I see no strips

Yesterday was rather interesting for several reasons.

Firstly, because it finally dawned on some within Sevco’s credulous clientele that General Ashley holds all of the cards in the retails dispute.

Now, if only a named journalist, not some anonymous blogger, had been warning about this.

Imagine if an NUJ member had been writing consistently about the forensic details of the retail deal that the Sevco High Command had freely entered into back in June 2017.

Yeah, imagine…

Of course, in message board land, there were a few consultant neurosurgeons who shared their cunning plans for a suitable response to Big Mike.

Criminal damage seemed to be a common denominator among the dignified suggestions as to what to do about this latest setback.

This should not come as a surprise given the scenes outside Ibrox that preceded the Off Licence Putsch in 2015.

I am told that the term “Injunctive Relief” will assume major significance for Sevco watchers in the coming period.

The only thing to be decided now in court is how much Sevco owes to Big Mike.

Moreover, I would not be at all surprised if Elite and Hummel are getting lawyered up and looking to sue for damages.

For the avoidance of doubt, they will not be litigating against Sports Direct.

Where does that leave Sevco’s finances?

Well, the canary down the mine now will be what price they allow players to leave for.

The £300k for Daniel Candeias is an indication of their desperate financial situation, as they had valued him at £800k.

However, when the Turkish side offered a much lower sum upfront, they grabbed it.

Sevco has to pretend that they are the original Rangers and that they are not in financial trouble.

Sadly, the facts say otherwise.

Of course, not everyone is concerned with such pesky things.

For example, the heroic chaps in the Stenography Corps tend to avoid them when it comes to Ibrox.

It gives them a quieter life at Sevco pressers for one thing.

They are in the business of shoring up a make-believe world where Rangers did not die in 2012 and that everything is great at Ibrox.

In some ways, the consumers of their dignified content remind me of the Brexiteer demographic.

Those Brits who luxuriate in another, much more dangerous delusion.

Namely, the sturdy belief that their little island off the coast of continental Europe is still the centre of a global imperium.

My observations yesterday on Britain’s maritime weakness did not take long at all to play out!

The United States told the Brits that they were on their own in the Persian Gulf apropos the guarding of merchant ships flying the red ensign.

It turns out that the Royal Navy has ONE frigate (HMS Montrose) and four mines sweepers in the region.

This inconvenient truth forced Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt to reach out to the European Union.

Yeah, you read that correctly.

The no-deal Brexit tough guys have realised that in a dangerous world they need the help of their nearest neighbours.

So the rhetoric of “Empire 2.0” suddenly has all the substance of a Dave King Presser.

Truly the Brits have become the Sevco of Europe, a pitiful grandstanding laughing stock.

If you don’t believe me, then have a look at their new leader.

I have already explored the similarities between the Rt Hon Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson MP and Mr David Cunningham King, and you can read that here.

I feel that the universe is sending a memo to the Brexiteer Brits and the Sevco klanbase.

Essentially it is this:

The facts don’t care about your Herrenvolk delusions so deal with it!

Have a great day.

  1. Excuse me, stop peddling that old pish “the EU is not democratic” every member of the European Parliament is democratically elected. The Commisioners are nominated by democratically elected governments and ratified by the elected European Parliament.Same too with the executive.
Excellent article Phil. The European Union was the best thing that could have happened to Ireland. It released us from the yoke of England, and the same thing will happen to proud Scotland when she “takes her place among the nation of the Earth,”

  2. Neoliberalism is the true enemy of the people of Europe.
Sooner or later those who wish to continue praying at its alter of greed and self preservation will wake up and realise that once every major asset has been punted to the Multi Nationals bidding for them then they will be left with nothing of any value but the land on which they stand.
Even that is being bought up by those very same people who control the multi Nationals and Banks.
Thankfully the MAJORITY in the UK have seen sense to reject it and stop it.

  3. Hunt looking to Europe for naval assistance is only the tip of the iceberg.
Wait till there are a queue of lorries stretching from Dover to Carlisle before the Brexiteers realise the error of their ways.
If anyone thinks Trump is going to throw the UK a lifeline with a trade deal that beats the current EU deal then they are living in cloud cuckoo land.
America first, make America great again, are the Brexiteers not listening?
Now we have the clown that is Boris calling the shots with a wafer thin majority in the House Of Commons.
May’s cabinet will be sacked en masse, those that already haven’t resigned that is, and be replaced with hard Brexiteers who despite every economic forecast will take the UK out without a deal whereon chaos will ingulf the land.
Before this happens of course the movers and shakers will have moved their money out of the country and before you know it the Euro exchange rate will have slumped and UK tourists abroad will be crying in their beer.
Boris and his mates, for sure, will not be impacted by this course of events, they never are.
I give him 6 months max before he’s either thrown out of office by his own party or a vote of no confidence in the house will see his demise.
A general election looks certain before Xmas. Unfortunately the main opposition party has completely lost their way and no one knows what they stand for, otherwise the result would be a shoo in.
Remember when Boris was barking on about Gordon Brown taking over from Blair, with only Labour party members involved in the voting process?
He thought then that it wasn’t democratic that such a small % of the population could choose our then next PM…..and what happened today?
He’s been sacked from several jobs, including a disastrous reign as foreign secretary because he was useless.
His private life is a shambles and this is the best the Tories can do?

  4. As much as i share your views on brexit phil it has to be noted that parkhead is has more than its fair share of independence no voters who still cling to a union jack. talk about hypocrisy, they sing about irish freedom and unification yet vote for the butchers apron to run their own country. most are secretly embarrassed and choose to keep quiet on the subject yet would still vote no.you will probably find half the crowd at a scotland game are no voters and have the gall to wear a scotland strip. Shameless traitors if you ask me, and i know many a rangers supporter and orangemen who voted yes and will again for scottish independence. if celtic park was so full of indy voters you would have saw the signs and banners which were not there at all during indy vote.

  5. Phil I enjoy your football articles and the light of truth that you shine on the machinations of Sevco and their dealings with big mike. However I do not think that you bring the same honesty and logic to your views on brexit. I also do not think that you can polarise the Celtic/Sevco support with in/out and it is unfortunate that you do so. There are many proud Scots who voted leave and who voted both yes and no with Indy1 yet you view this large section of the Scottish population with almost contempt. Why? I want my children to grow up and live in a democracy – what’s so wrong with that. The EU is not a democracy and never was – and if your country which I hold dear wants to exchange its ability to make it own laws/rules and be truly accountable to its people for a bucket full of €’s then so be it but just let us get on with our decision.

  6. As the old taps are raked from the midden maybe the klan should look askance at the glib and shameless one and ask him why he’s meant to be a ahem successful business man. He is the one who reputedly has the wherewithal to dig them out of this latest mess but just like he let the old Rangers die, he’s going to stand back and watch it happen to this version too. Long Live the King. HH

  7. Have any Scottish journalists phoned Ibrox and asked them how much they expect this to cost them? For publication I mean, not weeping down the line.

  8. Mike Ashley must love Dave King. At a time when he was making very little money out of the retail deal owing to the fan boycott of merchandise, along comes King to renegotiate the deal. King pays Ashley £3M for the privilege. The bears then empty Ashley’s shelves, kerrching! Club 1872 pay over the odds for Ashley’s shares in the club, kerrching!
King then consults Baldrick to come up with a cunning which turns out to be as successful as all of Baldrick’s other cunning plans. The end result is that Ashley is to be paid substantial damages which are likely to run into many millions of pounds. King promptly appeals this in the hope that the tooth fairy will cast a spell to make big Mike go away.
