This is full spectrum dominance on Planet Fitba.
Celtic have secured a historic Double Treble.
When Motherwell have been the opponents this season Celtic have not needed a game plan, but more of a health and safety audit.
Indeed, only some officiating leniency saw the mid-table SPFL side finish with their full complement on the field.
In the end, it was heroes against hammer throwers.
Rodger’s players were out of the blocks like men who knew they had a date with history it was 2-0 rather quickly.
I found it particularly pleasing that there were three academy graduates in the starting eleven for Celtic.
The first goal from Calum McGregor was worthy of winning any cup final and Forrest and Tierney were relentless on the flanks.
I’m told that there were four major clubs scouting the Celtic fullback today.
Atlético Madrid, PSG and two major EPL outfits.
For the avoidance, of doubt, he doesn’t want to go anywhere.
However, it is indicative of the quality in the Celtic squad.
Of course, there are many in the Stenography Corps who are hurting today.
However, they have hope that next season will be different for their beloved basket of assets.
They believe that Mr Gerrard plus an unsustainable wage bill now at crisis point will be enough to topple Celtic.
Of course, it is the hope that kills you.
Today Celtic made history.
Next season Brendan will want more of this.
So do I.
I’m smiling today.

As the call for the Crucifixion of Michael O’Halloran warms up, as the cowards he pays to represent him sit quivering in their offices making excuses and distancing themselves from the most heinous of crimes, attending a football match, as King prepares his case for the death penalty, surely Stevie Ger must be considering the merits of selling his soul. Surely he must realise the mistake already.
Choosing to disregard the warnings about the nature and the potential consequences of living life in hell Stevie Gers pride and lust for power has skewed his decision.
Four and twenty months I give him before the demons start feasting and his career is damned.
If he isn’t already regretting his choices then he will be soon.
This doesn’t have the same ring as WATP but should probably be on the changing room wall instead
” For where we are is hell, and where hell is there must we ever be”
May they rot
Any truth in the rumour that the MSM are wetting their knickers and the bears are frothing their kecks over Steven Gerrard’s supposed next marquee signing being Lizzie Arnott?
Sounds like moonbeams to me tbh!
I can’t see where they’d get the cash for an A lister like that!
(Congrats to Hibs steely women today. Amazing performance)
I can just imagine what kind of blue spout Jabba is dreaming up at this very moment. Far off and fanciful dreams at the ready to feed to the open mouthed pro-establishment hacks for regurgitation in the Monday Sevco stories…
Anything to take the edge of Celtics historic achievements.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we awake to stories of incoming superstars desperate to ply their best years at the third best club in Scotland.
Messi, Ronaldo, Higuain….
I hear Gareth Bale is ‘unsettled’…
Gareth Bale ,however, is “perfectly registered”…so won’t fit into the Sevco way of doing things.
Hail hail
Give me 10 times the resources of all my rivals and i could win it all too. However give rodgers a level playing field and he has been shown to be nothing special. Aberdeen coming within 10 points is the real team worth praise….
It’s a bugger not having ebts for those dignified brogue wearers. Celtic can’t be criticised for being a well run club on and off the pitch. Financial strength comparisons. If my arithmetic is correct I’m sure those blue boys spent considerable millions on players unfortunately just not quite the quality….
Aye… That’s how yer ‘old Gers’ did it!
With other folks money and without paying taxes mind!
As LNS said… “No sporting advantage”
And if the Rangers had only realised that the result of them taking 10 points off Aberdeen handed Celtic the double double…… Brendan’s best decision was to sign J Hayes, depriving Aberdeen of their most potent threat.
The proof of the pudding of Rangers intentions in the transfer market will be the arrival of the first £4/5 million recruit.
However if they continue with low ball offers, spread over a lengthy period, with unrealistic add ons then Gerrards rep will be tainted by association and with the national press looking on.
With Murphy’s permanent deal done and Cummings to be next when will the exodus of players commence so that Stevie G can fund his revolution?
Of the current Rangers squad not one of them would make the Celtic bench.
Even if Gerrard is an exceptional coach he’s not going to get a lot more from the dross he’s inherited.
He needs a minimum of 6 players who will go straight into the team.
That will be hugely expensive and given their current financial position is equally unrealistic.
Despite his massive reputation he won’t get a settling in period and will have to hit the ground running.
This time next year they will be looking down the barrel of 9 IAR rushing towards them.
This is the last throw of the dice by a board that, as at today, are unable to tell their fans when replica strips will go on sale.
Will MOH be resigned this week…. could get messy!
