Apparently, there are standards at Ibrox.
Moreover, they’re very proud of them.
The rest of Planet Fitba just sees a snarling Herrenvolk sense of entitlement.
They do seem to do anger very well, indeed.
In the Ibrox worldview, there is, in fairness, a lot to be angry about.
The cultural certainties of No Mean City are gone.
Like the British Empire and the original Rangers, the comforting hegemony that still defines the Ibrox matchday experience is dead.
The material base has changed irreversibly; it is just that the superstructure hasn’t, so far, been rapidly transformed.
Coming to terms with the altered status produces anger, a lot of anger.
Last night at the end of a match against the Celtic women’s team, this happened.

For the avoidance of doubt, I don’t know Mr Craig McPherson.
No doubt that he’s an exemplary chap and, undoubtedly, is also quintessentially British.
Apparently, it was a special occasion for the Ibrox chap yesterday.

Consequently, he might have been in, well, a heightened emotional state.
However, conceding a late equaliser to the team in the Hoops isn’t a mitigating factor for what looks like, prima facie, to be something worthy of a police investigation.
In this BBC piece, the word “reportedly” is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
At the time of writing, it still isn’t Statement O’clock at the stadium John Brown played for.

Did I mention anger?

more confetti shares issued today. – around 2 million quid. Where has all that Cl money/transfer money gone if they need to issue shares??
No matter the circumstances there is no get out of jail card for the Rangers coach.
An unprovoked attack in daylight caught on camera! It says a lot about the mentality of the individual who, at the very least, should have been immediately sacked from his current Ibrox role.
Oops, silly me. I’d forgotten the much self acclaimed standards held so dearly over in Govan.
It seems people still seem to forget that Duncan Ferguson was jailed because he was already on a suspended sentence for an assault on an off duty Policeman in Dundee when he later had his onfield “aberration”. He got exactly what he deserved
Think the assault on the policeman happened at a taxi rank in Stirling !
The media quoting “REPORTEDLY “ what a joke ,are they blind
People are quoting the Ranger’s Duncan Ferguson precedence but the fact he was found guilty and jailed for an on pitch assault was one of the biggest aberrations in Scottish legal history, it won’t happen again.
I wonder if machismo, like some pub thug, had anything to do with it surrounded by all that, albeit well hidden, femininity.
“ surrounded by all that, albeit well hidden femininity”, very poor taste mr green, no need for that kind of remark.
I disagree about Duncan Ferguson.
As far as I remember he was already on a suspended sentence for, I think, involvement in a street fight.
Once he was found guilty of another offence then the suspended sentence became active.
I don’t think he was jailed for the headbutt to John McStay. I think he was fined for that but that triggered the suspended sentence.
He was jailed because he was allready on bail for Police Assault !
The first SWPL game to be shown live on Sky Sports and it ends like this. What is the rest of the footballing world thinking of us?
Dignity & Respect FC lol
Looking for the positives in this, at least it wasn’t another Woman being assulted as usually happens when they dont win.
A cop mate of mine once told me “we prefer Rangers to win” I said “aye you would say that” (he was a Rangers fan) he said “you don`t understand, no-one dies when Rangers win”!
In any normal society the fact was caught on camera on a live TV broadcast would mean the person in question was guilty of the offence in question. But as a certain Mr Neil Francis Lennon cam testify, having the incident caught on camera in this country does not definitely result in a guilty verdict being passed, should the matter even end up in a court of law.
Police have confirmed that investigations are at an early stage to establish whether any criminality occured.
Hopefully there’s no one in the current VAR set up involved at looking at the incident as it may never get to the next level.
i can see the VAR result now…………………Penalty to Rangers!
Ha ha, so very true.
