Just checking in

It is always a good idea to make sure that your key personnel are happy at their work.

Therefore, I was interested to hear that the Serious Professional was dispatched yesterday to check in with Mr Let’s Go.

Apparently, it was just that.

Checking in.

As in “we still good here?”

I’m sure that the Sevco High Command are not worried in the least that their manager would Do Walking Away should a suitable managerial vacancy arise in the EPL.

Perish the thought…

For the avoidance of doubt, with the exception of Mr Gary McAlister, I would expect Mr Gerrard to take all of his backroom team with him in that highly unlikely scenario.

I have written before that hiring the ex-Liverpool captain was a masterstroke by the Convict Chairman.

It immediately dealt with a looming season ticket renewal crisis ad opened the door for high-quality loan players from Anfield.

Consequently, losing him would be a blow.

I can think of a few folks at Ibrox who would be distraught to see the back of him.

Were that to happen the basket of assets would receive compensation.

They certainly need it.

Yesterday a colleague of Rugger Guy, who similarly is qualified got back to me.

I had supplied him with the last three years of RIFC annual accounts.

I asked him to give me his overall assessment of the numbers and in very simple to understand layman’s terms for your humble correspondent,

His response was:

“Oh dear, where to start?”

He considered the size of “other operating expenses” to be “outrageous”.

Moreover, he pointed out that it was just as well that RIFC was not listed on the Stock Exchange.

Of course, that is just another Dave King broken promise that the Stenography Corps are obediently quiet about.

So much of the Ibrox shitshow over the last 30 years comes back to the fact that there has been almost zero journalistic scrutiny from the local media.

As their titles circle the circulation drain it doesn’t look like the Fitba Fourth Estate can mend their ways.

  2. If you’re of the opinion that GMcA would NOT leave with SG should he go, does it follow that you believe he would take over the reins? There has been speculation since pretty much the start of SG’s reign that HE – GMcA – was actually the brains of the outfit anyway.

Should SG go, say in December or January, to a club in need of a striker would he make a move for More-or-Less? In such a scenario it would be interesting to see his opening bid, given how highly he claims to rate him.

SG aside, it would also be interesting to see just how desperate they might get if, towards the end of the window, they have struggled badly to move people on.

I’m not overly concerned about the destination of the title. I really believe that over the course of the season we’ll simply be too good for them. However I think the two December fixtures against them could determine how arduous the remainder of the season could be. I don’t think defeat in the LC final would have a significant effect on the morale of Celtic. I believe it would on Sevco, and if that was followed by a second defeat at Parkhead, the combined effect could be psychologically devastating to them. It would be as though every stride forward they thought they had made in the first half of the season had only taken them round in a big loop back to the start.

    • Micheal Beale is running the team, and he Culshaw, are heavy on the tactics. a bit like JK and DD for us. The Gary Mac conundrum, has a lot of non football related issues and The Ego’s brand team would happily patch him on the next venture. Gerrard seems himself as the “manager” the “motivator:”

  3. The upside of having Gerrard as manager is that he raises the profile of the club south of the border.
The Scottish game is getting a mention in certain quarters where pre Stevie G it would not have been.
Him a former Liverpool and England captain he has respect in the English press.
However if it all goes tits up because some of his prized assets are sold, despite the alleged guarantees given to Gerrard, then no doubt he will be quick to voice his reasons for walking away.
The obedient Scottish media will fall into line and print whatever they are told to do. However the national press will be given it big licks and unless Gerrard signs a non disclosure deal he will spill the beans and tell it like it is.
It’s not going to end well, the stars are aligned, and 2 defeats in the upcoming Glasgow derbies will be too much for Gerrard, the board, the Scottish media and the Rangers fans to swallow.

  4. Well that’s the money issues sorted and dealt with at sevco . Apparently Morelos is on his way to Man Utd or Aston Villa as they are both in a bidding war for him with bids starting off at 50 million quid with add ons. That’s the rumour on sites from the mad BENNY’S themselves . Apparently he is on target for 50 goals this season so they reckon it’s a million quid a goal . They funny fags are good what a smoke you get off them.

  5. Off topic but wee Coco at IN is being laughed at by the BENNY’S themselves because of the odds betting for the league this season. We Coco is bragging and boasting about sevco title odds tumbling down towards even money. They are 15/8 at the moment that’s almost touching 2/1 and he thinks their odds are heading towards evens and catching up with Celtic odds of 4/11 . Ah wee Coco it’s a bad day for him when even his own BENNY fans are laughing at him as he has put it out there all it will take is 1000 BENNY’S to go into local bookies and put their cash on rangers for the title and get them down to even money . With ideas like that I’m sure he is one of the contributors to club 1872 .