Bain
Ralston
Simunovic
Aitken (wee joke, he has been on the tv so much the past week lol)
Kompper
Bitton
Kouassi
Sinclair
Roberts
Griffiths
Edouard
In all seriousness, This team would finish 2nd even with big Roy in it !!
We are miles ahead, Forget 10-in-a-row, we will get 20 at this rate
HH
6/1 I believe the bookies are quoting on a Treble treble.
Could be generous?
Good summary Phil – lots of smiling faces yesterday and today; a great achievement, no matter how dominant a team is, winning 1 treble never mind 2 is very difficult.
As for Murderwell, they have been at the systematic fouling games for years, and get protected by leninet officials – I am convinced they have a fouling coach !
Anyway, onwards and upwards for the mighty Hoops
HH
Keith Lasley *is* their assistant manager …
Celtic are LEGENDS. ( not LEGNEDS)
As for Mr Douglas Ross..
You can take that as a wee bit of Scottish Football Kharma…
was he about to call for a red card?
The irony was not lost on the Celtic fans all around him.
Brendan already eying up a treble-treble – or is it triple treble?
…And a sustained Euro campaign with the ‘wedge’ that accompanies it.
Sevvie G must be looking on as he peruses his modest transfer budget and wondering how he can do a u-turn before he hits the border.
What a day, will stay with me forever. Looking forward to next season already.????
Phil what day for Brendan Rodgers to give a right GIRFUY to guys who didn’t vote him manager of the year your can taste their salty tears today as Celtic create History this team under BR is going to get stronger and stronger a few quality signings pre season and it’s here we go ma heid is still buzzing couldn’t sleep last night then what a great day to top it all off well am gony try and get the heid doon for some sleep Goodnight and Hail Hail Bhoys n Ghirls.
‘more of a health and safety audit’ brill brill brill………..Phil
Last year I thought how do you top the invincibles….. well we have done that. But how do you now top a double-treble ?.
Both Brendan and Tierney are green and white inside. They will both look at the possibility of being immortalised by this club and supporters if they get 10IAR.
After that Tierney will still have years left in the game and Brendan too hopefully.
Lets enjoy today.
Great day here in Glasgow. Makes up for the dick manager of mines singing the famine song to me in work on Friday, still to decide whether to get his arse slung or leave him bricking it for a while yet. disgust me these people to the pits of my stomach.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/glasgow_and_west/8109359.stm
Why is this never brought up by our BBC StV or nil by mouth when thousands are belting it out. Pisses me off
Why would you wait? Never, ever tolerate that racist garbage.
I think it’s obvious what do do…
So proud on this special day. Humility always key. We have it in spades.
I love you Celtic, I always will.
Silly Dodds biased commentary during the match summed up how much they are hurting. Coupled McCleish with his big fuming heid made me smile and raise a glass to the double treble winners at the end of the match. It made a pleasant evening to look forward too mo chara’s.
Every time there was a bad tackle from a Well player Dodds was quick to play down the severity of the foul by spouting about the offender’s momentum or there wasn’t much in it in his (EBT) opinion.
Endeavour? Since when did that come to mean clugging, elbowing, tackling with studs showing and snarling your way through a game as Murderwell did today.
What they play cannot be described as football and it was only due to the leniency of the officials that they remained with 11 men on the field.
Scotland will never progress as a football nation while this thuggery is allowed to go unchecked.
Phil, your references to Motherwell today are very unfair. You almost sound like the SMSM, when Well gubbed sevco in the League Cup, and they used reference to the physical way Motherwell played, and failed to give them credit, thus deflecting from Sevco. Disappointed you have been lead down that road. We won today because we are better than them by a mile with better players who play for the jersey and a cause. A historic day that will live in the memory forever. A great spectacle that both sets of fans contributed enormously to. Who cares about anything else.
We’re all smiling today Phil!
Fantastic performance from the Bhoys today, especially the first half.
Tierney, McGregor, Rogic & Dembele were all outstanding; Broony, Ntcham & Forrest dominated the midfield & were constantly rotating positions; Ajer, Boyata & Lustig coped comfortably with everything Motherwell threw at them – literally! – and Craig Gordon was totally secure when called upon.
Nothing made me smile more than this though, take a bow Douglas Ross MP. Oh, you already have ????

I will.not belittle our achievement today with mention of any other.
Today’s achievement is down to one thing and one thing only.
Celtic.
Always and overall.
Hail Hail.
Fabulous effort by all involved and a truly historic moment for both Celtic and Scottish Football.
All this aside I noticed one or two things that concerned me (though I have to say don’t suprise me)?
Both concern Moussa Dembele.
First thing was his reaction to McGregors wonderful goal… he had a face like someone had shat in his breakfast.
Secondly on full time looked like a man bored out of his skull to me.
