My regular readers will not have been surprised by dear Philippe’s comments, breathlessly reported in the Daily Radar, apropos the budgetary situation at Sevco. The forthright Belgian did not hold back:
“That’s the reality that the board told me a few months ago. I know this, the recruitment team knows this also. This is the reality of the club. I had other expectations when I came in in October, I have to say. But I know the reality now.”
Let’s have that again:
“I had other expectations when I came in in October.”
Ouch!
His words do seem to have landed with something of a bump on the Ibrox klanbase.
A few of them seem to be proving the predictive efficacy of the process described so eloquently by the late Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.
Dear reader, it appears that some of Sevco’s valued customers are beginning to accept the reality that their team may always just be simply the second best.
For the uninitiated, acceptance is the final stage of the bereavement journey in the Kübler-Ross model.
This is what being the Espanyol of Glasgow looks like.
For many at Ibrox, socialized and seduced into supremacism, this is hard to take, especially if they first attended the stadium John Brown played for during the financially doped 1990s.
As Celtic stack up the league titles after the Covid interregnum, there is a deep sense of loss and Beareavement across the city.
The situation is stark when even the dignified chaps at the Sevco Review just have to come out with it.
This site is free to view and fully searchable.
The realities of Philippe’s non-existent budget this summer have been consistently reported here.
Consequently, there is not much to add to this observation of my work compared to the succulent ones in the Stenography Corps.
If they fulfilled their Fourth Estate function, then I could do other things here in Dún na nGall.
After all, I have Gallant Allies and an Aberdonian publisher to support.
Anyway, smile, things could be worse.
For example, Jack Butland submitting a transfer request with a modest release clause in his contract.
That kinda worse…
Keep an eye out for Liam Kelly doing a lot of succulent media stuff.
There will always be the hard-core in the support over there but, large numbers of them are actually waking up to the reality of the shambolic state of affairs clearly playing out over there.
The banter years show no sign of letting up soon HH
Did anyone here ever imagine that someone by the name of Liam Kelly would be a first team regular at the stadium John Brown played for “
The reality of being second class has still not dawned on some Rangers fans. Will it dawn when we reach 56 titles? Will it dawn without a home ground for the year? Will it dawn when we reach ten in a row. What will it take?
A Rangers fan who is aged 30 has seen almost complete failure after failure. How many more failures will it take to appreciate being second class?
The reality is the Celtic have won 18 titles out of 25 in the 21st century and are favourites to make it 4 in a row next year.
Regarding Clement, his research on Rangers seems to have heen insufficient. If he had read this site for 30 minutes he might not have taken the job!
Whilst sevco’s overwhelming generosity, refurbishing hampden’s pitch and making a significant contribution to stadium income post-Pink, one wonders where this genius board have found the magic money tree which both funds their largesse and the unanticipated costs of rebuilding a small part of John Brown’s old stamping ground.
Bear in mind the loss of league/European income, the need to pay staff/utilities at a redundant facility, the loss of hospitality/corporate/ticket income, the need to pay contractors way beyond expected budgets, dealing with disappointed sponsors, Mike, Dave & Charles still wanting their slice.
Orange may not be the only fruit, but loyal supporters may start asking questions about how their club is being run, is there not someone capable of administering a damn good thrashing to the less than competent custodians of the engine room subsidiary.
Bring on The Administrator!!!!!
Sounds like an “adieu” from Le Manager as opposed to “au revoir”
Having read The Old Curiosity Shop, by Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde commented that “One must have a heart of stone to read the death of Little Nell without laughing”.
I’m starting to get it 😊
How long before Dear Philippe jumps from the good ship HMS Sevco
They have to offload players,
Fix whatever is going on regards the building work
Move to Hampden for a lot of the season
Anyone with any sense would be considering their future and disassociate themselves from the calamity going on .
As young Mr Butland is possibly considered
As ever the SMSM have been sworn to silence .
Cowards to a man each and every one .
Not reporting the facts .
If this was Celtic they would be camped outside.24/7
Aberdeen to finish 2nd this coming season?
Anyone, Anyone…..
HH
Backed Celtic, Dons & Mini Huns to finish in top 3 @200/1 ( in any order) and that bet has now been suspended.😉
Phil, if they are adding 600 disabled seats to their stand, won’t this lessen the capacity of the stand/ground?
They claim that they’re actually going to add to the capacity, which always seemed strange as you’d expect disabled seats requiring extra space and they’ve already filled in the corners and won’t be building over like the Club Deck on the mai stand.
One picture I saw may explain it, as it looked like the top tier would be expanded over the top of the bottom tier but it would be pretty claustrophobic!
Of course, if they replaced 599 existing seats with 600 new ones then they’ve increased capacity but I’m probably just being cynical.
Cheers
They’re demanding a statement from the board to let them know why there’s been no statement from the board!
No Close Season Cup and the notion that they will be forever in our shadow, acceptance has landed with some of the klan. HH
Great work again Phil , now relax and get ready for Donegal v Galway
Our revenge will be the laughter of our children.
My daughter is pissing herself.
