An important thing about conducting a charm offensive is that you first must be charming.
I’m told that the organisers of the Florida Cup were horrified at the fascist repertoire of the Sevco choir.
A hat tip to the Sunday Herald’s Peter Swindon for exposing this quintessentially British ensemble in the Sunshine State.

For the uninitiated Billy Fullerton was the leader of an eponymous street gang in Glasgow during the inter-war period.

He was a self-proclaimed Fascist and a member of the Ku Klux Klan.
Even if some of the choir are not au fait with the identity of the gang or their leader they should be aware that they’re belting out a rather sinister line.
Human blood does not have an ethnicity.
Moreover, if you are knee deep in the stuff then something bad has happened.
Therefore, what the singers are tunefully wading in should move anyone’s moral compass.
When the historical context of “we are up to our knees in Fenian blood” was explained to the folks staging the family-friendly soccer ball competition they were utterly appalled.
The video in question has been removed from the website of the competiton organiser.
I wonder if Sevco will be asked back?
Of course, most of The People were not upset in the least by this expression of kulchurr.
In fairness, one or two Ibrox customers were embarrassed by this behaviour.

However, even when one of their own pointed this out the social media lynch mob did the Bouncy on him.

There are some sensitive souls at Ibrox who complain when I refer to the Billy Boys choir as “the klan”.
The lower case “k” is entirely deliberate.
I explained this terminology at some length in my last book “Minority Reporter: Modern Scotland’s bad attitude towards her own Irish”.
So the good folk of Florida, who had planned to go and watch an innocent soccer ball match with the kids, found themselves in close proximity to the klan.
They have my sympathy.
On the birthday of Doctor King, I am reminded that you have to call out racism wherever you encounter it.

For Billy Fullerton and his razor-wielding thugs, my community represented the people of colour in the city that he terrorised.
“Fenian” was the “N” word for The People then and so it remains every time they sing that song.
Of course, none of the supremacist invective from the stands in Florida has altered the financial realities of Sevco.
I’m told that the Sevco High Command had hoped to get some MLS interest in Niko Kranjčar while they were Stateside.
It is highly paid chaps like the Croatian that need to be removed from the wage bill.
As I had stated previously I am confident that my information is solid regarding the transport arrangements to Florida and that the players were asked to play for their own flights.
The reason given to them was that the Holding Company Vehicle was “moving between travel agents”.
Yeah.
Sure.
In fairness, the players were told that they would be recompensed in their next salary payment.
Meanwhile, the transfer business at Sevco, loan deals and no major purchases, further vindicates my previous reporting that there is no “kitty” let alone a “war chest”.
Spare a thought for Director of Fantasy Mark Allen.
There are two schools of thought within the Sevco High Command apropos this transfer window and he kinda caught in the middle.
The Alistair Johnson faction want a judicious use of mainly cost free loan deals.
However, the Impecunious Kid in Johannesburg wants a headline grabbing purchase of a player.
Of course, it will be funded by someone else as he won’t stump up.
Dave doesn’t do that sort of think you understand.
The Dave King approach to transfers in this window is probably best summed up by the debacle around Jamie Murphy.
Allen was journeying north thinking the transfer was a done deal and that Sevco had bought a player.
Then he was called and told to turn around and get a loan deal arranged!
One other thing, the flight that took Jamie Murphy to Glasgow for his medical.
Well, I’m told that Brighton paid for that.

