Has Steven Gerrard been paying attention today?
I’m told that the Sevco High Command were rather irked at my reportage apropos this particular King sized squirrel.
The Blue Room chaps were also less than happy at my reporting about unpaid suppliers.
Mr King has impressed it upon his people that news management is a key part of the Gerrard season ticket operation.
It is important that the ex-Liverpool legend does not realise the extent of the financial difficulties at Sevco.
Of course, the shills in the Stenography Corps will assist the convicted criminal in this ruse.
However, the video evidence today clearly shows that the club which is currently courting him are nowhere near Celtic.
Today the Sevco midfield resembled Mr Bean trying to overpower two nightclub bouncers.
Indeed, the 5-0 scoreline rather flattered the battered basket of assets.
The customer base of Espanyol Glasgow had better get accustomed to this.
And so might Mr Gerrard…

The Daily Star’s football expert picked a Celtic/Rangers select a couple of weeks ago,
6 Gers, 5 Celts in the team.
Foderingham
Martin
John
Goss
Murphy
Morelos
He’s more a football idiot than a football expert.
If Gerrard has been promised all the funds from outgoing transfers to build his own squad he will be severely disappointed.
They would be lucky to raise £10m in total for the entire current first team squad and that, and more, will be required to pay off the dross.
Martin, Goss, Murphy, Cummings, Docherty all back to their parent clubs.
Fod, Tavernier, Windass, Morelos sold if a buyer can be found.
Hodson, Alves, Halliday, Holt, Pena, Herrera, Cardoso, Wallace, Miller, Dorrans, Dodoo, O’Halloran, Candelas, McCrorie all free to go if they tear up their contracts, some hope.
Apoligies to anyone I’ve missed out but thats 23 players in total. It’s not a revamp that’s required it’s a start from scratch.
And that’s just the front of house clean out.
There’s the coaching staff and the executives who hired Warburton and Pedro amazingly still on the premises.
Talk of £20/30 will solve the problem, really!
Loans are over £20m and the club continues to run at a loss.
Another couple of losses and 4rh place beckons with European football dependent on a Celtic cup final win, assuming the SFA has doffed it’s cap and duly waved through their UEFA licence application once again.
If only the SFA was the transparent organisation it claims to be then someone might explain how 6 years of reported losses conforms with FFP rules at UEFA.
Mr Maxwell could make a start with publically revealing the CO’s review of the 2012 SFA licencing procedures which enabled one club to lie about overdue taxes and a result of which what action is to be taken against the perpetrators of the fraudulent application?
None,no actions and there probably never will be. 1-?CFC?
Sevco should be sueing sdm for every penny, his businesses, properties,
cars, homes and mansions, his title should also be removed. What has he done to deserve that title?
I shall tell you,he ruined rfc ran it into the ground and then passed the buck$1 for a pound £1.Now,I’ve not heard of sdms hardships and living in austerity. He was the catalyst, well maybe Mr.Jock Stein could also be seen as the catalyst, because if it wasn’t for Mr.Stein forming that magnificent team of Lisbon Lions, well sdm would not have been making promises he couldn’t and didn’t keep.
Thank you Phil for this platform for without it We might just be All living as we did then, like mushrooms in the dark.HH????✅
Their fans are trying to soothe the pain of yesterday by getting excited about the fairy tale rumour of “major investment imminent” as Mark Guidi has apparently told them on Clyde SSB ?… the transfer budget to be made available to Mr Gerrard is supposedly “eye watering”…. do they ever learn ???
Eye-watering , do you mean tears
Why was it even necessary for Police Scotland to make a comment on Lustig’s bit of fun?
Deflector shields full on for another organisation in meltdown.
Talking of deflector shields Traynor and Co moved quickly to prevent any Rangers representative being put in front of the media.
I suppose the sight of the manager or player crying on national TV would not help the ST push!
Gerrard is on a hiding to nothing. The minute things go wrong his Celtic supporting history and religion will be at the fore, stoked by a blue facing media in despair about the state of their club of choice.
Alan McCrae must be devastated at the thought of a double treble.
It’s just no fair Alan is it?
Broonie laughed as one eejit in the media suggested that he must be dissapointed that no further goals were added in the final 30 minutes.
As a fan a record score would have put the icing on the cake but anyone who witnessed the match knows that it was 5 going on 10.
How many weeks, days, before the ET is filling the back pages with Tavernier, Windass fairy tales of going for the treble next season and of course a sustained run in Europe…. Must miss those Luxembourg giants in the preliminaries of course!
With Hibs improving and Aberdeen still getting results after their cup exit, Killie under Clarke doing well and Hearts back at Tynecastle for next season under anyone but Levein, the fight for 2nd will be fierce.
Goodness knows what it will cost to replace the dross inhabiting the Ibrox dressing room.
It appears that the excellent business in the January window, credited to the DOF, now doesn’t stand scrutiny.
