It is a given that the Covid19 lockdown would suck disposable income out of the economy.
Buying a season ticket from a football club is not as important as a mortgage payment or the weekly grocery bill.
Therefore, crayon o’clock had something a little different today.
I’m sure you will agree that’s some rousing stuff from Sevco’s manager.
However, a cynic might conclude that Mr Gerrard’s words were indicative of a season ticket renewal crisis at Ibrox.
I, of course, couldn’t possibly comment.
The extension of the renewal period is probably more significant than the decision to freeze prices.
One thing that Mr Doncaster dealt with at some length in his recent outing in the media was the criteria for loans from the SPFL to member clubs.
He reminded his interviewer that Gretna had been loaned money but had subsequently gone bust.
Consequently, the league did not receive those monies back.
An impeccably placed source has told me that Sevco did ask about the possibility of such a subvention.
My information is that the eight-year-old club was reminded of the criteria for SPFL loans.
Something to do with a club’s financials having to be assessed by the SPFL’s appointed auditors or some such.
After that information was imparted to the chaps in the Blue Room, there were no further communications on the matter.
However, just after that, the angry statements from Sevco commenced.
I am sure that is an entirely coincidental development.
Meanwhile, it is always a good idea to follow follow the money.
Or the lack of it…
Citizen Journalists that pursue the truth.
A sentence I’ve just heard on Sky.
Controlling the press and wider media has weaker influence than it ever did. Every person can now be an investigative journalist and publish online findings, allegations, truths, opinions,….
Not being able to control the media narrative in their favour, thus being able to manipulate more and more educated and informed fans, certainly works against the Sevco dark arts.
Sevco are desperately looking for a convenient way out of this. Without showing evidence.
FFS Noel Whelan former Aberdeen striker now blessing us with his insight into the SPFL row.
Quote ‘Rangers wouldn’t be going down this road unless they had the ammunition.’
Really Noel, really?
Alledgedly the same club that made tax free EBT payments to players and staff, failed to include the payments in the contracts lodged with the SFA, issued side letters that blew the legality of the payments clean out of the water then tried to hide the evidence from HMRC. Claiming to be the same entity that is currently being liquidated. Claiming the trophies wom by Rangers 1872.
Really, Noel, they can’t be trusted in any matter. Don’t you realise that they are trying to use the Pandemic to deny Celtic 9 IAR, nothing more, nothing less and using eejits like you to promote the message and pick up a few bob for your ramblings.
This is a sure sign that Rangers are fast running out of former players, pundits etc to feed the media with any sort of shite which they just print without question.
It’s only a matter of time now before the BBC or Sky dig up the body of a long time deceased former Rangers player, stuff him with straw, dress him up, stick him in front of the cameras and tell us what his thoughts are with sub titles running along the bottom of the screen.
Sub titles provided for free by a Sky clairvoyant in touch with the dead and from the same family that gave us the Morelosgate translation.
How feckin desperate is the media getting when the likes of Noel Whelan is wheeled out to spout pish?
The Ibrox Klanbase greeting the season ticket renewal drive by Sevco with mixed feelings. A particular source of irk is the £25 rebate offered by the club against merchandise. Some complaining that the gesture is an insult considering the money trousered for games which won’t be played. Some are going to renew their season tickets hell or high water others feeling the financial pinch brought on by the pandemic. The infighting amongst their supporters has started. Some of it relating to the season tickets some worried that the famous dossier will prove an embarrassment to the club. A lot of anger towards the players for not taking a payout. Some hints of some of the fans understanding the financial abyss the club is staring into. Most seem blissfully unaware.
Their fixation with Celtic is sad. Their bigotry is scary. It’s never boring reading hollow hollow.
Everything, absolutely everything, is Sevco death deflection.
And Sevco isn’t Rangers because Rangers died in liquidation in 2012.
Come on, who are RIFC PLC trying to kid? Where’s your evidence Park? Where is it? Where is it? We’re into May already.
The SPFL have been proven right to do as the lower leagues wanted; close the leagues award the money and protect the lockdown, protect the NHS, protect lives.
You’re vile malicious attack that the SPFL is corrupt, that the resolution position was wrong and three named men should stand down requires you to show your evidence or be disciplined.
Park needs disciplined.
There is a correction to be applied to the first sentence of the latest crayon offering I think.
” THANK you for your incredible backing in season 2019/20 so far. Your loyalty will never be taken for granted and we are desperate. ”
There, sorted.
Sevco’s latest announcement is basically “thank you for your support. It’s unlikely that we will get to play our remaining 4 home games due to this pandemic, do here’s a wee voucher for TWENTY-FIVE POUNDS”.
Now, I’m assuming that a season book entitles the holder to 20 home games. Working on the basis that a season ticket costs £500, which is then divided by 20, then the value of each game is £25. For the sake of repeating myself here, in what way are the zombies being offered value for money?
Think about it – in essence, they are saying “we have no money, so we cannot offer refunds, but likewise, we cannot afford to give you all what you are entitled to, by way of discount vouchers, so that’s your lot!”.
