As regular readers will know I recently mentioned that Señor Alfredo José Morelos Aviléz had been in London for an important contractual conclave.
Today an impeccably placed source informed me that Lille Olympique Sporting Club had offered the Colombian a higher salary than he current gets at Sevco.

Moreover, my guy took the story forward and said that the French club “has bid just under six million Euro, with a bonus of over one million if he plays a set number of games. There is also a sell-on of fifteen per cent.”
At current exchange rates, €6m is £5,467,399.
If most, or all of it, is upfront then that is a very very tempting offer for the Sevco High Command.
If this deal goes ahead, then the Stenography Corps will be primed with the “Morelos chased out of Scotland by racists” narrative.

That will help firefight the fall out from the fact that the putative fees from various clubs never materialised.

Now, if Mr Let’s Go thinks he will get any of that transfer fee to reinvest, then I feel for him.

I really do…

Stevie G’s crying to the media that he needs more investment in his squad to stop 10IAR.
The Rangers board must be cringing at their manager’s demands.
Of course when it all goes tits up Stevie will just shrug his shoulders and say I told you so and you didn’t back me.
It looks as if they will kick the season off without Morelos and Defoe. Not ideal.
How much , if any, of the Morelos fee will find it’s way to the manager?
Given that the trading loss for the most recent financial year is likely to eclipse the previous year’s eight figure loss it doesn’t look good for those who have already propped up the show with millions of their hard earned cash which was converted to more equity in a company that has never returned a trading profit and shows no signs of doing so in the near future without access to CL Group Stage monies, another 18 months at least before that dream can become a reality.
If the August 1st launch with Castore hits problems because of ‘legacy’ contract issues with Sports Direct then what?
Oh and bye the bye, Celtic better get their finger out and ensure that the problems today, with many failing to gain access to the home friendly via their virtual Season Ticket, are not repeated again.

Lille have held talks with Rangers regarding striker Alfredo Morelos but the Ibrox club have not received an offer from the French club.
very interesting happenings HH Here we go 10IAR
I wonder if Slippy will be given enough money to replace him with a striker who can actually score against us. HH
Phil, sorry but …You forgot the ‘offers’ and ‘interest’ from…
Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla, Barcelona
Leicester City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Everton, Arsenal
Lazio, , Napoli
Let the bidding war commence.
If we’re going to have an auction then I’ll start things off with a quid but that is my max. I honestly don’t think he’s worth any more than that.
Sound about the going rate for a striker that has as many goals against opposition of a lower quality, his euro golas probably bumped the price up.
Considering Slippy spent 7m on Kent I can’t see them purchasing anything that will even touch 20 per year up front.
This puts the board in a precarious position, need the money but need the goals. Keep him for goals is a risky business as he could very well down tools.
All in all a win for the hoops.
What happen to the £50mil
Big Ajer has more goals against Celtic than he managed!!!
Those are numbers you have just made up, aren’t they?
Cue nonsense about him being driven out by racism (no doubt the statement about that recently was your starter for ten on that one). Oh and no donut that c.£5.5m fee you refer to will be £55m by the end of the week. That’s Ibrox accountancy for you though!!
This is terrible news.
So soon after the departure of Smiler King, the loss of the chubster Morelos will kill the amusement levels of the Ibrox sitcom.
Morelos must stay! 🙂
I wish him well. He is young and impressionable and has spent too long without any meaningful guidance. Couple that with money and you’ve got a recipe for bad things to happen. Maybe a different club with a different ethos will help him lose some of his bad habits – both on and off the field – and realise his real potential as a player. And maybe Sevco could reflect that if they had a stronger emphasis on developing young players rather than hiring end-of-career players, they might have been able to help Sr Morelos choose a better path and also have got twice the transfer fee for him.
I agree. With a proper mentor and a professionally run club he could have went a lot further. No wonder his agent was trying to get Rodgers and Celtic to take notice (irrespective of what people think of Rodgers now, he WAS great man manager- turned average players into great ones).
if they get that they should thank there lucky stars to much in my opinion
