The importance of paying attention to glib and shameless promises

I really do hope that Mr Gerrard is paying close attention.

For his sake, that is.

The idea that the basket of assets can overtake Celtic is, to quote a current senior Ibrox employee, “delusional”.

The Gerrard squirrel has a three-pronged utility function:

Firstly, season ticket spike. Quite simply the enthusiasm generated among The People would bring in much-needed cash as renewals were faltering even before the battering on Sunday.

Secondly, the exposure of having a manager who was a globally known player could attract extra commercial sponsorship.

Thirdly, the hope is that there will be a close arrangement with Liverpool for Next Gen players.

So all good then if Mr Gerrard agrees to be the next Sevco boss.

However, even the chaps in the Blue Room are aware that the Liverpool legend is a managerial beginner.

Consequently, a seasoned assistant is vital, especially one with Ibrox sympathies.

Unfortunately, the first choice candidate of the Sevco High Command had salary demands that were considered rather high.

He wanted a package in the range of £20k-£25k per week.

However, they were, initially, only offering £5k per week.

Awkward…

As ever at Ibrox many things lead back to money, or rather the lack of it.

I was told by two independent sources today that the anti-King faction on the board has a plan.

Gasp!

If the South African based convicted criminal can be evicted from the Blue Room then they’re confident of bringing in new investment.

The two figures I have been given are £10m and £12.5m.

Of course, right away Close Brothers want £4m of that by next February and that’s non-negotiable!

That leaves between £6m and £8.5.

The larger amount probably covers the operating shortfall for the year or most of it.

However, it isn’t even a dent in the financial advantage that is currently enjoyed by the biggest club in Scotland.

We will soon find out of Mr Gerrard has been paying attention.

  1. hello phil listening to mark guidie on the radio there and he was saying about two investers coming into sevco have you any idea if there is any truth in that or is it just pie in the sky.

  2. Rangers last home game of the season on Saturday.
They will be desperate to introduce the new manager to the fans and ensure a full house at the same time.
If it doesn’t happen then the deal must be floundering.
If, as reported, Gerrard will be looking for an initial £20m transfer budget, remember the club turns over £30m in total at the moment, where is the cash coming from?

  3. Phil; would need to hear a lot more details re this supposed investment coming in or believe it to be nothing more than more squirrel action. On what basis would anyone, or any business put money into the mess that is newco? It quite simply is money you are never going to get back, therefore any CBA will show a negative return on that investment. People with that kind of money to “invest” do not put it into businesses that have negative return values.

Although to be fair, there is one kind of investor interested in situations like that. However, they usually are involved in looking to invest in Laundromats, if you catch my drift. But I’m sure that is not what we are talking about here….

  4. The PR around all things Rangers is amateurish and comic, on occasion both at the same time.
It must be killing King that he’s having to pay through the nose for it, yet still end up a laughing stock.

  5. What if Jonathan and Jimmy get it wrong against Killie, will they too be resigned?
    What a mess.
I trust Gerrards advisors are aware of the court action today that may halt any share issue to bring in much needed investment?
Once again the Scottish media is behind the curve on this one.

    • Initially yes.
That is what Sevco said they would do.
However, they decided to let the loan run the full year.
      I have already reported this.

I’d have a bit of fun before telling them to do one.

    Just saying….

    • The have certainly been courting the Scouse Duncan Disorderly, but what if he is looking for a Feast of Steven collapse, having done one to them? What it they bust the bank to hire him and his second in command TRUE BLUE THRU AND THRU, son of Allister, and find themselves with 25 players to buy plus the ages of another 25 to pay, because no beggar wants them? And what if THE LAW steps up, as POTUS is doing for the Masonic Bankers Wankers here in the USA? This is a Global Awakening. FIFA. UEFA and the Masons-at-Hampden are all going down.

Tune into Qanonposts.com and watch the devil’s team being hung out to dry. POTUS has grabbed their assets all over the world.

Okay, mibbie am being harsh who cares about 10 in a row? Just get yer act the gither eh??

  8. As I suspect SG will decline their offer by the weekend, I cannot wait to see what Plan B is. They don’t seem to be best at this planning Malarkey and I have seen Jim Duffy’s name mentioned a few times now.

Those SBs and new strips will be flying out the door. I wonder what Big Mike’s bill is for ‘administering’ the leftover old strips.. Maybe another £20 old tat fire sale is coming. Celtic rubber duck anyone?

