Sevco’s Odyssey starts on a yellow card from UEFA

Now the real stuff begins.

Fresh from lifting the Close Season Cup, the club formed in 2012 now has to contend with one of those pesky competitive games.

First off, it’s a European match for Sevco, and the Ibrox klanbase are respectfully asked to leave their racism at the door.

That club statement should be an open goal for any functioning Fourth Estate.

Fortunately, for this new iteration of the Sevco High Command, they don’t have to worry about that.

Sadly, the poor dears think it’s no FARE.

Dear reader, allow me to translate:

“Box clever” is a plea to refrain from the racism that defines the Ibrox klanbase for one night only.

I wasn’t surprised to be told recently that, during a sit-down with some elements of the Sevco fan media, Mr Russell was gently interrogated about his values.

For the avoidance of doubt, the questioning wasn’t about whether or not he really believed in wingbacks.

Rather, the dignified queries were apropos the young Englishman’s world view, as it were.

Perhaps the Bears were probing for any traces of “woke ideologies“.

Awkward…

My understanding is that the new Sevco supremo responded by referencing the unintentionally hilarious ‘Everyone Anyone’ campaign.

Of course, when it was announced five years ago, no one in the local media thought it pertinent to ask why anyone in the Blue Room thought, in the 21st century, such a campaign was necessary.

I think it is fair to say that it has all its work ahead of it.

Especially as young Mr Russell gets about the work of seriously reducing the overall cost of the football department as ordered by the new Stateside owners.

The man without brogues knows that everyone anyone in his squad is up for sale.

  1. I have mixed feelings about Sevco getting pumped out of UEFA leagues. On the one hand, it’ll be richly deserved. After all, Sevconians need to learn their place. On the other hand, this’ll knacker Scotland’s co-efficient. Which will mean the honest teams in Scotland will have to play in more qualifying rounds before they get to the actual tournaments.

  2. The most sinister aspect of their statement/warning to their support is the “what UEFA deems racist and discriminatory” section.

Blame UEFA because nobody in this country deems it racist or discriminatory, not the SFA or SPFL or the media.

A disgraceful statement that they should be hauled over the coals for. Not one journalist will put their heads above the parapet for fear of being ostracised from the trough from which they drink or the fear of receiving bullets and bombs in the post.

It is an outrage that no one has called them out for “what UEFA deems”. What a twisted shower of animals.

“Don’t do it tonight chaps, but normal service resumes next week!”

I hope the M8, M74 and M77 are full of angry Sevconians come 9.45pm this evening.

  3. Surely by now Russell knows his players are not worth anything as all he’s done so far is increase the wage structure at Ibrokes with no teams interested in the serial losers. Every year the Hun loving media tell you that big clubs are bidding mega millions for their cross and by the end of the transfer window they are all still collecting sevco wages.
