A Treble Treble doesn’t measure up to the Close Season Cup

It is only one calendar month since Celtic lifted the Scottish Cup at a rain-soaked Hampden.

The decisive player in the toughly contested affair was a striker who cost the Hoops £9m.

I am sure that Craig Levein would agree with me that Celtic did not enjoy any sporting advantage from being able to afford the services of  Odsonne Édouard.

Of course, the historic Treble Treble is now a dim memory as Sevco are on course to once more lift the Close Season Cup.

The back pages are full of intrepid reporting that reveals how Mr Let’s Go is putting a squad together that will wrest the title away from the richest club in Scotland.

In a parallel universe, the coverage would be very different.

The sports desks there would be looking at the fact that for the first time since the club was set up in 2012 it has significant external debt and potentially a bill that it cannot pay.

You see dear reader somewhere in the Fitba multiverse there are Scottish journalists who are not pretending that liquidation did not happen.

In that dimension, this front page in the Herald from June 2012 would not have been disowned.

Indeed, it would have been the start of evidence-based coverage of the club that Charles of Normandy formed from the body parts of Rangers.

The main narrative at the moment should be that Sevco had been forced to borrow £3m from Close Brothers in 2018 and then had returned to the same lender for a loan of over £7m this year.

Therefore, the hole is getting bigger and that is just to keep going.

I can tell you that in this dimension Close Brothers are watching the Ashley retail court case very very closely indeed.

Yesterday, my Shirebrook source has steered me to the conclusion that Big Mike will not make another legal move until the RIFC accounts are published later this year.

He will then have information on the retail revenue that the Sevco High Command cannot deny.

Apparently, General Ashley believes he has manoeuvred the basket of assets into a trap largely of their own making.

If they low ball their merchandise revenue in the accounts then the hole looks bigger than it really is.

However, if they come clean about what they have brought in from the car boot sale then he has the exact figure to go after.

With all of that in mind I kind of feel for the Serious Professional who has apparently been a bit tetchy of late.

For it is he and the Conveyancing Consigliere who are in the frame for this retail shambles.

I’m told that the signature of Mr David Cunningham King will not be found on any of the disputed contracts.

For the avoidance of doubt, it is never Dave’s fault.

Something that I find highly impressive, in a glib and shameless way…

  2. I see that munter media has a thread about their current transfer budget.
There is a good debate going on about the merits of spending the money on wages v spending it on transfer fees. It doesn’t seem to have crossed their minds that there might not be any money to spend on transfer fees.
Even when the evidence is right in front of their eyes, they just cannot see the reality of the situation.
What’s that saying about, none so blind as those who will not see?

  3. Is Mr King being arrogant or just reverting to type and telling bare faced lies when he talks about the ibrox side being “Scotland’s Premier Club”?

  4. Why would Ashley wait until the “always late” accounts are published? By then any season ticket money is spent.

        • If the money is spent then we have to remember that MA is a billionaire, so that leaves the possibility that he’s going all in cut throats leave em bleeding in the gutter.

He could quite possibly pick up a club here, sell Newcastle and do something they could never dream about and get to CL with rankers.

He could also do a whole wind up skit, take ultimate revenge.

Billionaires don’t become billionaires cos they’re daft.

          He’ll have a cunning plan.

I might even start praying again,as I’ve just been conversing with someone claiming to be Jesus.
IF there is a second coming, let’s hope it ISNAE sevco‼️

I wonder if Jesus does requests?🤔

SaMASH and the dirt is GONE🔥💥👍🏽

  5. I see my DK has just released another statement full of Deludamol

Liam Bryce gleefully reports on his glibness saying rankers are Scotland’s premier club.

    You can’t make it up

  6. Not a single mention in the media of multi million pound deals for Morelos and Tavernier.
That just doesn’t fit the scenario of a few weeks ago when both were being touted for mega bucks moves.
In the real world perhaps EPL clubs are looking for a full back that can primarily defend and a striker who spends much of the season spectating as he sits out his latest suspension?

  7. The decisive player in the toughly contested affair was a striker who dived, a cheat who should have been booked, if not sent off. FIFY

      • Keeper never touched him he went down that’s a dive. Old Henrick was the master, dived better than Hans and Lotte Hass.
Celtic fans think their players have halo’s, but they get away with far more than any other team in the league. ( go on any other club fan’s message board, it will open your green specs covered eyes ) As for pain, Ha! not a chance. Never expected to win with Scottish officials in charge so no surprise

        • Are you referring to the Scottish officials that enjoy a post-match pint in “rangers” pubs, or the “kafflick” ones? My mother (God rest her soul) brought us up to believe that we should not laugh at those less-fortunate than ourselves, but..