Goss, Cummings, Martin and Murphy will go back to their parent clubs whilst the Docherty deal may be in jeopardy if there is anything in the small print of the contract that allows the Ibrox club to walk away having had 5 months of the player’s services for nothing other than his wages.
If, as suggested at the time, the Park family acted as guarantors for the transfer fee, hell mend them.
Is there not something in the SFA rule book about having dual interests in clubs playing in the same league?
Silly me, yes there is, but apparently that doesn’t apply to the establishment club, nor does fielding players whose full contract details have not been lodged with Bryson, or feels free to lie to the SFA about overdue taxes on their UEFA licence application.
Ah well I suppose when you are regularly putting 4 or 5 in the pokey past them it’s some consolation and their cheating, and that of our esteemed football authorities, take a back seat for the moment, but neither forgotten nor forgiven.
Congrats to Brendan and his team, super performance.
It was like watching a fight where the wee guy keeps getting up after being told to stay down, on numerous occasions they were laid on their arses. There is no gulf, it’s a Tyson v Watt mismatch and not very pretty.
I was with a dear friend last night and I sent him a link to your site Phil after he came out with “Once we get a financial backer” statement when we debated the game.
I said “You have a choice, read that blog and see the real evidence of where your club is really at or don’t and stay ignorant”
I walked away and felt sadness for my friend. This man has been a rock to me in troubled times, I know many others like him and after my initial sadness I felt rage at King et al for the way my friend has been led down a path I know will cause him so much more pain and suffering.
For his sake alone I wish things were not so.
In the meantime, well done bhoys.
I too have a very good friend here and we’ve been pals, good pals, for many years now. Both he and I made a pact never to let a game of football come between us and ruin what is a mutually beneficial friendship.I respect him and vice versa,I said to him when speaking of the pact We made,’if you love your team like I love mine,it doesn’t matter how good your manners, temperament and upbringing IS,when someone starts sly digs and nasty petty comments of sectarianism and bigotry, well it can get to even the most strong willed of Us.’
I’m very glad to say that We are STILL very good friends,so much so,that he is one of the handful of people that I would trust with my life, and that works both ways.
If anyone ever bad mouthed him in my company I would politely ask them to take it back, because to tar everyone with the same brush is wrong,We too have some first class idiots in Our support also.
Verified.
Still trying to verify this, but a wee birdie tells me that that the sevco club player of the year awards was taking place tonight and a bit of a stooshie occurred. I’ve been informed that some dignified peepel tried to storm the venue, that smoke bombs were set off and her majesty’s finest ended up guarding every door into and out of the place.
Nothing surprises me in Scottish Football any more. Scott Brown POTY – don’t make me laugh. Not only has he failed to score a single goal, he hasn’t looked like scoring a single goal. Sure he has played well but POTY? Really?
Your choice is…?
McGinn, by a mile
Why, did he lead his team to a double treble? HH
Another great day to be a Celtic supporter. Enjoyed it to the max in the company of my family.
They tried to bury us. They didn’t know we were seeds.(Mexican proverb seems perfect for today)
HAIL HAIL.
Rangers say that they have a plan B should Steven Gerard smell the coffee and extradite himself from the Govan mire.
It’s been announced that Mrs Doubtfire awaits in reserve to temper the tantrums of the six year olds.
Sorry Phil and contributors for overindulging today, but Jaysus.
Queen Elizabeth, Winston Churchill, King Billy, DUP, Oliver Cromwell, The Establishment, Loyal Orders. and SFA…..your boys took one hell of a beating.
The propaganda that has been coming out off ibrox tops the BBC coverage of The island of Ireland in The Last 30 years . And that takes some beating that’s a fact .
Phil, I see the “Daily Ranger” have a main story on Police Scotland being very disappointed with big Lustig. No mention of the SPFL/SFA or Broadcasting companies being very disappointed on no one from “Newco” meeting their Contractual obligations in speaking to the Media after the game.
Then again when do that lot every honour any Contracts.
Just a point on the Stevie G being the next “Newco” manager. Could this be a “Mo Johnstone” moment when they all expect him to sign for “Newco” but he arrives at Celtic to further his career? Developing story as you would say. HH on a beautiful Sunday evening in the “Dear Green Place.”
Sevco’ s demand (their entitlement) for protection wasn’t as heavily reported for today’s Parkhead fixture, as it has been for their upcoming journey to Easter Road. Police, however, to be prepared for any trouble or unsavoury behaviour detailed fifty officers to the Sevco dressing room.
SEVEN…..what a massacre..Clusterfuck’s last stand.
“If they tolerate this, then their children will be Celts, will be Celts, will be Celts, will be Celts”
I can see that last line catching on ?
Honey G has NOT ruled herself out of the running for the job…
Or Ali G.
