Ibrox emotions

Mr John Brown is clearly an emotionally spontaneous chap.

This piece of mine from June 2012 will attest to that fact.

In the Summer of Liquidation, he stepped forward on the steps of the stadium he played for to rally the Ibrox klanbase.

It was rousing stuff.

Now it appears that his dignified summarising on Sevco TV has caused some problems for the basket of assets.

For posterity, here is the entire thing from Statement O’clock today.

One key component of the liquidation scenario was that the people at Hampden were, to be polite, rather laissez-faire regarding the brethren in the Blue Room.

That is the charitable explanation for a decade of EBTs and “imperfectly registered” players.

Obviously a local Fourth estate who were obediently looking the other way was also part of the impending shitshow.

All it took was some pesky outsiders, such as the City of London Police (the Boumsong raid) and HMRC inspectors, to bring the entire edifice crashing down.

Consequently, seeing the new regime at Ibrox having a go at the SFA does make your humble correspondent smile.

I hope you’re enjoying the summer!

  1. Having read all the comments cannot agree more.
But, but, but. Shuggy, Wullie and Finbar did same, we are different, we don’t care

  2. I love the ‘spontaneous’ route they’re going with… It was that spontaneous, he doubled down on it..
We’ve all made an erse of ourselves, and put our hands up to it…
We all know nothing will happen to them.. They’ve been guilty of various bottles, assaults,
missiles/projectiles,,, weapons being stored in their toilets etc,, but not punished by the Scottish authorities.. The ‘powers that be’ are the problem..
We need to hold them to account….

  3. “No one likes us, we don’t care”. Turns out they are actually quite a sensitive bunch.

You reap what you sow Sevco. Long may your sense of injustice fester.

  4. My Lourdes SS School, maths teacher and ex-Celtic player, Matt Lynch used to say to us boys, “do you follow, follow? When explaining a theory in class. I realise it was a great attention graber for teenage, Celtic supporting boys growing up in the early 60’s in Glasgow. I blame Jim Sharp for distracting me and making me fail maths O levels. But I did have a great time playing Subouteo at his house, with Colin MacDonald dodging school. I have to name and shame them! I was also shit at maths and Subuteo.

  5. We’ll strike a light !!! Does this mean that going forward from this Statement that Rangers want the rules to be applied in the correct manner . I ask as there are a lot of them and we as Scottish Football Fans have seen them not being applied in the correct manner for 🤔 a number of seasons and if I am being totally honest those decisions which were made seemed to benefit a particular club but did the SFA apply those correctly . We were told it was honest mistakes . So that’s alright then what a bunch or sanctimonious cretins they are .
If back in the day the rules had been applied correctly then Rangers would have had to apply to join the league as a totally new club . But it was a bit of a rush to make up a special rule so they could play. Which meant that in effect there were 2 Rangers football clubs playing but only 1 registration available which belonged to the Club that had just entered administration/liquidation . Now I am sure that if I am wrong someone will put the record straight.

  6. International Rangers’ complaint was perhaps “imperfectly registered”?
It’s nice to see such a strong sense of justice from a fan base with a “perfectly registered” sense of what real corruption is.

  8. Yes, let’s revisit the consistency of the authorities on player registrations, league membership applications, etc in 2012 and thereafter….

  9. So, are we to assume that Rangers checked all in house match commentaries from all other SPFL clubs looking for inappropriate comments or are they just are they just throwing it out there that there may have been some? The SFA should ask them to give examples. I am willing to bet that they will be unable to provide any.