At the latest count we have Cummings, Murphy, Martin on loan.
Is 3 the limit of players that can be included in a match squad therefore the need to make low ball offers for Jones and Docherty using their media friends to talk down the transfer fees, no doubt claiming the minute they sign up that they are worth twice the price.
Is this the reason why a deal for Naismith didnt go through or were Norwich expecting a big club like Newco to pick up most, or all of his wages, whereas going to Hearts they were prepared to lessen the wages burden?
I believe someone once said there is only one race.
The human race.
Not entirely true there is also the rat race.
Have you ever stopped to think for a moment that in these post-parody (Trump), post-satire (May), post-fact (Brexit), post-sanity (KJU), post-compassion (gig econonmy, NHS meltdown, Universal Credit, MeToo) days, that maybe we really ARE the bampots – bangiing on about rules and truth and sport and integrity and probity and governance and shit.
I’m hearing the Governor of Fl is gonna ban them from the State.
In keeping with the tradition of the day….
After the Battle …King James,as the vanquished King, visited William in his tent for a cup of wine …or three.
William saw how upset James was and asked him what was wrong….
James replied that he had never been so humiliated on the battle field….and would never get over it.
William then said….
“James…I guarantee you that….in two weeks time….no one will remember the Battle of the Boyne.”….:0)
That’s what would have happens if James had won
Hi Phil I know someone who works at Murray park, and he says sevco, not his term, they had a new type of grass laid, tried to describe it for me, any way the cost was over a million, and he says the rumors are none sense, he is paid on the button, also one of the investors owns cilibang not sure of spelling, and there is going to be an announcement made soon about oversea investor going to front up £80 mill, didn’t want to tell him he was talking shit, he is not an employee of sevco but outside self employed, so I couldn’t see him being privy to this information, whats your thoughts.
That’s a good story. Right up there with Harry Potter and Lord Of The Rings on the fantasy shelf at the bookstore.
As is friend, I would be deeply concerned if I were you. Friends don’t let friends sniff glue!
Very funny comment Benjamin.
Just when you think our media has plumbed the depths they prove us wrong.
The Ayr manager Ian McCall, former Ger, values the Killie player at £150k tops. Things are truly desperate when former players are called on to talk up, or in this case talk down, transfer targets.
McCall is actually saying that the lad is useless based on one performance against Ayr last season.
If he’s so poor why are Newco after him?
Was he paid for his contribution to the article or was he doing someone a favour?
Apart from the gullibles who do our media think they are kidding?
Despite cries of media bias against their club, they would be howling at the moon if that had a modicum of truth in it, their fans are the only ones still picking up the DR and ET and keeping the papers alive, hopefully not for much longer.
Perhaps in the future they will be replaced with a Level 5 publication aimed directly at the fans and reducing costs by missing out the middle man.
It can’t be cheap getting the crap they are pedding into the mainstream media.
Not content with that they are also running with a story that Dundee value Hendry at £1.5m, an inflation busting three times last week’s quoted number.
Nothing would embarrass these people passing themselves off as journalists. I suppose after a while printing piss and telling half truths becomes the norm.
Despite the £7m cash flow shortfall forecast in the accounts, a number that was redundant before it was published, not one person in the media is questioning the impact of the newbies on the wage bill.
So in relation to the reported offer of £350k for Jones we can expect a 2nd offer for somewhat less if McCall’s opinion accounts for anything.
Presuming Killie sent the first offer packing without discussing payment terms we can expect Clarke to lay bare the terms of any future offer, particularly if it includes a downpayment in May.
How dare Killie, or anyone else, prevent a player’s dream move to Newco, don’t they know their feckin place in the pecking order?
The SMSM would have us believe that Mark Allen has ample funds to spend on transfers in the conventional manner- but instead he prefers to search out bargain bin diamonds in the rough on Brighthouse terms to be sold for zillions in future window to balance the books.
My I suggest to Mark that his talents are wasted at Ibrox. Warren Buffet has made personal wealth of $90Bn on the stock market employing similar skills – to become the third richest person in the world.