I can only draw one conclusion from this.
He’s lost interest in Scottish Football and secondly he wants to be elsewhere.
I’ve thought this all Season he’s payed like a guy with one eye on a move to me?
Nowhere near the same level of commitment as last Season.
Has his agent been approached ?
I don’t know but I don’t see him at Celtic come September.
HH
Moussa was outstanding today!
What game were you watching?
He was the man of the match for goodness sake!
He wore a Celtic scarf on his head all day after the match so I think he enjoyed himself quite well thank you very much!
Oh, and by the way, Moussa hasn’t played all season, he missed half of it through injury.
Regarding Moussa’s reaction, we don’t always understand players from other shores and their feelings. We think of our feelings when our team scores and think everyone should react the same. That’s not always the case. But it would be wrong to think he wasn’t happy. He was desperate to score on Saturday (maybe that was in his mind) and at the end was as happy as any of us. Looking at some big goal replays on you tube you will see many players not even smiling, this doesn’t mean anything. Guys like Lustig act like we expect but not all players do. I wouldn’t read too much into it.
More so in response to the comments than the article itself:
Sorry, but you can’t have it both ways. You’re quick to give it tight to Rangers* for being the “Espanyol of Glasgow” due to their financial inferiority to Celtic but to expect Motherwell to stand off your team even though Celtic have an even greater advantage over them than Rangers* is ridiculous. Endeavour is all they have to counter better skilled and financially loaded opponents much like Celtic do when they venture into the UCL!
I’m not suggesting for a minute that they go out to maim the Celtic player btw. Motherwell derserve some respect in that they earned their right to be in the final which they fell short in to a superior skilled opponent……..much like Celtic did to PSG & BM…..there’s no shame in that.
Well said, Scott.
That’s fair….there are different ways of combating a superior skilled outfit….Motherwell, not for the first time these last two seasons at least played with the boundaries of what is fair and what is outright malice…..if one was entirely neutral you would like to think that skill will triumph over the “they don’t like it up them” brigade….today was one of those….
Great day and time to support Celtic…..was telling a pal in the pub today I went to see them about six times before I saw them winning a game…..
His finishing was poor today but his holding up play and distribution/link up play was excellent.
He’s played in 37 Games this Season that’s 12 less than last but my observations weren’t based on any of this.
He’s looked out of sorts most of the Season and has for the most part looked less interested I feel.
Time will tell of course but I have a gut feeling something is going on in the background and his reactions yesterday have only served to reinforce that feeling.
Ps I thought Brown was excellent yesterday.
HH
Well done to the Celtic family today. Delighted for fans and all the staff. Good luck to Broony on his well-earned testimonial tomorrow.
HH
An historic double treble tops off another fantastic season under Brendan. I’m still waiting for Motherwell to turn up though as they were no opposition whatsoever. Their main game plan was to not get embarrassed by a humping like sevco got and it worked out wonderfully well for them. Losers once again! Let’s hope the purse strings are untied for the manager to strengthen the squad and further the ambitions of this magnificent club. We can’t afford to be complacent if we want to continue making history. HH
Great result and so pleased to have had a seat when history was made. Stevie G. May as well get Ali G. He was a great player, but then so were Liam Brady and John Barnes. Management is a whole new ball game and, rightly or wrongly, money talks these days. They have none. I actually think they might have done us a favour similar to their dignified ‘celebrations’ after the 2016 semi-final, by appointing Gerrard. With more attention on our game, the board might actually release some of the funds earned in the last two CL campaigns that might take us to another level (not tha Jabba the Traynor kind either). For now though, I am celebrating history with my wee Bhoy who has known nothing but successin the Hoops and who cannot comprehend that any club from Ibrox were ever the dominat force in Scotland. HH
Can I stop you there?
Lord Nimmo Smith said money was no sporting advantage
what a tool !!
Swan & Helmet, Northampton. That’s where we were on this historic day. Thanks to all for the songs & the hospitality.
Speaking of unsustainable wage bills and matters Sevco, it appears Close Brothers have seized Broxi Bear’s auto. Pictures of vehicle at this Bhoy’s twitter feed: https://twitter.com/JMURPHY_27387/status/997729107885674496
Hi Phil,
Thoroughly enjoyed history being made. Hopefully more of the same in the next few seasons,
JoeMc
I thought Scott brown was immense, a true captains performance. And dare I say it, he is now officially our greatest ever captain and he still has years in him. God bless the hoops and Brendan Rogers. Oh and for the avoidance of doubt I’m panelled and can’t wait to pay homage to broonie tomorrow.
A truly great captain, but our greatest ever? No.
HAIL CAESAR!!!!!