  6. Off topic ..but…
A certain greetin’ faced Blogger on his Pay Per. View site…has once again found it necessary to insult and cast aspersions on Phil….and others.
I will, however, leave those in the firing line to respond for themselves…if they wish.
    What I will say…is this.
This Blogger claims that he doesn’t visit this site very often… but we all know he does…( Nudge nudge…wink wink.)
Anyway what I want to tell him is…
    A) Not everyone on this Site is Irish or has Irish background….I, for one, don’t. So to suggest otherwise is fake news.
    B) The Green Brigade IS criticised on this site…quite openly and regularly.
    C) Given that Phil has been blogging for years more than our greetin’ faced friend….where did Phil get his information from before Mr. One and Only turned up..?
    D) Finally…This site is FREE.
    Hope he gets the message.

    • For me, personally, this site is not free. It is cheap in terms of finance but not free because I have chosen to make donations. I have also made donations to the other site you refer to because I see value in both, but I do wish the other site would desist from making references to this outstanding site.

In fairnesss to Phil, he doesn’t resort to comparisons on any scale and just does his own thing and long may that continue.

      • Hi…I worded it “badly “.
I do know that Phil invites subscriptions …but the point I was making was ….It’s not obligatory and he doesn’t make an issue of it if you don’t subscribe.
Mr. One and Only has a habit of insulting people left right and centre…particularly those who don’t subscribe.
A lot of the good stuff he does…is undermined by his caustic comments.
        Hope that clears it up.
        Hail hail.

  7. Didn’t know that Klopp was leaving… 🙂

Gerrard is in a win/win position.
He can choose to ‘do walking away’ – or do a runner – whenever he receives a suitable offer from an English club.

In his absence, the compliant SMSM will bad mouth him and blame all the Ibrox woes – including any/all financial woes – on Gerrard.

But, in England he will get a much more positive press. He might not be reported as the Messiah, but he’ll get talked up for ‘saving’ a desperately poor – in every sense – ‘Rangers’ football club.

TRFC will have served its purpose to Gerrard: just like CFC did for Rodgers.
The difference for the Ibrox club is: who takes over from Gerrard?
Gerrard does have the player status to attract loanees and Bosmans.

And, TRFC is significantly more impoverished NOW compared to when King snared Gerrard for TRFC.

    Who can they afford?
Will Murty be requested to perform pitchside handstands again…?

And the funny thing is: this increasing speculation about Gerrard is on top of the eternal speculation about Morelos’ supposed, imminent departure – which will be a very messy affair IF it actually happens.

    Interesting times ahead…

  8. Gerrard’s PR bandwagon, will be in full swing, especially if there is a cup final defeat. I think the PR firefight from not having the “tools” or being “told” he will lose them ahead of January, will start I the wake of that or a European exit.

He will be bemoaning of VAR- Referring decisions or lack off to play ball, then will be front and centre. Termeeeeeenado indeed.
Save a regulation destined team, revitalised Scottish football and the NewCo, – knock knock Liverpool…..

KingCo has his scapegoat, – he left us I the lurch, Ala Brendo, the board need to be more loyal and then serious downsizing begins because we gave Mr Ego, all the tools and seriously compromised the club blah blah blah, you can see the Level 5. wipe board map. Steven Cost us TIAR

Aston Villa, Norwich, West Ham, Southampton, Palace, or a Leeds, West Brom, or Title chasing Preston. should they lose any of their managers depart for pastures new or otherwise, Then they. will all be considered.

The overhyped EPL, – has 10 points separating 5th and 20th – Arsenal is the only real high profile one that have yet to take a punt, like a Solskjaer, Lampard, or a young cupless Poch……but they are more likely to go for Arteta, Vieira from within their own DNA etc. one thing is for sure, the compensation due, will be paid in instalments if it is them, KT and Suarez can attest to that.

If Mr Let’s Go, smells Admin 2 in the air, and has been told, more Sadiq’s rather than duffalos on the way, then he’ll cut and run. Don’t forget, this is a guy who by his own commission took an 11th hour family and friend sit down to stop him going to Jose’s Chelsea and that is his beloved Liverpool. Rangers as he has stated in previous, interviews, ” is the job. Liverpool is love”.

The masterstroke, is about to encounter some of it’s own Level 5 Pr fire fight and it’ll becoming from the zip muncher himself. because Mr Ego, can not leave without his rep, fully intact. After all, Slips and Timing are everything.

Roll on December….. Winter is Coming
