The Sevco High Command surveys the ruins

In the aftermath of the court ruling yesterday, the Sevco High Command went into a  dignfied conclave.

As of lunchtime today the Churchillian discussions were still ongoing.

I get the feeling that someone will have to take a fall for this at Sevco.

My information is that the Conveyancing Consigliere had some very difficult questions to answer.

Perhaps when he look s in the mirror he sees Tom Hagen, but the rest us are looking at poor Fredo.

Perhaps a Hail Mary in order…

I do hope that no one is made a scapegoat in the Blue Room for this expensive own goal.

Oh dear, did I mention a goat?

For example, the Serious Professional had no hand act or part in coming up with the Elite/Hummel deal.

However, Sevco’s legal genius is Dave’s man here on earth, so that may insulate him from the fallout.

One of the deflection moves on social media last night was that there was a damages cap set at £1m.

Therefore, no biggie.

Well, I was told today that this NOT the view of General Ashley’s QCs.

Moreover, they believe that their view is shared by the judge.

Which, of course, is the most important opinion.

At the Quintessentially British sit down a Stateside  Brother asked what was the total exposure to this shambles.

The Serious Professional, after a moment of quiet reflection, told him that it was currently an unknown.

Not good…

What now hoves into view for the Sevco High Command is multiple litigations all emerging from Dave’s cunning plan with Elite Sports last year.

All General Ashley has done since has been to sit back and allow Sevco to financially self-harm.

Mr King has been outthought and outfought by Big Mike on this.

Of course, the Stenography  Corps has been soothing the Ibrox klan base that everything would turn out rosy.

Now, as this shambles unfolds who will Dave blame?

Everyone, anyone.

  1. what a lot of shite you write and all the tims believe you
1/ rangers (not sevco) have monies set aside for this
2/once the fat man is paid that is the deal done and dusted
3/ I bet you anything you want that rangers wont need to pay the fat man as much as celtic will need to pay all the victims of child abuse
4/you hate rangers with a passion hence the shite you write
5/ 55 is coming home this season
6/oh and before you start anymore sevco pish go and dig deep regarding pacific shelf
7/you are a very sad individual who hates all things rangers and you will write any shite so that the celtic fans think you are fantastic and you keep getting paid
8/ yourself and Sutton and hartson are all needing to jump in front of a bus
9/you are a total dick and that is the only 9 in a row you will be getting

      1) sevco have no money to put aside

      2) that nice Mr Ashley won’t be finished with Sevco even after he has been paid as he still has a contract.

3)Will Celtic also have to pay on behalf of those abused in Ipox too?

4)Phil is a decent journalist and very fine writer. May I recommend his book Downfall to you as I think you’ll enjoy it.

5)As your club was liquidated, you are still going for 1 but it’s Celtic’s title just like the previous 8

      6) I think you’ll find that Celtic F.C. didn’t have to face the embarrassment of a liquidation event.

      7) Very repetitive, see answer 4. And I believe that Phil is really quite jolly!

8)Even if Phil, BBJ and Sutty did jump in front of a bus there are many more saying the same things.

9)I’m sure you know much more about dicks than I do but I know that 9iar will be ours- again.

    • Let’s take your “Going For 55” at face value… this implies that you are, indeed, the “same club”. Taking this as a factual statement, this means that, under current UEFA regulations, your 55th title will be jeopardised due to the fact that you have “overdue payables”, in the form of monies owed to SDIR. Judge Persey QC has ruled that they are owed money. “Rangers” can, of course, appeal this ruling, but can they really afford the ongoing costs of litigation?

You, your fellow fans, your board, the SMSM, have all painted themselves into a corner – if you are (as you claim) the same club, then expect a 25-point deduction to be meted out. If you now decide that you are a new club, then you face only a 10-point deduction. Of course, by deciding that you are indeed a new club, then you are not entitled to claim the history of the old (deceased) club. Consequently, deducting the titles and trophies of the old club should have no effect upon the new club – only that of the old club, which were “won” with “imperfectly-registered players”. Furthermore, you will not be entitled to play as “Rangers”, as that was the name of the now-defunct club. You will also not be entitled to wear the 5 stars on the jersey, or even play in a kit emblazoned with the club crest of Rangers FC, as this was the intellectual property of the defunct club.

However, your intense pain has been duly noted – and laughed at. Thank you for sharing your pain with us. It appears that Leigh Griffiths was right – if you suffer from depression, you should share your thoughts. I’m only sorry that I am not a medical professional who can offer you some help. All I can do for you is to laugh embarrassingly at your obvious pain.

One last note – keep your diary free on the 15th August 2019. At approximately 08:29 AM ET, there will be a Full Sturgeon Moon. Please feel free to howl at it, along with your fellow supporters!!