Or could it be that the SMSM is missing something?
Interesting that hedge funds have been shorting Carillion since 2013 based on classic “healthy companies don’t do that” analysis – whilst HM Government has given Carillion £1.3Bn of new contract since serious profit warnings equivalent to saying “We can’t hide this any more, so we’ll have to paint the best possible picture for public announcements”.
Anyone see a parallel with bampots, SMSM etc
Just a thought. It maybe the case that the FBI does have some jurisdiction. Many routine international banking transfers go through intermediary third party banks which are located in for example New York. This is one way in which the USA has a finger in many financial and legal pies. Perhaps someone could enlighten further with more enlightened or detailed insight?
Looking at the ever increasing number of loanees coming through the Ibrox door it strikes me that none of them would make the Celtic bench.
However the reaction from the blue side to their signings is one of astonishing optmism built on absolutely nothing.
Going for 55 is back on the agenda this season although Celtic have lost 1 game from 22 and would need to lose 4 from the remaining 18 with Newco winning all of their’s.
It ain’t going to happen.
If indeed most of the loanees sign on in the summer that will immediately remove a significant amount of cash from May’s ST take.
To best Celtic they need to recruit players who are better than those in the Celtic squad, some international players from wherever.
That’s expensive and the likes of Goss, Murphy, Cummings and Martin are not the answer.
A new face must be funding the spend, even if it’s just funding the extra monthly faces on the payroll.
It smacks of a last desperate attempt to displace Celtic from their perch and at best is high risk
i have an irish friend living in florida , he’s from a little town in cork ireland , he’s not known as mad mick for nothing , i can assure you and you’re readers they wouldn’t be spilling his blood or his fellow fenians blood without a costly price to be paid lol !
interested Phil if you have any update on our signings this window. The dead ones have signed nobody of note as far as I am concerned seems to have gone quiet but hopefully that is a good sign for us as the media dont seem to have a clue what we are doing
Regarding your first line, Phil, Sevvie is as Sevvie does, they left out the charm and went straight for the offensive.
Who’d’ever’ve thunk it?!
Tellingly, Alabama, Mississippi & Arkansas ignore MLK Day, choosing, rather, to ‘celebrate’ the birthday of Confederate general Robert E. Lee on that day.
The original home of the Klan still thriving in their redneckery and redhandery.
Expect the ‘closer to home klan’ to be agitating for an official ‘Billy Fullerton Day’ now that they’ve read this.
It’s not a coincidence that those states rank #44, #47, #49 out of fifty in education.
That must be what their ‘car park memorial garden’ must be for!
To clarify…Martin Luther King Jr. Day is an American ‘federal’ holiday and as such is ‘celebrated’ in all 50 US States. Seven states have chosen to combine commemorations of Dr. King’s birthday with other observances including the states you mentioned in your post. The other states have either Civil Rights Day or Human Rights Day day celebrations added to Dr. King’s birthday.
Slan,
Anne
I live in Alabama and that is just flat out not true. MLK day is celebrated here, because Birmingham and Selma, AL were indispensable to the civil rights movement!!!
Here’s the link, it wasn’t Wiki:
‘Three states celebrate Confederacy on MLK Day.
Rachel Maddow points out that while all 50 states celebrate the holiday honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., three states, Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas, celebrate the birthday of Confederate general Robert E. Lee on that same day.Jan 19, 2015.’
http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/some-states-its-not-just-day-honor-dr-king
‘Arkansas ended the practice last year’
http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2018/01/alabama_mississippi_only_2_sta.html
While Trump himself ‘broke with tradition’, ie, ignored it completely, and went golfing …
https://nypost.com/2018/01/15/trump-takes-time-off-from-mlk-day-to-play-round-of-golf/
Then refused to answer questions about whether he’s a racist or not …
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-racist-shithole-martin-luther-king-event-white-house-a8156391.html
So, to recap, Arkansas now no longer acknowledge Robert E. Lee, while Mississippi & Alabama, Dr King’s home state, still celebrate the Confederate general, while the president doesn’t care for MLK at all and would rather play golf.
And, lest anyone have any doubts about the latter concern …