    • Big Mike will be approached to sell the new ones from the superstore, will he or wont he. Obviously He will take a healthy commission.

  9. Yes, he has not got the coaching experience of others( Murty, Pedro,Warburton?) but you have to start somewhere!
Quote Charlie Adam on BBC sport.
Wow, this quote is taking stupidity to new heights.
Most of the big time Charlies in football have an ego.
No doubt Gerrard has a big ego having played at the highest level and landing his first managenent job in Glasgow, rather than MK Dons, will immediately bring media attention to him and the club.
Does he, and his advisors, have any idea what he’s walking into?
I doubt it very much. The club is dysfunctional from top to bottom and is headed by a convicted criminal with a penchant for telling porkies, as TOP, COS, and the independent directors will testify to.
The new club, like the old one, is a loss making business with the current year’s numbers certain to eclipse last year’s £7m loss, with loans north of £20m and rising.

If you take the current first team squad it’s much easier to pick out who you would keep, probably not many.
Getting rid of many of them will be as expensive as bringing in new blood.
Buy out Pena, Alves, Herrera’s contracts, £3/4m?
Then there’s the rest of the dross.
Can you imagine the stick that would be thrown at Gerrard if it doesn’t start well and Celtic, an improving Celtic according to Brendan, hand out another doing?
That’s when no amount if revisionism will erase your background and former Celtic allegiance.
The BBC highlights cut out a number of Celtic’s other chances, perhaps there were too many to fit in!
A Holt shot, Windass ditto and Boyata blocking Alfie’s attempt was the sum of Rangers attempts.
    It’s pitiful.
For the 3rd goal Murphy has the ball taken off him and it’s fed to Forrest.
Cummings, loanee, puts on the brakes, after you Jamesie, then Murphy again allows him to run past him with the slightest of body swerves leaving the Rangers loanee in his wake then Boom, goal.
The 4th goal does Martin no favours.
The ball breaks to Rogic on the end of the box and he lobs the ball into the corner of the net. If you watch the slow motion replay Martin (another loanee) actually pulls his head away and turns his back on the ball, it’s criminally weak defending and summed up the perf0rmance.
Not to worry Stevie, as Charlie says we all have to start somewhere.

  10. Brendan’s statement about Murty and him being chucked in the bus serves several purposes. First, it is pure class. Second, it is a very public warning to Stevie Gerrard about the dangers he will face. Third, it is a massive GIRFUY to newco.

In other news, McGregor rubs it in by saying he, Rogic and Tierney had a bug and were not 100 percent fit…. 🙂 cheeky wee scamp.

  13. This pregnant pause in ‘negotiations’ seems to be leaving level 5 and sevco pretty much lost, in terms of what to ‘leak’ out to the media…. Unless it’s all been too much for Jabba and Morbid Obesity has got the better of his morbid staunchness.

If S Gerrard has ANY nouse financially and/or decent people advising him then he will already have done his homework and in fine Glasgow or Scouse dockyard English be ready to tell sevco to ‘get tae’.

I can’t wait for it to happen. I hear there is an assistant first team coach vacancy at Liverpool.

Still grinning about yesterday’s result… Not heard too much talk of the quality of the goals.. Wee Jamesys goal was special for me.. He took that ball past 5 sevco players and kicked it past another 3… Just lovely. The best bit was his face as he ran off to celebrate. He has such skill running with the ball but the finish has often let him down. That goal was perfect though, and he knew it. Going 3-0 up against the ‘rivals’ (shhhh stop it) made it even better.

My favourite Celtic goal of the season.

  14. Good on you Brendan on your statement on Mr Murty, a little compassion costs nothing. What a way to treat an Employee and yet no mention of this in our compliant Scottish Media. They should all hang their collective heads in shame. It’s not often I listen to Super Scoreboard but I did tonight. Again the man castigated by the “Newco” support. What people forget is he will not receive a “Pay off” as he was only contracted until the end of the year. Nor will he be offered his old job back….no mention of that for a man who has “Fronted Up” after every situation while his Employers hid behind PR Spin.

Listening to Keevens, ”Newco” supporters and the rest of the “Pundits” on Super Scoreboard, when will they learn. Murray and Rangers chased the dream of winning the Champions league/European Cup like Celtic, and where did it get them…Liquidated.

Now they must, according to Keevens, the Media and the “Newco” support, stop Celtic achieving 10 in a row. Where will that get them? Answers on a postcard please or reply to Stevie G. Keep up the good work Phil HH
