The season to be fearful at Ibrox

Like the seasonal arrival of some rare bird, it wouldn’t be European football without a racism warning at Ibrox.

I’m assured that the featured image is indeed a genuine email the eleven-year-old club sent to their valued customers.

It was certainly treated as such on dignified message boards.

Apparently, the email from the club was in response to discriminatory singing at the recent match against Hoffenheim.

Something about German bombers, I believe.

For the avoidance of doubt, World War Two chauvinism, so beloved by Ingerlund fans, can also be found amongst the Ibrox klanbase.

The comforting myth of Britain always being the global good guy and never committing war crimes is an article of faith in their worldview.

Dear reader, anyone who thinks the Ibrox matchday experience is redolent of “inclusion and togetherness” really hasn’t been paying attention.

The reality is that the top of the Ibrox song sheet is a ditty that fondly remembers a razor gang led by a self-identifying fascist who was also a member of the Ku Klux Klan.

When UEFA banned The Billy Boys in 2006, the Ibrox klanbase came up with the Famine Song as a replacement.

The common denominator in both musical offerings is hatred of Glasgow’s multi-generational Irish community.

I hope the UEFA match delegate tomorrow is au fait with the racism that defines many thousands of Sevco’s customers.

Of course, that person will receive no assistance from the local media as they will be in cover-up mode if the racists of Ibrox let rip.

  1. If Beale and his gallant men fail to progress to CL Groups, Wolves may well pick him up for zero monies as he’s relieved of Rangers duties with immediate effect.

  2. And talking of Beale being linked to Wolves… well it’s in The DR so must be true?

Strange though: you’d think The DR would self-censor.

Why link the sevco manager to another club – and just before a crucial CL qualifier?

…unless The Blue Room is ok with the article?

Yes, it’s only the bookies making up odds for the next Wolves manager,

but this extract indicates that Beale might actually be a good fit:

“Former Spain boss Lopetegui took over [Wolves] in November…
But the club’s chaotic financial position has led to speculation he could quit.”
