Show Racism the Red Card at Ibrox

When I was sent this today I initially thought it was a clever spoof.

It is hard to tell these days.

However, I checked and apparently it is genuine.

The idea that that there would be an anti-racist workshop at Ibrox is itself a fragment of a lost Monty Python script.

However, that it would take place the day AFTER the Sevco High command appeared to question the validity of UEFA’s definition of racism is utterly breath-taking.

As regular readers will know the preferred anthem of the Ibrox klanbase venerates the memory of Billy Fullerton.

He was the eponymous leader of a fascist street gang in Glasgow during the inter-war years.

A self-identifying fascist he was also a member of the Ku Klux Klan.

Of course, it was the multi-generational Irish community in Glasgow who was the target of his racism and not people of colour.

Skin pigmentation is one only way for a person to be othered.

UEFA’s definition of racism, based on best practise, recognises that the racist can focus on a person’s ethnicity, nationality and national origin.

Anti-Irish racism has a long history at Ibrox and it has survived the death of Rangers and is deeply embedded within the Sevco support.

Now, that is something that the folks at Show Racism the Red Card might want to look at the next time they are in the stadium that John Brown played for.

  1. I was listening to the game against Porto last night on the radio. The Famine Song could be heard clearly on the radio. They are hoping UEFA don’t know that one. Maybe someone should draw it to their attention.

  2. This organisation is a charade, they view racism as a skin colour issue, not as what it actually encompasses, which is a vast range of matters of Colour, creed, heritage and culture etc. I know how it would be made to look and spun out of all control but I wish Celtic would show these people the door instead of giving them free publicity every so often.

  3. Perhaps the most effective method to rid Scottish football of most of its negativity…

is to ‘Show The Rangers The Red Card’?

With shocking financials due shortly, and combined with an assortment of off field threats…
the PERMANENT demise of any Ibrox club should significantly clean up Scottish football – virtually overnight.

They dodged a red card in 2012, but for persistent fouling of the Scottish game since then – the current Ibrox club is well overdue a straight red! 🙂

  4. is it not true thet the founder of SRTRC is an ex “Rangers” supporter. hence the reason why he comments on issues with the celtic fans, but chooses to ignore the goings on with the Klan at ibrox. he is one of them and he doesnt think there is anything wrong with there song book. thankfully UEFA have commented and punnished them, shame the scottish authorities wont do the same.

  5. Not for the first either that Show Racism the Red Card has totally embarrassed themselves and it won’t be the last. They are forever hanging around the Klan base of fans and hanging onto every word they as gospel . No wonder nobody takes this so called organisation seriously they bow down to the Klan at every opportunity with fear.

  6. Thinking a big more about this….

They’ve definitely gone to the right place for a seminar…. but wouldn’t they be better holding it outdoors at the next home league game.

Only way you’ll fit the 50,000 ‘delegates’ in!

  7. I still don’t believe that is real!

Is the (Anfield rip-off) ‘This is Ibrox’ wall art a hastily contrived solution to cover up the ‘We Are The People’ mantra that usually adorns that particular location?

I suppose THAT might prompt some probing questions from enquiring delegates.
