I have just had a constructive conversation with the Armenian Consulate in Dublin.
The friendly spokesperson put me right on the Armenian protocols for foreign visitors in the era of Covid19.
He said that anyone arriving on a plane to Yerevan would have to prove that they had a negative PCR test in the preceding three days.
If they could not prove that they would be tested at the airport and quarantined until the results returned.
I then chatted with this very convivial chap about the weather in the capital city of his country.
Apparently, it is 91 degrees Fahrenheit (I never converted over) in Yerevan at the moment.
It might be a bit milder tomorrow in Yerevan, but it will still be 4800 feet above sea level.
Therefore, a bracing workout for Mr Gerrard’s charges against Alashkert three days before the first derby match of the season.

My thoughts are that Mr Gerrard and his Thinktank decided that can use the Covid situation to their advantage, forget Europa League, If they lose blame the covid situation to their gullible supports, The press with take care of getting the sympathy ear,
Rest some of the key players ahead of the Celtic game. Survival for them means fight for the champions league money, Win the league at all costs.
It’s a do or die situation
I don’t know whether or not this is normal protocol but it should be.
Tests for ALL teams in the league should be carried out by Government approved bodies who should then have a statutory obligation to immediately report any positive or inconclusive tests to the league, SFA and any relevant government body, track and trace or whatever.
ANYONE testing positive should be forced to self isolate immediately and if they break isolation rules go back to day one.
ANYONE returning an inconclusive result should not be allowed to take part in a match and should be kept away from the training ground until the same testing body can verify a negative test.
Whatever the cost, it would ensure a level playing field. I’ve long held suspicions about one particular team. I won’t mention an names but they’re a fairly recently formed club.
Better idea. stop testing healthy people who are not sick. this virus is so deadly you have to be tested to know you have it
Word on the street is some of their referees have tested positive.
Ach aw right! I’m only kidding! About the testing bit.
“Lights go,out,walls come tumbling down”.
Buffalo beaming on the plane, no mask and none in evidence about his person. Wasn’t that a red card offence 8 months ago when Celtic were involved? Maybe a question to the SG, SFA, SPFL?
We’ve been suspicious of the huns adhering to the government’s covid protocols and now karma is biting them on the a rse.
Thing is will other players contract it not to mention their partners , children etc and someone could fall really ill as a result. Lundsram mentioned it a while ago, so its been doing the rounds for days. Get them tested Sunday morning and do a proper drug test simultaneously.
Or preferably keep them in isolation in Armenia
3-0 loss for the derby? I doubt it. I’m sure the blazers will come up with some new rule allowing them to postpone until everyone is back to full fitness.
3-1 surely…ciz they would’ve got a penalty.
4800 ft above sea level, you’d not want to be having any sort of respiratory illness if you have to run about at that level.
