Glib and shameless assurances

It is not known what type of football manager Steven Gerrard will be.

He might be incompetent or imperious.

However, if he believes the assurances given to him by Mr David Cunningham King then he certainly isn’t incredulous.

Here is what Judge Southwood said of King’s penchant for mendacity in 2010:

We saw Mr. [Dave King] testify in chief and in cross-examination for four days and are unanimous in finding that he is a mendacious witness whose evidence should not be accepted on any issue unless it is supported by documents or other objective evidence. It was remarkable that Mr. [Dave King] showed no sign of embarrassment or any emotion when he conceded that he had lied to the Commissioner in a number of his income tax returns. In our assessment he is a glib and shameless liar.

You can read the full report here.

The success of the Off Licence Putsch of 2015 was also built on deceit.

His concert party colleagues believed that King was ready to funnel millions into Sevco.

He wasn’t.

They also believed that he would quickly pay back the money he had borrowed from them to buy the RIFC shares.

He hasn’t.

Of course, it is a given that The People consumed the King Kool-Aid along with their super lager.

They celebrated the way they cheered Craig Whyte down Edmiston Drive in May 2011.

Since the summer of 2012, The People had dreamed of a rich Bear who would bankroll their delusions of relevance.

In Mr King, they thought that their journey was over so they backed the “glib and shameless liar”.

In doing so they evicted from power a regime that was close to delivering a break even situation.

It was a massive own goal that is yet to be fully grasped in terms of its long-term consequences for the Engine Room Subsidiary.

All of this is worth re-visiting because the “L” word was used to Mr King last Friday by one of his concert party marks at the meeting of the Sevco High Command last Friday.

They now agree with Judge Southwood, but it is too late.

As well as being duplicitous Mr King is also capricious.

If you don’t believe me then solicit the views of the Admirable Warburton.

The ex-City trader was as surprised as the rest of us to learn that he had resigned from Sevco.

Throughout his playing career, Mr Gerrard showed immense in-game intelligence, a true gift that was nurtured by good coaches.

He also might have a nascent skill set to manage players and influence games from the technical area.

Then again he might not.

It is, currently, an unknown.

However, if he is happy with a handshake and a promise from Mr King then he hasn’t been paying attention.

  1. Jeff from amazon has is about to pump £500m into Glasgow Rangers. The brief to Stevie G – crush Celtic next season and he’ll double the investment for 2019/20 to fund winning the champions league.

  2. Fantastic performance from the bhoys today, couldn’t have asked for more though I’m sure they could have pumped the sevco dreck by another handful of goals.
I’m shocked and surprised about Gerrard going to the crumbledome but life is full of unusual events, especially down sevco way but a rookie has to cut his teeth somewhere. As mentioned by others I keep hearing that the Govan side are awaiting some major investment but strangely enough no one can provide names, details, proof or sources. So, is this Jabba giving it 100% pish or is there something on the horizon? HH

I see the Booze Jockey is back next week kicked out of the loan club he was at and the SMSM spewed it out there as well that they would buy him from the Klan oh how wrong they got it big time .Watch Frank Cannon at Level 5 spin this next week he will throw it out there that The Booze Jockey has met up with Stevie G to discuss how he will play a big part in next season .And the SMSM will go along with it papers and season books need to be bought and sold and will go hand in hand . Talking of Booze Jockeys I see Terry Mccann was at it again today sorry Neil Mccann always looking for a fight this clown does not know how to conduct himself a bit like the Bennys always someone else’s fault or to blame .It’s time this bawbag was taken to task come on someone grow a pair and sort him out before he does some real damage to someone or causes a riot somewhere.

Just a pity the rest of the thickos don’t get it either but I’m glad they don’t as it gives us something to laugh at .Oh how funny this will be when they end up with someone like Barry Fry as their manager .For if it is Stevie G I give you John the bawbag Barnes and look how that turned out so appoint Gerrard now.

