In the aftermath of Celtic’s victory, yesterday much was made of the fact that Sevco were a man down for much of the match.
However, it is worth noting that Celtic scored both of their goals when it was 11 v 11 and 10 v 10.
Consequently, the decisive strike was from the right boot of James Forrest and not the left arm of Alfredo Morelos.
Moreover, the goals for the champions were initially set up by a brace of brilliantly incisive passes from two academy graduates.
The first time pass from Forrest to release Odsonne Édouard had laser beam precision.
Similarly, Calum McGregor pounced on a stray pass as Sevco’s captain James Tavernier had a siesta.
CalMac’s first touch was the pass that released the young Frenchman, but this time Odsonne returned the compliment to James Forrest.
In a postmatch interview, Mr Let’s Go bleated that two defensive errors had cost Sevco the match.
Of course, this is the frequent lament of managers who come up against superior opposition.
However, a case can be made from the Gerrard side of the argument that he HAS improved Sevco in the head to head encounters with the biggest club in Scotland.
Unlike the Admirable Warburton and Poor Pedro Mr Let’s Go has managed a league victory over the champions.
Therefore, the case can be made that he has made the Ibrox side a more formidable proposition.
He will certainly be pressing that claim with the Sevco High Command now that their season is effectively over.
Quite simply, he will want substantial funds for the summer transfer window.
As ever the problem will come down to money.
Sevco don’t have enough of it.
As I have recently reported here Mr Let’s Go may have…ahem…misunderstood the verbal assurances given to him recently by the Impecunious Chairman south of the Limpopo.
Apparently, Sevco’s resident MBE thought he was told that he had £10m to spend in the summer.
Sadly, that unwritten memo does not seem to have arrived on the desk of the Serious Professional.
Therefore, the recent recruitment meeting did not go well for Mr Let’s Go MBE.
His marquee signing for the summer, in his head, was to be Ryan Kent.
However, the Director of Fantasy was thinking of getting the winger on another season long loan from Liverpool.
The Anfield club only wanted to discuss a transfer for a fee that is beyond the means of Sevco as things currently stand.
They have borrowed heavily from Close Brothers to keep the lights on
As I had previously stated, all of this comes down to finance, or rather the lack of it.
Celtic have not had the best season by the high standards of the champions.
However, they already have the league cup won, they’re in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup and the league is effectively won on the last day of March.
Because of the euphoria created by the victory at Ibrox on the 29th December 2018 the Sevco High Command were convinced to throw the entire fitted kitchen at stopping 8IAR.
That is the only explanation for bringing in Davis and Defoe on ruinous wages.
Of course dear reader you will note that their main contribution so far has to increase the weekly outgoings at Sevco.
In the aftermath of the Celtic victory, the mood among some of the klan was decidedly ugly.
A hat tip to Hannah Rodger of the Herald for this exclusive.
Ms Nicola Gilchrist, who is also the chair of Scottish Women’s Aid, can now be added to the list of “friends won on the journey”.
There are good brave journalists in Scotland.
However, they tend not to be on sports desks.
One of the main exceptions to that evidence based generalisation is Graham Spiers.
Back in the day when Rangers were alive, he was one of the first within the mainstream to point out the crippling debts that David Murray was piling up.
He was also consistently determined in calling out the klan for their fascist repertoire.
Therefore, I thought his social media output yesterday was not worthy of him.

Scott Brown was elbowed and punched by two Sevco players and one of them (Ryan Kent) escaped the consequences of his actions during the match.

However, like his manager from Ireland, it would appear that victim blaming is the order of the day when the blows land on Scott Brown.
Despite that, Spiers remains the best of the bunch by quite a distance.
Moreover, I do not think it is a coincidence that he has more than a passing association with higher education at an elite university.
That makes him atypical of the chaps on the sports desks and I think that it does matter.
If there were more like him then I probably wouldn’t need to do this stuff.
These words blink to life on the west coast of Ireland.
It is, as my Mayo granny used to say “a soft day” here in Dún na nGall.
There should not be a need for this Samizdat on Scottish football and I really have to dive back into a manuscript for the sequel to The Squad.
However, while the Stenography Corps remain in the fiction business ,e.g. that Sevco is actually the original Rangers etc, then I cannot retire just yet.
Have a great week!

Broony is the definition of a “capo di tutti capi.” He IS the leader of all leaders.
Clearly Mr Spiers hasn’t attended many Junior League matches, especially down Ayrshire way, or he would have heard a lot more goading e.t.c. on the pitches there. HH
Eddie or Alfredo? What would the watching scouts be reporting back to their paymasters after yesterdays events?
The wheels have well and truly came off the Morelos caravan with the Ibrox fans now also on his back and wanting him gone.
Goodness knows how his dream of a move to the EPL next season will turn out as he spends the next 4 games watching from the stands.
5 reds and 17 yellows will be a huge negative to prospective suitors and that doesn’t even tell the full story as he’s dodged a number of cards in other games.
In no meaningful order the list of the hated grows ever longer.
Celtic
Aberdeen
Hibs
SFA
SPFL
SNP
BBC
Biased media in general
Glasgow District Council
Ireland and all things Ireland
Catholics
Thats a lot of hating to be going on with. Basically anyone who doesn’t subscribe to an ideology and culture much of which has grown from the 1690 victory of an army financed by the Vatican.
It wasn’t so very long ago that a former rangers and sevco player was heard to comment “that’s Broony being Broony.”
That man was Kenny Miller, and if memory serves me correctly, he uttered those words less than 2 years ago.
The truth of the matter is not that the sevco players are ill-disciplined.. they have absolutely no discipline – and even less class!
Love their pain. Pure and simple no class whatsoever about them HH
Beautiful Monday 🍀🇮🇪
The Sevconians goaded Broony after their win at Ibrox in December, it true captain like spirit, he took it on the chin and after acknowledging the fans walked calmly off the park. Of course the events were tucked away in his memory bank. Fast forward to 31/03/19 and it was payback time, and Bhoy o’ bhoy did we find out that the Sevconians can dish it out but they certainly can’t take it. The hate and venom in their contorted faces was a joy to behold!!
Despite the press going on about Broony antagonizing their fans, no one has noted he never left the field of play, yet when Kent scored, he was of the field of play and the quiet signal to the Celtic fans in the main stand, no booking and never happened if you believe the media!!
Hi, hi, hi beautiful Sunday!!!!