The best part is: these eejits will accept what they are being given!
“These times are unlike any we have witnessed before.”
“I need only take myself back to our Europa League win over Braga.”
“It really is one special place and I am absolutely sure that you, just the same as I, cannot wait to be back there.”
Good to see that Slippy G has been using the hiatus to improve his written English.
Or was it just handed to him by a most loyal OOPR man ?
Sorry – stupid question !
Stevie G resurfaces with his ‘please, please, please buy season tickets now, your club needs you cry.
All very well and a perfect opportunity for the Scottish media to ask some questions of the former England and Liverpool captain.
Having spent all those years with the Reds and won everything apart from a league title surely the obvious question that any self respecting journalist would ask is ‘ Stevie, if the EPL cannot be played out to a finish should Liverpool be crowned champions?’
I would guess that his answer would be YES despite there being a mathematical chance of being caught.
Now ask the same question of the SPFL situation!
Brilliant Stevie G, just brilliant……Rangers make Glasgow! Ha ha, ha ha, ha ha feckin ha. I wonder what PR guru put those words in your mouth?
I’m amazed he didn’t finish off with a WATP and No Surrender cry! The latter was probably on his lips till the memory of his team’s collapse after the winter break did in fact constitute a definitive surrender.
Aye Stevie, it’s been a long time since 2003 when you were hobnobbing with the Celtic big hitters in Seville, complete with your green and white strip.
It’s nothing other than a response to the Celtic chant that ‘Glasgow’s Green and White’ but completely without any basis.
Has been for years and will continue for the forseeable.
2nd place is last in Glasgow Stevie, suck it up.
For a couple of years there was hardly a blue strip to be seen on the streets due to the merchandising shambles, a shambles that’s rumbling on and despite a desperate cry for someone, anyone, to step up to the plate, the Sports Direct matching clause and the grief that Elite and Hummel have experienced won’t go unnoticed by potential partners.
The lack of PR experience at Ibrox is shining brightly as each day and each statement o clock ticks by, though I suppose the DUP guru comes considerably cheaper than Traynor.
But as the old adage says you only get what you pay for.
I see Donald Findlay has popped up with a claim that Rangers have lost their way, which not surprisingly has quickly seen him added to the ‘haters’ list.
Welcome to the club Donald.
TRFC has been given a KB from the SPFL for a loan?
I’m guessing the Blue Room was fully aware of any loan criteria – before they asked for, (or demanded), financial help.
I’m also guessing that the SPFL must be fully aware of what a loan rejection could mean for TRFC, (which is also rather surprising).
An SPFL loan rejection could also indicate;
– that the Directors are indeed fully tapped out now – and there are no other external sources of funding to turn to,
&
– that the wild accusations, rabble rousing and general thrashing about in the media is the sign of a club in its death throes…? 🙂
I would assume there is a Uefa cheque still to come to them that may keep the wolves at bay but as I have mentioned once or twice it would not be good busines practice to sell SB tickets based on past years. The game’s a bogey, phase I of this virus of this virus is subsiding BoJo tells us there is a long way to go and I doubt we will have any normality in sport this year at all. This will impact the best of clubs and especially those who have not been fiscally prudent.
There is more than one thing that can kill sevco and they are all lining up for imminent impact.
Can WhatsApp evidence be used in a court of law? Dundee have came out and blown the argument out the water. Sevco are probably stopping all SPFL clubs getting the money they need to plan for the next year. No doubt some clubs have had some financial help already.
Will Park come out and state in the interest of all clubs he withdraws his allegations, making him the good guy, quite possibly. Does he have any other strategy other than to wait it out and his mission fail miserably but to be spun as an injustice without any facts, keeps the Klan on side.
There will be an almighty turnover of staff to come. By my reckoning >60% of players will be moved on, remember the Setanta issue of year’s ago this will eclipse that for me. It might prove to be a good thing in general for Scottish football and the youth set up may shine as it did for Scott Brown and more.
The Setanta years are about to repeat but with much far reaching consequences. Clubs will need to get creative on what theys sell as a product, full houses will not be seen this year. TV may provide some respite with much more in the way of PPV, streaming options with restrictions in pubs and other gatherings. We may even see Lockdowns continue all year at weekends allowing most to work.
Sevco think they have the power to take the SPFL company down, they do not, they will just ensure that a few hundred grand is expended on hot air and crayola dossiers. Most Scottish clubs will survive what’s to come but we may be about to see the return of the banter years for Sevco.
Oldco – Sevco – Newco or maybe even Noco. It will come down to a few to agree if it’s Administration or Liquidation, greedy men will decide but that’s who sevco have gotten into bed with.Of cours A club will survive as alway the business will be the thing impacted 🙂 Not sure the can rely on such goodwill from Hampden this time, they don’t seem to be making as many friends along the way.
It’s Friday, is there going to be something juicy after 5 tonight..!!!
Whats App has end to end encryption and is very secure so what is on screen should be what was sent. That said, Whats App will co-operate with law enforcement etc.
If there are other ways of decisions being made via Video conferencing on important matters one does wonder how this works within the court system for companies who have a outstanding judgment against them.