  8. Just a thought, but the TOP final ruling said the share offer could be made by King or NOAL but it MUST be made. NOAL is based in the British Virgin Islands so how could the SARS be holding up the cash offer?

  9. Personally, I would be surprised if Gerrard was sufficiently ill-informed or credulous enough to take up the poisoned chalice at Ibrox. He’s not exactly Mensa material, but I imagine he’s well-connected enough to have access to info that would make all but a full-blown moron think twice.

Maybe he knows what a train wreck the club is, but thinks this makes it a win-win for him – no expectation of success, so nothing to lose. In which case he doesn’t fully grasp the scale of delusion among their support, which exceeds even that of Newcastle fans it its unhingedness – or the malice that will very possibly be directed towards himself and/or his family should it go tits up. Can he be simply oblivious to that reality? It seems unlikely.

But imagine he does sign! Not just the former England captain’s first management job, but one that puts him head-to-head with his former Liverpool boss and mentor! That is box office. It will really shine the spotlight on the Ibrox club, a genuine inquisitive media spotlight, accustomed to shedding light – as opposed to the fake SMSM spotlight trained to dazzle & blind. No longer will their trainwreck unfold in the cushioned alternate reality of Virtual Scotland – aka Planet Fitba – but in the full glare of actual publicity.

It will be a treat to behold.

C’mon Steven – sign on the line – you know you want to.

After all – what could possibly go wrong?

      • Wet wet wet right enough,I’m sorry to say that I really do wish your pants will be urine soaked.

The Hibees were excellent again, although I only saw some of the goals on a highlights app,but like you,I really hope they finish out of the Euro places.

Also, mainly due to their financial chicanery, and the cabal that is the sfa, they have no right to be playing in the league in the first place,BUT
what I find absolutely sickening is that I have yet to hear any sort of apology, printed or otherwise emanating from iboaks, and I doubt We ever will, given it hasn’t happened since their demise in 2012.

That tells me and the World, that they truly don’t give a monkeys flying entanglement about anything other than themselves.Hopefully Mr.Gerrard will have saw right through his glibness. After all he did say that his dealings would be transparent.

Thanks Phil,at least We are getting somewhere nearer to the truth thanks to your true investigative journalism.Graazie molto ??☮️ 1-?CFC? TAL

  10. I live and work in the UAE. The word out here amongst very balanced and sensible people is there is a consortium of very well connected and wealthy people with a affiliation to ibrox who have sought and secured financial support from locals to back a vanity project to reclaim Scottish league championship and champions league adventure. There is supposed to be a nibble be next season and trying out mr gerrard or Neil warnock and if it comes of then all good and cheap but if not the following season will be heavily backed both in finance and managerial appointment.

  11. I would not think he would be that stupid, gullible or totally mercenary but he fell on his backside once and if he takes this he will do it again. I think. However as has been said earlier, there has been no word from. Stevie G. Like many Inthink this is bull to hit ST’s yet it hasn’t been denied
However this constant referencing to Sevco’s demise reminds me of Mark Twain’s words. We are still waiting.

  12. well i think king will be happy with celtic getting 9 in a row, thats when the rangers fan will be taking out 2nd loans on there house, selling their wains, paying double season ticket prices, paying into anything King can come up with to the sell them the idea they can stop 10 in a row, then the will have the money to pay of all the debts and king will ride into the sunset with the whole lot, the end.

    • Charlie their tainted titles when they ‘equalled’ CFCs? 9iar is of no significance, due to the fact that they were attained by CHEATING.

I have absolutely no confidence in Scottish football ever having an impartial governing authority that will play by the rules of the sport ie.without favour and with real and true equality.

A new governing body is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY failing that IF We get the ten, well,as they say in The Dragons Den ‘I’M OUT’

Now folks reading this may well think that ‘I cannot be serious’ a la McEnroe.
But how can We play in a league when we KNOW the cards are marked and stacked in their favour.

This could only ever happen in Scotland ???????,a wee country knee deep in bigots and sectarianism. There is no other way forward other than completely overhauling the entire system.
      It really is that simple.

