Quite suddenly Sevco needs good neighbours

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Statement O’clock in the Blue Room by Monday at the latest when they confirmed that a deal was finally concluded over Hampden.

The Sevco High Command’s lack of clarification since the announcement last month has produced a lot of delightful content from the Ibrox klanbase.

All that anguish and impotent rage has been quite a sight!

It has been the summer of schadenfreude for the rest of Planet Fitba.

This is,at least, an attempt to assuage the suffering of Sevco’s customers.

This dignified attempt to soothe the Ibrox klanbase should be an open goal for any functioning Fourth Estate.

Fortunately, the Sevco High Command can rely on the quiet obedience of the Stenography Corps.

If the Blue Room chaps “crave certainty”, they should explain exactly what the problem is at the Copland stand.

Whatever now transpires, one thing is undeniable: the basket of assets will incur costs that it had not budgeted for.

A cynic might conclude that the SFA’s default setting would be to let them have Hampden for mates’ rates.

However, the brethren on the 6th floor of that stadium know that they’re under the microscope from the rest of the clubs in the country.

Operation Lipstick has been undone by a series of errors that are redolent of an Espanyol outfit.

Going for the cheap option, corners cut, and it will be “all right on the site” fingers crossed attitude.

I understand that the Sevco High Command has asked the folks at Hampden about the possibility of renting out the Mount Florida ground for the whole of the season.

My understanding is that   several scenarios were discussed  in a recent dignified conclave about  the availability of Hampden:

Option One is  Sevco playing there until October, Option Two is until the end of the year, and then there’s being there for all of the 2024-2025 campaign.

This leads me to conclude that this current impasse at the stadium John Brown played for is NOT entirely about a “delay in a materials shipment from Asia”.

Then there’s the issue around vendors and hospitality at Hampden.

My information is that some of the former still send their takings to a château in Normandy.

All part of  Charlie’s iconic Operation Overdraft.

For the avoidance of doubt, that isn’t the one that Little Rishi recently bailed from.

The man from Yorkshire with big hands has plenty of poppy from acquiring the body parts of the dead club.

Let we forget…

Overall, there isn’t a lot of love for the current homeless club in Planet Fitba.

They’ve even alienated their low-calorie cousins at the John Wilson Arena because of Operation Unsettle, an attempt to get the lad Shankland on the cheap.

The “no one likes us, we don’t care” attitude can have implications at difficult times like this.

If they don’t know what to do next and can’t think of an answer, they can always phone a Fenian:

I would remind  them, “Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.”

  1. The way they moaned about the Dundee pitch was embarrassing and now they have a stadium not fit for purpose. The truth of what they are hiding over there will come out in the end. We will have the celtic bloggers to thank for that because it will certainly not be coming from the rangers or the smsm. They are way too corrupt for that.

Strap yourselves in Bhoys and ghirls, this season is going to be a blast.

  2. I don’t know if anyone remembers when the North Stand wax built ?
The project had a completion date and penalty clauses if it was not finished by that date. Fergus pencilled in a friendly against Newcastle for the next day but I seem to remember the media being all over the fact that work continued into the small hours the day before the match. They either interviewed or made up quotes from local residents complaining about the noise.
I suppose right enothey can’t do that at Ibrox because nothing is happening.

  3. How much did it cost Celtic to rent out Hampden in the 90s and how much will it cost Sevco to rent it out now is a question we must all be told the answer to by the SFA.

  4. The construction of the new training facility is something to be proud of and a very welcome addition to Celtic’s asset register. The project is, however, somewhat different from the Ibrox debacle in that if does not have a critical target completion date ie.the start of the season. In that sense it is a much less risky project in regard to completion date. It is the case, however, that had Celtic been in the situation now existing at Ibrox thr SMSM would be all over it with their normal salivating glee.
I am too old now to undertake such work but I do think that there is the stuff of a damn good thesis for any Journalism student aa to the differing treatment and reporting styles employed by SMSM in dealing with both clubs.

  5. So much going on at Ibrox and yet there is nothing going on, some breeze blocks piled up for the sun to photograph and the scene is set, ‘It’s work in progress’.

Strange how this drip fed clusterfuck of a situation is a masterclass in prevarication and half-truths, and yet nobody seems too bothered, that is unless you are the local Ibrox competition who owns a pub or food venue, still their story will be told I am sure at some point..

Such a shame the local brits had nowhere to go for their annual rope dangling and canon firing exhibition, the poor Sevco souls will have PTSD with this lack of annual staunchness on display to marvel at, still the bonfire videos doing the rounds should suffice.

So Hampden it is, I can’t say there was any surprises in that one seeing they announced it weeks ago and promptly removed it from the radar website within four hours, it makes me wonder did I imagine it all. So, how this will work with cup games, given that the Govan team will have effectively a home advantage with them being familiar with the surface and it’s playing speed. I wonder if they will use Murrayfield as the neutral venue.

Ending on a happy note or two, I look forward to seeing how the SFA handle the financial doping side of things when they start their financial assistance for the beleaguered sevco..

  6. What’s going to be the small print In the deal/any deal.
Are they gonna be allowed a full house?Security & police costs, who pays what?Hospitality open?
Who pays for staff catering etc?
It’s not Ibrox where they get away all sorts

  7. What I have never understood from the outset,is why such defender of all things British, did they go abroad for the mechano pieces to try and add more seats to the asbestos dome.

Also, wee fergus is still managing to hurt them all these years after leaving. Because they are only trying to add more seats to try and catch up with us. God bless the bunnet.

  9. It’s embarrassing the wall of silence regards the ongoing farce at Ibrox .
What hold do this club have over the media .
What threats do they fear from the more right wing element of the support .
If this were any other club involved with such a fiasco it would be open season for the SMSM.
The total silence only infers they have something serious to hide from the Klan .
They must be tearing their hair out when they see how a well run club can put in place construction of a new training centre .

No slow boat from China for them .

  10. The overall financial impact of this is starting to feel very significant to a point where there may need to be a number of confetti issues arranged PDQ…Meanwhile on the various Staunch podcasts…there is a growing concern that things might not be as they seem…all they need or seem to want is a statement explaing the issue and a completion date to calm the nerves…what fun times…lol
