike Ashley again !
The ‘Big Bully’!
Is it not “General Big Bully” ?
I would just like to say, the last time I got excited about” The General” rallying the troops, DK was supposed to end up in the “pokey” over Christmas. As it happened and about the same time, the former was hauled, politely but “Spectre” like, before a commons committee to answer complaints about certain business practices. “A big boy did it and stayed” he blubbered. Too much too fast, I believe, was the excuse. It cost him millions through bad publicity.
I am implying nothing and one can can infer what one likes.
That speculation was never on this site.
Alright Sir, but in my defence it was a popular notion in other quarters although if money was being placed on it it was perhaps, not of the smart variety. The main point that I “wasn’t” making still stands.
I see MA walking away with some change as the grief just isn’t worth it. “Supper Ales” will be wanting to “name the names” of the stores.
I hope the defendants have an unhappy 12th of July…
“It was also made clear that it was said to be vital to Rangers’ business model for the next and following seasons for it to launch its retail operations from 1st August”
Tick tock
Looks like Ashley was to be informed of any new kit deal so he could match or better the deal. Ashley was perhaps cold shouldered by King. Might even be the reason Murray resigned his directorship.
thanks again phil
I read this as Rangers aren’t allowed to sell the strips without the consent of SD?
The way I read it is that they can invite offers to sell merchandise and to run their store, but SD must be advised of any offer and given the opportunity to match it.
Sevco tried to pull a fast one. Big Mike bending over Sevco, and not of a mind to use any vaseline …
You have just mentally scarred me, Sir.
I prefer “scared” which is more accurate regarding Phil’s article.
Big M will do all the scarring you lot deserve.