Again Mssr Fear I thank you sincerely, unfortunately I am in financial meltdown much like this ‘institution’ We speak of so often.

Phil I’m beginning to think I’m getting a wee handle on your actual personality and to be perfectly frank I can only wish I had a percentage of your total and utter dogged determination.Thank you.?? GTBON,I’m sure that isn’t too difficult to unravel.TAL.??

The new shirt I had for the weekends sevco game is still unworn, due to my poor health.I only hope that I can make health before the Final to go to the Our wee Celtic pub to enjoy the game with like minded people, real ‘people’.???????☮️

  15. Like the vast majority of Internet Bampots, I have no idea if SG will take the gig…nor do I care….Although McAllister would crawl over broken glass to be in charge at Govan.
My cynical view on most football managers is…
He’ll ask for a 3 year deal….at a salary I can only dream about…and if the wheels come of after one year…he gets the sack and walks away with millions.
    What’s not to like…?
Its what most of them do….in a revolving door industry.
Nah…I’m more concerned about our Manager…and his plans for tomorrow.
Before the game kicked off last week I offered the opinion that Rogic and McGregor should not have been in a team that was up against a mid-field of Rottweilers. Talented as these two are…they are lightweight in this kind of situation….and Lenny got his tactics with them…spot on.
Unfortunately…Brendan didnae….and took far too long to do something about it.
This mob will be hurtin’ tomorrow…and the slavering hordes that follow them, will be baying for blood.
So it will be interesting to see his chosen line-up for tomorrow…’cos one thing’s for sure….The manky mob won’t be lying down or pussy footing around.
    Over to you BR.

    • Midfield will be Brown, Ntcham, with Rogic, Forrest and McGregor in front of them. Edouard will start up front as I expect the hun to attempt a high press. Griffiths has little ability in holding up or knocking down the long ball

      • So that’s exactly the same as last week then…?
And it doesn’t matter who we’re playing…or where…its the same old same old..?
The Defence rests its case M’Lud.
Oh…and I’d have Griffiths before Edouard every day of the week.
        Just my opinion.

  17. Stevie G knocked back the MK Dons job so going by that he has decided to take yet another step down if he goes to Sevco.

They will get all the young Liverpool players that Liverpool do not want.

He will last one season wither Brendan is there or not.

Don’t do it Stevie, You will be making the mistake of your life.

  19. Phil I think Frank Cannon at Level 5 has worked for his money this week plenty of spin and a bit of overtime on fake news .The scottish mug journos always lap it all up but to get 5live sky sports and talksport to run with the Gerrard pish Fat Frank at Level 5 has earned his crust .But once this falls apart after Stevie G tells them to bolt what a good old chuckle we will have when they appoint another dud .By the time this fake news fades into the distance the Bennys will still be happy as the Chisler knows exactly how to play them and to take their money from them .I hope Stevie G counted his fingers after shaking hands with the Delboy of scottish football.

  20. You know what? They all deserve what they get.

For SG to sign on a handshake and a promise or a “nod and wink” would be magic in my opinion.

For my formative years in North Glasgow I, along with many friends danced along the street to the “big walk” innocently of course.

As i grew I got wondered what the “fuss” was about, my wee granny marched with them after all.

Then I started to see, my beat friend was from the other side an we grew apart when his family saw I kicked with my left foot, this and other slights I started to experience their hatred for me.

I never grew up with this being reciprocated by me but began to understand that I would have to choose sides.

I choose green, I then went on a journey supporting a team that can both initiate great depths of depression and elation in one game, especially against the blue.

For me, and I know this may shock some, a simple apology would suffice so we can all move on. That said I don’t expect it therefore I can only revel in their suffering and long may it last, purgatory if you will.

If SG wants a piece of that then so be it.

Excellent writing Phil, fresh, effervescent, informative and brave. I’m sure there’s more to come and I sit with breath a baited.

HH and good luck tomorrow the hoops
