When first streamed, it quickly became a box office smash hit.
Definitely all action stuff.
Then there was a twist in the treason finale back in February 2019 that few saw coming.
Many felt personally betrayed.
It was a massive letdown for others, rather like when Tony Soprano looked up just as Meadow entered the diner.
Now the Celtic scriptwriters are tackling that problematic second season of Brendan in Paradise.
The sequel is always more challenging than the debut.
That’s why I’m so happy with Native Shore.
It is a sine qua non that you give the best lines to your villains.
They must be believable.
Sadly, I’ve yet to see any evidence of that in this new series.
For example, this plotline really should have come into contact with the cutting room floor.

A hat tip to the casting director, though.
Well, he certainly looks the part.
If everything in life comes back to the Godfather, then we have the Fredo fraternity in the North Curve.

They undoubtedly think they’re smart and want something for them.
The last time I had to address the issue of these “ultra” youngsters was in July 2017.
Sadly, the freedom fighters in that part of Celtic Park have not evolved.
Meanwhile, the comedy sketch writers across the city are on fire at the moment.
I think the dramatic juxtaposition of that nice Mr Bisgrove and Chairman Bennet will yield amazing storylines in the new season.
The idea that a sell-on clause is available to a club that had a player only on loan is a brilliant wheeze.
Now, a possibly more credible storyline exists in another dimension in the Fitba Multiverse.
Let’s imagine a player was loaned, and the fee for the loan period was £2m.
Half of that (£1m) was offset against the agreed transfer fee of £5m.
The club that he was loaned to, in the end, couldn’t come up with the £5m in one tranche, so the deal was off.
If the Sevco High Command has actually managed to insert a clause that gives them a sell-on fee for a player they never owned, then they have re-written the script for everyone on Planet Football!
I admit that my storyline is very prosaic and businesslike compared to the one that appeared in the Daily Record which is really off the radar.

The inconvenient truth for the Sevco High Command is that their work experience experiment in the Ibrox dressing room now faces a highly experienced manager who knows the league.
Moreover, Brendan is tooled up with a budget not seen at Celtic since the Martin O’Neill days.
My information is that he also has a backroom team that is on improved terms.
Consequently, the resources landscape, which was already an issue at Ibrox, has tipped massively against them with the return of the Irishman.
Given all of this, it is a testament to the Churchillian resolve of chairman Bennet that he isn’t totally losing it with everyone around him at the moment.

Chapeau!

We are quickly closing the gap to Rangers in total silverware won.
It’s always been their claim to fame but I have no doubt that with Brendan in charge we can surpass that number and overtake the Govan club within the next two years.
Rangers FC won 54 titles before thye were liquidated in 2012.
Sevco Scotland Limited, trading as The Rangers Football Club, have won one.
They Never won 54 titles. Just another myth.
53. Tiles They claimed one shared with Dumbarton.
Dwar Phil ,
I have zero connection to the Green Brigade or any such ‘ ultra ‘ group . I simply love Celtic , and I’m proud to call myself a ” Celtic Supporter ” .
Part of that pride comes from the fact that we as a club and as a support stand up for and defend certain values in how we conduct ourselves and behave towards others ( both those within the Celtic fraternity…and those outwith the ‘ Celtic Family ‘ ) .
Values such as Tolerance , Respect , Humility , Dignity ,Kindness etc….
One such value is that of Self-Respect .
I highlight this particular value , because
we must always be on the look out for those within our club and our fanbase and outwith , who will attempt to challenge , undermine or indeed attempt to eradicate any of those values which have been fought for and defended over many decades , which make us what we are…” Celtic ” !!!
Four years ago , we were as a club and a support ( almost to every man, woman and child ) left in utter shock and disbelief that the person who was in the figurehead position within the club we love , who for the previous two and a half years and almost on a weekly basis , had portrayed himself as ” one of us ” , someone who was ‘ brought up with Celtic values ‘ , a person who ” understood how the Celtic supporters think ” etc etc …we were in genuine shock , that he had , while we all slept , walked out on not only the club he professed to ” love ” , but also ” a Support I am one of and understand “.
It CANNOT be understated… the feeling of hurt , pain , disbelief and undoubted betrayal that this manager of ours thrust upon almost the entire Celtic Support throughout the world on the morning of 19th February 2019 ….due to his unquestionably selfish actions during the previous night .
He acted and behaved in a way that none of us who listened to , and bought into him and his outpourings of the previous 30 months could ever has conceived .
Moving forward to this very day , we as a support are being asked by the custodians of our beautiful football club , to ” Welcome Back ” this self same individual into this same managerial role that he abandoned on that February night for something that was obviously better for himself , in his eyes , than Celtic Football Club .
We live in a free world . A world where can generally come and go as we please .
However , with that freedom comes responsibility and consequences ,
So…when someone decides to , at a stroke , abandon a club and a support who invested their finances , commitment , emotions and indeed love in that individual , then he , in this case , has to accept the understandable consequences of that selfish action .
This is not, in any way , a difficult concept to understand .
Therefore….this ” Welcome Back ” is a two-way street .
In order to even hope to be accepted again by this same support that he abandoned and discarded back then , this man MUST, without a shadow of a doubt , ask to be Forgiven
!!
Forgiven , for the long-lasting pain and hurt HE caused that day .
And if that wholehearted , genuine and unconditional apology is forthcoming, then and only then , can a situation possibly be envisaged whereby the whole Celtic support can move forward together again behind this renewed manager .
With this show of Humility by him then it is possible….
Without such a public expression of Contrition , this unity is Impossible !!
For him to win Celtic Football matches or trophies will not change WHO HE IS on its own , for so many Celtic fans .
The calibre of this human being is not goung to be determined by whether his players score more goals than another football team .
His wrongdoing can only be mended by him displaying his regret and sorry for what he did , by way of a full and Heartfelt apology .
This is what I so desire as I write this Phil ….but my instinct tells me sadly that I doubt he has the Humility within to undertake such an essential step forward…
I simply pray that I am wrong !
And therein lies the self-imposed problem facing Celtic now faces .
A divided support !
And it did not have to be so…
Ans with that apology , its what the tenure of this manager will be defined by …more than any trophy haul !
That could have been said in about 3 sentences 😭😭
Whether you like it or not, Brendan is the manager for the next couple of years. Time to get behind him and the team.
Absolutely
Talking of mercenaries and delusion / cognitive dissonance…:

We must accept that sometime in the future – sooner or later – we will not win the league. We must prepare ourselves for this certainty and ensure it happens in the distant future by employing the best manager available.
Don’t expect that manager to have any emotional attachment to our club – remember Wim Jansen, who would have been welcomed back any time despite having no deep feelings for our club.
They don’t have the ability
Welcome back a champion to the champions
The bears will never look inside Ibrokes up until now they haven’t and as far as I can see they never will, they don’t have the self awareness of the ability to do so.
GB are young and idealistic,(which is commendable) but ultimately naive.Managers are now as mercenary as the players themselves, and they will come and go in two season cycles, maybe 3 seasons at a push.In the long run the fans will come to accept this. They have to because it’s coming anyway.
In effect Brendan has cost us nothing. He’s signed a 3 year deal at £3 million a year. We got £9 million in compensation from Leicester when he left so Leicester have basically paid up his contract. And he made a pretty penny from them when he left. Not a bad job if you can get it.
Any sustained criticism about Brendan’s appointment would only benefit Sevco. There are no ‘really lovely guys’ in top football management. The naysayers have every right to make their point-but they still need to get real.
Between McGinn and Shved Rodgers had a pretty good claim for constructive dismissal. Add the fact that Celtic got 9m for him then people need to dry their eyes. Sometimes it is better to get out regardless of timing. At least the Tillman spin gave us a laugh. The long term effects of the Saudi situation on all European clubs is more concerning. Develop a world class player and the rewards available to him and club are astronomical. Coaches who can develop players will be even more important in the very near future.
It’s infantile all the “cheating ex” “judas” narratives. The guy left for more money, and the Top 6 of England at the time. The relegation aside ( they had the players and time to prevent it), LCFC was on a downward trajectory with King Power it’s main lender; a duty free and luxury goods operator in SEA being hit hard with with Pandemic operations..
Brendan is on a hiding to nothing, trebles are expected and whilst his capabilities and league intel will probably deliver them, Operation Europa is the main objective. He delivers a Seville style run and immortality will be his.
Chairman Cantankerous in the blue room is an early CL exit and a couple of early dropped points away from a total meltdown. The city is awash with Investment pitchdeck confetti which have as much credibility as Bayern compensation squirrels.
There isn’t a single word on the GB banner that I disagree with.
However, he is here. I won’t trust a word that comes out of his mouth, but I will support the team. Celtic is bigger than all of them.
We get on things
totally agree, just can’t bring myself to listen to Rogers, wish him all the success for 2 years then hopefully he can move on as his teams have always regressed by the 3rd year.
A good run in Europe would be high on the list for this year
You are somewhat mentally challenged mate !
Yes and you’d think that – eventually – the penny will drop with the sevco support?
Beale is onto plums this season, with a squad of unwanted misfits plucked from the
bargain bins across Europe – yet talked up as free, quality signings ‘unearthed’ by Beale?
How long before the bears start looking within Ibrox,
as the source of their frustrations and rage…? 🙂