I think Kenny G might just be the dark horse
Meanwhile Kenny G is too busy blowing his own trumpet. Mind you, I much prefer the saxophone to the flute……..can’t imagine why! HH
Maybe Staunch Stevie can draft in Mo Johnston as his #2: He’s got previous management experience and he’s a Real Rangers Man.
The Sevco story is a reflection not just on the parlous state of journalism in Scotland, but on capitalism itself, as played out in the fortunes of the Ibrox club. Why the media refuses to call out King is, in many ways, akin to the failure of the national press to predict the calamity of the 2007 financial crash. Everyone could see that things were happening which were financially irresponsible, but the system itself had no mechanism to ‘call it out’.
Now, many years on, the media has forgotten the crises of the past, whether in 2008 or 2012. Austerity is something that applies to everyone apart from the club that currently plays out of Ibrokes, which miraculously seems to be able to tap into various debt-fuelled sources of cash to keep it going, even with a convicted fraudster at its helm. The media is totally silent on this. No questions are asked to challenge the narrative which serves to deny any past crisis, or any current cash deficiency let alone scrutinise the credentials of the man in the chair at Scotland’s establishment football club.
Where do we go from here? For the sake of football, questions need to be put to the liar in chief at Ibrokes. Questions also need to be asked of BBC Scotland, and other media outlets as to why they are not pursuing the scandal of a convicted fraudster running a, ahem, Scottish institution.
On a positive note: thanks Phil for supplying some of that scrutiny, and thanks to Brendan and the Bhoys for a great day in the April sunshine at Paradise. Hail hail.
Mach1…
I wish I had said that…superbly well put…worthy of a proper mainstream media, probably an English (sadly!) broadsheet article…
Different class today Celtic. Special mention to big Boyata who was foot perfect……for a change.
Enjoy the party lads
HH
Thought Boyata was immense today brilliant game from the big man
Actually, Scott Brown would look the part on the door of a reputable nightclub. Could have scored 7 or 8 today
But Phil , “they are the people” and “a mighty club”. zzzzzzzzzz. Sorry I fell asleep.
Could have, should have been 9 or 10.
When you have opposition fans chanting the names of a couple of Rangers players you know the game’s up.
Over to you Stevie G.
Never mind the dross on the park the whole squad needs replaced but how can you move on players with well paid lengthy contracts?
Pena on his way back and Morelos looking as if they would do well to get the €1m paid for him.
The phantom transfer has came back to bite them as Alfie has a new long term contract with a huge increase in his basic wage.
The notion that Windass and Tavernier could attract £5m bids was well and truly put to bed today.
The onfield stuff is bad enough but King is in big trouble with TOP/COS, even though our media in the main would rather ignore it!
Super performance from the Bhoys today.
7 and counting.
I suffered as all Celts did during the EBT cheating years. The sneering belief of entitlement, supremacy by any means, the total disrespect of others…e.g. Dermot Desmond. Even today, the despicable way G Murty has been treated. The blazers continue to hide and offer false hopes.
What an utter disgrace to all that is good about football. Kilmarnock, Hibs, Aberdeen and Motherwell have my admiration. They have sought to challenge and given their financial constraints, have boxed well above their weight. They have done so fairly.
The true Celtic way is to acknowledge that. It is also to have sympathy with G Marty. The manner in which he has been thrown to the wolves, stabbed in the back and undermined by that arsehole King is criminal.
It’s about time that those who make money from making up stories and continue to peddle pish wished up and tried a bit of professional journalism. I live in the North of Ireland and read one regional paper each Saturday. That paper will praise Celtic when appropriate, and pan them also when needed. Brendan knows this paper. There is no bullshit. When I found Phil, I started to look at the Scottish papers on-line. It is unbelievable that Scotland has so many papers. It would be a sin for any true Celtic fan to afford any oxygen to the guff that they spout. Total lazy journalism.
I could only listen to the commentary of today’s rout on BBC’s 5 live. Even Roddy Forsoothe acknowledged the gulf between Celtic and the HUN.
Next week we will be fed the expectations of the second coming of the Messiah-one S Gerard. He will be followed with great riches. Forget about the ills that ferment in and around Ibrox: racism, sectarianism, cheating, unpaid bills etc etc.
Congratulations to everyone at Paradise. Thank you to Brendan, the Bhoys, and the magnificent fans
And let’s not forget Celts and others who were on the receiving end of the Govan Gangsters during the dark times.
Thank you Fergus Mc Cann. Thank you Dermot Desmond.
Hail Hail Phil.
Well said sir.
HH
Great Article. I was in Kuwait when Rangers went bust. I read the on-line papers to keep in touch with the Celtic news. I had Private Eye sent out every fortnight. I only knew Rangers were in trouble when it appeared in there. I turned to a Scots lad working with me, his reply was “Oh, Aye, We all know about it, but the press wont print it!”
Great post
What Charlie Saiz….
And as someone who did suffer during the dark times….you’re spot on.
Hail hail
