Some difficult decisions for Mickey

Spare a thought for that nice Mr Beale.

At a dignified conclave last week, he presented a very reasonable set of proposals to the Sevco High Command.

His reasoning was hard to argue with:

With nine of the first team going out the door, that should mean substantial savings that he could utilise.

On his quintessentially British wish list was a dignified request that the sports science department be brought up to Stevie G levels.

After all, he had become accustomed to this when he was part of the coaching set-up under Mr Gerrard.

Sadly, Mickey’s hopes were dashed.

Indeed, he was told that the putative quintet of players could quickly become a mere three if he demanded that level of off-field investment.

Quite simply, anything that goes into the sports science or scouting set-up would have to come out of the budget for players’ wages in the summer.

In fairness, he gave it his best shot deploying all of his charisma.

I’m told that his presentation was a well-researched seventeen-minute tour d’horizon.

Sadly, it elicited a thirty-second NO!

Fortunately for the brethren in the Blue Room, they will not be subjected to anything that resembles journalistic scrutiny from the Stenography Corps.

Consequently, no questions will be put into the Sevco press office about whether or not staff are being let go from the eleven-year-old club.

  1. See Goldson yesterday talking about their wee ‘mini league since Beale arrived’… he forgot our goal difference means we’re even winning that!!

  2. Question for our host: You have stated on numerous occasions over the past 11 years or so that the show continues so long as someone pays to keep the lights on, as evidenced by the numerous confetti issues. Are they now essentially forced into something approaching a “self-sustaining” model?

  3. I did a wee bit of research today on the wages of the players of both Celtic and sevco. They have 18 players earning over £10k/week. We have 17. They have TEN players earning over £20k/week, we have Three. Our highest paid player is Calmac. They have TWO players earning more. Neither of which would get on our bench.

  4. I see they have already started rebuilding. They are bringing up a 16 year old Manchester City ‘sensation’ for a week long trial. I hope he’s got relatives to give him a nice place to stay or Sevco will be charging him for board and lodgings.

    • Every youngster they sign is the next big thing. I even read Ryan Kent being described in the Daily Ranger as a “Former Liverpool star!”

From what stats I’ve been able to find on him, I can reveal that he made ONE first team appearance. I’ve not even been able to find out what competition it was in, who it was against or how long he was actually on the park. Star?? I think not.

      • You miss the point Charger. Everyone who plays for Sevco is a star because the Daily Retard says so. They did that for anyone who played for a dead club that used to play at the Wongadome. With or without succulent lamb.

  5. Failure to come away from Celtic Park in 2 weeks time without 3 points will effectively seal the title for the home team.
That’s when the pressure will really crank up on Beale with the Scottish Cup clash being his only get out of jail card.

  6. Mickey has a history of bailing out , firstly with Gerrard and then from Loftus Rd. It must be clear to him that if he is playing 2nd fiddle to Ange this season then next season will be a whole lot harder. He also knows how the locals react to being 2nd best and how those before him faired in that regard. A smart operator would want an out with a pay off sooner rather than later and the chance to find a new job in the close season . The promises made to him regarding funding may just have turned the relationship sour , he will react accordingly. Suited and booted act 2 imminent

  7. Why all the pessimism? I have been reading nothing but praise for Mr Beale and his prospects for success. Next season is going to be a golden one for Sevco, especially with their new squad which will be announced over coming months. Meanwhile, all the press reports point to an imminent implosion at Celtic with their manager and star players poised to exit. Apparently Paradise is not a happy place right now. You read it here (and in the Daily Record) first.

  8. Beale should have his agent out already – looking for his next club for next season.
Beale’s not going to get anywhere near the funds he needs to improve his squad to such an extent,
where he can produce a team to seriously challenge CFC, throughout the whole of next season.
It’s the Gio scenario on repeat:
Beale keeps quiet – to then get pelters from the bears and the Blue Room for not meeting their unrealistic expectations?
    OR
Beale bleats in the SMSM about his lack of funds – to then get criticised and punted by the Blue Room?
Beale should really have stayed at QPR: a club with realistic expectations – and a genuine Rangers history! 🙂
