Henrik Larsson is memorable on Planet Fitba for two reasons.
Firstly, he was a world-class player who arrived at Celtic at the height of his playing prowess.
Secondly, he cost the Parkhead outfit a mere £650,000.
Looking back, it was nothing less than miraculous that the imperious Swede spent his peak years in the Hoops.
What makes such events memorable is that they’re rare.
Now that the director of fantasy at Sevco will have to score five players like Henrik Larsson in the transfer market this summer.
This is especially challenging given that the Blue Room has recently decided that new arrivals shouldn’t be on any more than £12.5k per week.
Consequently, it was thoroughly decent of that nice Mr Beale to stay on message regarding the reduced budget.

Of course, regular readers will not have been surprised that the Sevco manager stated that he was after a quintet of Gumtree galacticos.
I asked a well-placed source if this new wage structure at Sevco was due to UEFA’s new FSR ordinances or simply cash flow issues.
The answer was unequivocal:
“Both”!
Meanwhile, across the city, they’re facing a commercial juggernaut that is funding the plans of a very capable manager.

It’s almost unfair.

I see that Tillman is available for anyone who can come up with the £5m demanded by Bayern.
Do the Ibrox club have that sort of free cash available especially if the Germans would prefer most of it up front?
When I was invited to vote for the Greatest Ever Celt…I was torn.
Having been lucky enough to be at Lisbon on that memorable day…Big Billy might have been my pick…But I also saw Jinky , on many an occasion, light up the game with his skill…But taking everything into account…I voted for The King of Kings.
On the field he was magnificent…and off the field he did not give the Club the slightest whiff of a scandal.
Wonderful professional….and we were so lucky to have him.
I wonder if the new wage structure will affect the players, whose contracts expire 30th of June, decision making process.
He was handsomely paid ?…ffd to an epl player earning more in a week than an average family earn 5 years .. rethink required
The gap is not that big according to my big rangers pal. The fact that he’s a pal, and a decent human being, stops me from pointing out the obvious. The financial gulf between the clubs is huge and long may it continue ☘🇮🇪
Beale is just confirming that he is a rookie manager.
He knows he won’t get the cash he needs to create his own team and squad, so he says he can do it on a budget?
Well,
1. In the unlikely event sevco comes into some spare cash, Beale simply won’t get to see any of it.
&
2.If sevco don’t win anything next season it’s all Beale’s fault: nothing to do with the Blue Room!
Beale must be worrying already about next season – assuming he’s still at Ibrox come July?
Henrik stayed in Glasgow mainly cos his wife n kids were happy there – proper hero xxx
He was also handsomely remunerated.
This was pre-CEO Lawwell, obviously.
He was also being paid more than most PL players at the time. Different days. Much as he was great in that first season, clearly enjoying himself after things not really clicking at Feyenoord, it was really O’Neill’s arrival three years later that catapulted him to world class status. In fact, O’Neill was the first to play him as a number 9 / the central focus of the attack.
Anyway, zero chance of Sevco (or Celtic) pulling off a signing like that again.
Hatate and Kyogo might have something to say about that!
