The Famine Song and the Famine Queen

A sense of irony is probably a sine qua non for all writers.

It certainly is for this one.

Consequently, I smiled quietly when this was dropped into my inbox today.

Dear reader, this is the subculture that produced the Famine Song have re-imagined themselves as statue defenders.

For the avoidance of doubt, I do not expect any of that misanthropic crapulous mob to grasp the crushing irony of them damaging the statue of Queen Victoria while belting out the Famine Song.

Indeed, at this stage, I am utterly convinced that a pre-requisite for being a member of the Ibrox klanbase is a complete lack of self-awareness.

I think that it is fair to say that they have no idea how the rest of Fair Caledonia now views them.

The decent people of Scotland have seriously had it with that racist subculture, yet they still have some friends in low places.

The world-class chaps on the 6th floor at Hampden are still hanging in there for them.

That  Five Way Agreement is still working its magic.

Of course, the shills in the Stenography Corps are doing their talentless best to deflect, minimise and mitigate on behalf of the Ibrox klanbase.

In the aftermath of the George Square carnage, I believe that there is now the political will to do something about this fascist underclass that coalesces around Ibrox.

Legislation from Holyrood might take some of that discretion away from the governing bodies.

Were that to happen, then I could find it highly…well…ironic.

  1. Would you find it ironic if, like OBFA a new law on strict liability impacted your own club rather than just the one you all assumed it would?

  2. You seriously believe the wee Tartan Tories in Bute House will punish their own foot soldiers, Phil?

As the OBFA proved, all and any legislation will be aimed at the Celtic support alone, with the Nats & their Masonic brothers in Police Scotland colluding once again to make it so.

Scotland is officially politically f*cked, for now and forever.

  3. Phil,

wouldn’t it be a nice gesture for the club playing out of Ibrox to offer to cover the costs of all the damage..seeing as they got out of paying a massive tax bill in 2012….

  4. Wasn’t it Victoria (or at least her royal protocol) that forced the Sultan of Turkey to vastly reduce his much needed donation to the Irish as the British couldn’t have him being seen to donate more than the Queen? I could be wrong with the details but I’m sure I can remember reading this in one of my Irish history books.

  5. It’s amazing the number of Peoples who claim to be “the People”. The Chinese look on Westerners as “Gweilou” or white ghosts and the Jews have “chosenness” and see themselves as “God’s chosen ones.Throughout history there have been many examples from the Conquistadors treatment of the South Americans to Germany’s “Übermensch” and their view of the rest of the world.
What is the difference between North America’s and Australia’s treatment of the Native American and the Aboriginies, repectively,
and South Africa’s former dealings with the Blacks? It all looks like Apartheid to me.

    We are all Humans, people!

There are those who say vote SNP and the Ibrox problem will go away but I think we have seen that is not true and could only get worse if Scotland withdraws into itself.

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” ― Edmund Burke.
Step forward: The Scotish media; SFA; Religeous Leaders; Parliaments both near and far; the Education System; the Parents or lack of; and the rest.

One thing is clear, this problem may owe a little to nature but it is certainly nurtured and tolerated in what passes for a society in this “Brave” land.

I don’t know anyone who says that!

      • There are quite a few and just because the SNP are anti-monarchy doesn’t mean they are not part of the whole Protestant hegemony.
“The Church of Scotland is a Presbyterian church and recognises only Jesus Christ as ‘King and Head of the Church’. The Queen therefore does not hold the title ‘Supreme Governor’ of the Church of Scotland; ”
An independent Scotland? “Out of the frying pan and into the fire” for the rest of us.

    • Edmund Burke was wrong, good men who do nothing are not good men, good men speak and act against injustice, good men who do nothing are part of the problem not the solution

  6. We had 4 yrs of peace when they were playing the likes of Alloa, Brechin, Stirling Alion etc. Who in their right mind threw them a lifeline?

Lawwell,Desmond, Reagan and Doncaster should hang their heads in shame.

Phil, (or anyone in the know)….Is Mike Ashley still owed millions for them breaching the merchandise contract , 2yrs ago ?

    • Institutional Racism report today on Islamophobia, describes the SFA to a tee on Anti Irish / Anti Catholic Racism.

The marauding huns of George Square are an embarrassment to Scotland, but Douglas Ross , to name just one do not see/ hear what we live with…as I said, Institutional Racism at work.

    • Phil, what the hell is going on? Just watched the clean up of George Square on the news.
Looks like the total figure will be £100k plus including damage to the statues.
If Glasgow Council are at this very moment not itemising a bill to be met by Rangers in its entirety then I urge all council tax payers in the City to deduct what they think is a reasonable figure from their next council tax payment and let the council ‘high heid yins’ know exactly why. It’s beyond embarrassment that Rangers have not already pledged to cover the council outlay!
As sure as hell I won’t be paying a penny towards the clean up costs for a bunch of morons causing mayhem in the city centre.
Rangers of course can recoup the council bill by adding £5 to the cost of each season ticket for next season across the board, job done, no need for more share confetti to be sprinkled.
