It would be difficult not to feel for Mr Gerrard at the moment as he toils in the Sevco job.

However, no one in the Sevco High Command could probably see the result against the Accies on the horizon.
Therefore, today seems to have been a change of direction.
The back pages do seem to indicate that the ground is being prepared for Mr Let’s go being let go.
It is worth remembering that the last thing the Convict Chairman needs at the moment is disruption art the basket of assets.
He really would like someone to buy his rather worthless shares in RIFC.
Moreover, the banker of last resort for Sevco is the Ibrox klanbase.
If they turn, then it is a major problem.

There does remain the issue of the extensive backroom team that he brought in two years ago.
Managing the expectations of the Ibrox klanbase remains THE most important objective of the Sevco High Command.
Mr Gerrard may well find out soon that his reputation will be collateral damage in that one.
However, unlike the Admirable Warburton and Poor Pedro, the Liverpool legend has unfettered access to TV studios in London.
Anyone in Blue Room who thinks that they can trash Stevie G’s reputation and suffer no push back.
It is all now about managing his departure with the minimum financial cost and limiting any PR damage to the Ibrox brand.

Your update on the Newco situation fits well with your generous description of Stevie G as a ‘nice guy in the wrong movie’. Gerrard’s use of the term ‘all in’ does maybe raise the question as to the exact extent of his exposure to an Ibrox implosion, at least financially. It is sincerely to be hoped that he has not made any financial commitments beyond his contractual terms at a time when Sevco really has to start thinking about self-imposed austerity. Further success in the Europa might merely serve to increase the financial pressure, and ramp up unrealistic expectations.
Given the circumstances, and King’s continued fell presence, surely the SPL needs to be taking some preventative measures for the sake of the Scottish game…. or are they simply washing their hands of it, as we have all been advised in an attempt to contain the new Covid virus?
