An appointment that means business

This member of the National Union of Journalists has been to many, many press conferences.

The most memorable ones are car crashes.

Well, that one at Celtic Park today ( it starts at 23 minutes) wasn’t in that category.

If I were reporting back to an editor today, I would say two words to characterise the headline act in the presser:

“Professional” and “businesslike”.

Celtic’s quietly effective CEO Michael Nicholson also made a rare public appearance.

His personal style couldn’t be more different from the chap, the current chairman, who used to have his job.

Mr Lawwell started the proceedings and didn’t have anything else to add.

It was a Bankieresque performance from him, which is as it should be, especially as he almost certainly played little part in the recruitment process.

Brendan’s reference to Mark Lawwell and the recruitment team strongly hinted that the situation in February 2019 that led to his abrupt departure has now been addressed.

Indeed, the very idea that Michael Nicholson would imagine himself as a football professional, able to assess the qualities of a potential signing, is utterly risible.

The learned chap from Harper Macleod knows what he should be focussing on.

Moreover, he doesn’t think it’s all about him.

Appropriately the last words were with the man of the hour, “unified” and “together”.

The Sevco High Command is justified in being concerned about this appointment across the city.

  2. Hi Phil
Surely Celtic could have formed a relationship with a better named team than those Austrian fellows.
    With a name like
    Admir a Wacker
we will no doubt be the butt of many a joke in days to come!
    Hail! Hail!

    • Dia Muire duit.
      Not a fan.
If Celtic consider they’ve been impugned by adverse coverage then they can go to law-they can certainly afford it.
Excluding the media isn’t a good look.

        • The reasons for media outlets being banned is for saying things that were typical amongst the vast majority of Celtic fans until around a fortnight ago?

          Unless I’ve missed something?

Insane doublethink nonsense from the club.

      • It should have been buried when he left as CEO.

You really do seem to do a lot of popping up every time his name’s mentioned on any Celtic blog any time any place anywhere.

Is there a good reason for that?

Do you really scan all the blogs waiting for someone to insult him?

Because that’s exactly how it looks from here.