PSG awarded the French League 1 as Champions on average points per game.
Bottom clubs relegated.
PSG were 12 points clear at the top.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52484926
Celtic are 13 points clear.
This season will not restart, too many are still dying each day. The only reasonable Hope is that next season starts on time and not at the end of the year.
Unless players have six foot legs, they need to get closer than 2m to each other. Why should sportsmen be allowed to uniquely flaunt social distancing rules in place until 2021?
The good news about relegating Hearts means that in all seasons going forward the bottom clubs will need to work hard to keep off the bottom in case the league is stopped. That makes for a better league. Ditto top teams getting on top and staying there to win it. There will be no holding back and it will be more competitive.
The bottom team gets relegated every season. They deserve it.
Gerrard has been told no wages unless there’s season ticket sales. No match day income no wages.
Gerrard is quite simply singing for his undeserved supper.
Sevco needed CELTIC to lose five games and Sevco to win five games to leapfrog Celtic. When performances suggested the reverse was more likely.
Anyone who dares suggest this season isn’t owned by Celtic is simply a silly shit stirrer. McCoist is a silly shit stirrer with limited nouse.
98.87% probability of Celtic winning the league. Let’s round it up to 98.9%. Or let’s round it up to 99%.
1% chance of DUPSevco winning it. There’s no legal argument here or any doubts in anyone’s minds.
DUPSevco are losers again this season. Na Na NaNa Na.
The Sevco have also just launched their ‘My Gers’ membership scheme which appears to be a £50-£100 per annum fee to get a 10% discount on dog bowls and next seasons shirt which (in)conveniently doesn’t exist….
Bargain
And they’re stupid enough to buy a dog just so’s they can reap the benefit of that 10% discount!! 😂
If the Ibrox club don’t get the support required from other clubs, what next for them?
With every day that passes the chances of any football in Scotland before August is next to nil.
Time for the SPFL to call the league finished with average points used to decide the final placings.
Doncaster has made it clear that SPFL staff are routinely being harrassed and abused due to Rangers dog whistling,
God only knows how they will react when the SPFL call Celtic as deserved Champions.
Of course McCoist, back in the day, also opted for the dog whistle when he called for the names to be made public of those who had made a decision at the SFA that he didn’t like when he, and the club, were already aware of who they were.
As everyone else is fully aware the sole intention of Rangers is to stop 9 IAR, nothing more, nothing less.
They have failed miserably on the park, had null and void dismissed as a no go, and are now via a friendly media are inciting their fan base with claims that have not been substantiated, and may never be.
The SPFL have responded but it’s clear that as long as Rangers don’t get their way then the sniping will continue.
The worst of the rage is still to come after Celtic are called as Champions.
The SFA/SPFL cannot allow the mud slinging to continue and must crack down on Rangers.
Threaten them with a review of the Nimmo Smith whitewash and a review of the Bryson EBT players registration and strip them of everything won during the EBT years.
Would also be a good time to make public the name of whoever made the 2011/12 fraudulent UEFA licence application on behalf of Rangers.
Additionally Maxwell might give us a clue as to why AlistairJohnston has not been given Fit and Proper status as a member of the Ibrox board, a situation that has gone on for ever!
Really like your post Joseph, but think you’re a tad optimistic as regards how the reptiles will react.
Proper Loyalty.
They are struggeling, of that there is no doubt, having to put Gerard out to tell us all that Glasgow is rangers or vice versa and all that other guff, is a desperate attempt to sell season book tickets, which are not selling as they would like. Amazes me how people like Gerard are so rangers minded when at the spam factory, but if he went elsewhere tomorrow he would change again. He is quite simply a hired gun. No more than that.
Last year the Unique Selling Point (USP) was back Stevie lads, buy your tickets to stop the nine.
This year it’s erm…. eh…. stop the nine? Stop the ten?? Ehm, eh will Gerrard still be here? Will the club still be here??
Oh fuck it!……. Glasgow izz Rainjurz. Rainjurz iz Glasgow! Geez yir money fuds!
Putting Gerrard’s image to good use there with the begging letters going out , though some who buy the luxury side of things season ticket wise if there is luxury at ibrox are blowing a fuse at the increase for this for the season . This is something that ain’t been frozen price wise apparently heavy duty inflation on this luxury . Don’t know if Bar 72 or club deck or something like that but KERCHING comes to mind .
“Not selling as they would like”
They only went on sale this morning ya clown
Don’t shoot the messenger this was from Klan members on FF ya clown .
Sevco makes Glasgow. The arrogance of that statement. What about the other clubs in the City. This club is a laughing stock and statements like these just add fuel to the fire. Sevco are a stain on a great Scottish city.
Rangers make Glasgow quote has been given to Gerrard by some DUP guy masquerading as a PR professional.
It looks pretty tame when compared with our chant of Glasgow’s Green and White.
Gerrard knows full well that 2nd in Glasgow is akin to last no matter what propaganda he’s repeating.
For all the previous PR guys faults he makes his replacement look the amateur he is.