    • I think this chap has been upset Phil. I love this narrative that
      1. the board knew all along they would lose and planned it thus, as a means of riddding themselves of Ashley, who they said had already been paid off.
      2. It was the old board who signed the deal.

It’s a bit like arguing Hitler wanted WW2 because he knew he ‘d lose the t and would then be able to shoot his dog and commit suicide. I despair of some peepul.

  2. And still the media is peddling guff. According to reports 91% of bets with Ladbrokes on the outcome of the SPFL title winners this season are being placed on Rangers.
Now in any other betting sphere you could be certain that the recipient of such massive support in a 2 horse race would be long odds on.
That’s not the case here as Celtic remain 2/5 to lift the trophy.
That indicates that the 91% doesn’t actually reflect a great deal of money being wagered.
But hey the Scottish media like to keep their articles short and simple to satisfy their target audience.
I still think that the funniest read this summer was the reporting of Steve Davis as Antrim’s answer to Andrea Pirlo.

  3. I visited Rangers Rumours and its offshoots this morning. Current thinking among several bears is that King has played the long game brilliantly. Apparently the plan all along was to have Ashley continually sue them, successfully. This apparently would lead to the present scenario where they may have to pay him millions in compensation so they can be rid of him. This shows, they say that DK is the smarter businessman.
Honestly, you couldn’t make this up. They do actually believe every defeat has been a step closer to victory. It seems too that if they let Newcastle buy Tavernier then Ashley will walk away from this judgement

  4. It’s indicative of the job done by the Scottish media in helping to dumb down the Rangers fans with their continual bigging up of all things blue and constant good news being fed to them that many of the fanbase are of the opinion that they should just pay off Ashley, however much the bill, and move on to a new supplier. Easy, peasie, lemon squeezy.
Robertson, called out in court as a liar by the judge, was quick to allay the fears of the fanbase with a soothing assurement to the masses that money was available if Stevie G wanted to bring in more recruits.
Of course with ST monies at their peak there will be cash in the bank but thats to see them through to next May/June and pay off the Close Bros loan into the bargain.
A loan which the media seem determined to ignore and just sweep under the carpet.
Clubs interested in Morelos or Tavernier, especially those in the EFL, will be well aware of the financial situation at Ibrox and no one will be offering silly money for either and will run the clock down till the window closes before playing their hand.
Kingco’s management, or lack of, has been fully exposed to the fan base, someone will have to fall on their sword.
Robertson and Blair are being set up to take the blame, rightly or wrongly.
It can’t be good for business at Anderson Strathern to see their former partner, and now a consultant I believe, to be at the centre of the maelstrom.

  5. But the judge said that the £1m cap is overruled…? And the damages were to run into many millions of punds? Tell me I’m not dreaming!

  6. I read the judgement from a link you provided Phil. Whilst not up to speed with the case histories quoted by the learned gentleman I did get the gist of his argument. I believe he said that £1 million was not adequate recompense for the harm Mr Ashley’s company had suffered. Rangers said they would invoke a clause limiting damages to said sum but the judge appeared to dismiss that argument.
Oh dear. I feel that once more Mr King and his representatives on earth are being a tad ‘Economical with the actualite’ as was once said.

  8. I see the serious professional was branded by the judge as no more than a mouthpiece. I think that could condemn him to be the first domino in the line.

  9. Are we entering territory that the SFA would rather we didn’t visit again?
Failure to sell Morelos and Tavernier for enough money to pay off Sports Direct and Close Bros will bring the Ibrox club to the brink.
If admin follows will the requisite points deduction be applied as Oldco and not Newco or, as is their wont, will the SFA move the goalposts to protect the Ibrox franchise?
It looks as if there will be no contribution from merchandising for this season at least.
That makes the Europa game against the Danes a truly must win otherwise the 3.3m monthly outlays, plus whatever the newcomers add to the monthly bill, will quickly gobble up what’s left of the ST revenue.
Whose in charge of the Ibrox calculator?
Heads will roll for the latest clusterfuck, but more liable to be Blair and/ or Robertson rather than Kingco.

    • Just wondering myself how this whole situation sits with the “Fit and Proper Person” requirement from the SFA ?????? surely this exposes the Glib… or will we get the “Nothing to see here ….move on” Hmmm

  10. Don’t know the timescales involved here, but…

IIRC, the year-end for RIFC/TRFC is 30th June.

So, I would presume that someone at Ibrox will be obligated to put a £ number in the accounts, as a Post Balance Sheet event or a Contingent Liability?

Or, there could be an ‘unavoidable’ delay in publishing the accounts – or even a change / delay to the year-end for 2018/19 financial year.
