Regular readers may recall that I warned of an infestation of squirrels when the Double Treble season was concluded.
Since then that has seemed to be rather on the money.
The McLennan SPFL squirrel has been particularly successful.
This is remarkable given when it is compared to the years of silence from the SMSM on President Conflicted and Gordon Smith.
Consequently, there must now be a full Stenography Warning in place until further notice.
Of course, the first stop for any serious journalist would be to find out why Dave King was communicating with the SPFL via public statements and not by private letter.
Was this a genuine concern apropos good governance at the SPFL or a PR exercise to keep the customer base onside?
It is a given that everything is wonderful on Planet Stenography about the Gerrard appointment.
All amazing stuff until football matches have to be played…
The last two permanent appointments made by Sevco have, in part, been about non-footballing reasons.
It was hoped that the Admirable Warburton would open doors in the Square Mile.
The three-man panel who interviewed Senhor Pedro Miguel Faria Caixinha believed that the manager of Al-Gharafa could open the door to Qatari investment.
It is worth noting that both of these fine fellows were vastly more experienced in football management than young Master Gerrard.
However, the ex-England captain IS a worldwide brand.
His capture, as I have previously stated here, is a stunning PR coup for Mr King.
The season ticket concerns of the Sevco High Command in the immediate aftermath of the 4-0 semi-final defeat were gone in a flash.
Now, the McLennan squirrel is a welcome addition to the paranoia menu at Ibrox.
Any serious journalist in Glasgow should be questioning the sanity of turning the Sevco job into a work experience placement.
However, if they pushed that line of inquiry then they would soon find out that they were not welcome in Sevco pressers.
A gripe of mine is that it really shouldn’t require a journalist in another country to be fulfilling this Fourth Estate function for Scottish football.
I have made a good start in the manuscript of my next novel and the first draft should be completed by September/October.
Madam Editor in West Cork will be waiting on it.
I write to obey…
The more I think of it, I’m drawn towards the thought that my autumnal deadline might just coincide with the first full-blown crisis of young Stevie’s work experience.

In this grand operatic saga of corruption, hypocracy, deception and craven journalism, The Fat Lady singing will be represented by the SMSM having no choice but to report that a peer of Lord Hodge has liquidated another Ibrox Holding Company Vehicle thingie. But this time the English MSM may give a fuck because StevieG is involved.
But there’ll be no Charles Green rushing on stage for a reprise this time, because there are no assets left to strip, there are no onerous contracts to milk and there is no value left in the brand. There is only Close Brothers who will already to talking to supermarkets and DIY stores about planning permission and talking to less affluent EFL League One/Two clubs about second hand PAs, LED panels and catering equipmment.
This Pheonix is Phuckt – and will not be rising again.
So the key question becomes, whether any of the invertebrates in the SMSM will break free from the Fat Controller and practise the black art of professional journalist – BEFORE the liquidation is a matter of court record?
The efforts to portray Gerrard as hitting the ground running when he is out of the country undertaking non-Sevco business is truly breathtaking, as I explore here (if I may…) https://theclumpany.wordpress.com/2018/06/03/a-complete-and-utter-piss-take/
And as for the so-called MacLennan ‘squirrel’, I am sorry to have to tell everyone that Dermot Demond has compromised the entire SFA and SPFL boards… https://theclumpany.wordpress.com/2018/06/03/a-disgraceful-conflict-of-interest/
Keep up the good work!
It occurs to me that when UEFA consider FFP and the free scaffolding being provided by a helpful fan off the books, they should also consider the financial value of the free PR TheRangers get week-in week-out from their obedient fans in the SMSM – sadly including the BBC – who really ought to be far above such parochial misinformation.
Hi Phil.
Will he make it to the autumn, they may have Euro qualifiers to play and where does that leave himself and master McAllister. So whose name did sevco put down as manager for the end of may deadline as master murts was sacked way before this as the sfa would have known and the trainee didn’t take up his post until 1st of June. Now there would be something for the smsm to get their teeth into instead of moonbeams and innuendo.
Keep up the good work