I see the board, or someone, has sent our ‘new man’ out dissing Erik’s ‘selfishness’, in a thinly veiled, sarcastically arrogant, manner.
This is a guy who hasn’t kicked a ball for us in a game yet, who can’t even play in our biggest match of the year so far in the Europa, now casting multiple ‘pearls of wisdom’ about Brendan, the squad, team spirit, and why we need to get rid of guys like Erik, sneakily alluding to their ‘selfishness’ and ‘lack of team spirit’ because he got a new motor ..
Wtf is going on backstage at Celric, when we have guys we don’t even know dissing those who have, at least, scored against Sevco in the cup ..?
A fortnight in Dubai and suddenly he’s an expert on all things Celtic ..?
This is disrespect of the lowest order, veiled, as it is, under Marvin ‘just airing his opinion’.
It distinctly lacks the class so long associated with Brendan Rodgers so whoever has put him up to this lowball assault on a man who is STILL a Celtic player, loan return to FC Midtjylland notwithstanding, is not worthy of a place at our club, as this reeks of Sevcoesque bitterness after the fact.
Add to this that Armstrong joins Roberts & Rogic on the sick list, leaving us 3 creative outlets short (not that any of the three of them have been that ‘creative’ all season), our backline still in bits due to Jozo & Dedryck’s ‘personal differences’ and NO players brought in, you’d think it was Sevco that had the Euro game coming up rather than Celtic.
Who needs a biscuit tin when you can carry all yer swag round in an onion bag and the fans are so busy cheering to notice that roughly 20 million a year is falling through the holes?
The cracks in the facade are showing.
Celtic are a listed company with institutional shareholders. I can’t see them allowing £20m – or even £0.2m – to simply disappear without explanation. Do you have any sources for this claim?
“Obsessed”
The new buzz word for the £1brox BLAWHARDS !
It translates to
“Gawny stoap laffin it wit happind tae raa rainjurrz an gawny stoap laffin at the new rainjurrrz” !
Im obsessed , totaly obsessed !
When Rangers bought Kranjcar, he was playing his trade for the NY Cosmos. For those unaware, the Cosmos are semi-famous in America having one had some guy named Pele on their roster. These days, they play in what amounts to the 2nd division in American soccer. And without promotion/relegation, the league is essentially a semi-pro league on par with Scotland’s league 2 or non-league football in England.
That Rangers found no buyers for Kranjcar while they were in Florida should not be a surprise. Since moving on from his stint in the semi-pro league, he’s 2 years older, 2 years slower, and hobling around the pitch on newly reconstructed knee ligaments.
He’s so far past his sell-by date, he’s starting to ferment. I think a few agents may have gotten a little buzz sniffing around him in the warm Florida heat.
What a load of obsessed hypocrites you are. I am a Rangers (upper case R deliberate) season holder who, like many of our fans, does not sing the songs or glorify the people behind them. I am simply a football fan. Do you have a plant on the board of Rangers FC to get you all your information? I think not because it’s all created in your obsessed little minds. Jimboh, hi mate, while you’re talking to the Scottish Government give a wee mention to the green brigade for their support of the defunct murdering terrorist bastards the ira. (Lower case deliberate for both).
I feel the pain. I really do pmsl.
So administration did not happen then?
So LIQUIDATION (all upper case intentionally) did not happen then?
Rangers were “demoted” were they?…..really?
Rangers died mate so fuck off back to zombie land with the rest of your horrible support.
HH
HAIL HAIL
william, (nut case)-(Deliberately) You’re surly not suggesting asking the SNP to condemn the Green Brigade for supporting a now defunct Freedom fighting IRA , (upper case deliberate) When they themselves Support a now Defunct Freedom Fighting William Wallace are you? .
Apology accepted. It’s not easy to admit you support the wrong team, but if it’s of any comfort, your grandchildren will be celtic supporters.
No problem with that William and while I am about it, just in the spirit of fairness, I’ll indulge in a little bit of “whataboutery” and bring up the UVF and the other myriad of Loyalist Paramilitary groups that are celebrated by the rangers/Sevco fans at every ground in Scotland.
willie cole,
I’m guessing you’re not in Mensa?
No mention of loyalist terrorism as usual the conflict in Ireland was all one way according to you and yet buddies
I regularly tweet the SPFL to enquire as to the well being of their match delegates and their hearing. I never get a response.
I wrote to both the SFA and the SPFL to offer to pay for three seats at every ground in the league for myself and one each of their guys to sit and take in a game and specifically listen to the shouts and chants from the stands.
Again, no response or acknowledgment of my correspondence. I specifically highlighted that we take in a Celtic away game in order to give some fans a chance to rub them up the wrong way in order to “even things up”.
They know fine well what is being sung and by whom and they have decided, for their own safety especially, to just ignore. If they punish one they think they need to punish the other. They see Scottish football as a two team, two tribe affair. If only the owners of the other clubs really gave a damn and didn’t aspire themselves to sit atop the marble staircase then maybe the authorities would do something about it.
Why the first minister says nothing is another disgrace. The most foul filth emanates from her own constituency and she does nothing.
If they punish the biggest culprits then they will be bombarded with “whataboutery” and they effectively do the victim mentality marketing for those idiots.
Scottish football is damned. The Scottish government hide behind ineffective policy and sound bites whilst more bigotry than ever before goes unchecked and therefore encouraged.
Shame on them.
Shows how little I know; I’d always thought Billy Boys was a reference to William of Orange!
Without belittling the very real racism issue, it does trouble me that derisory terms like ‘fenian’ and even ‘jock’ aren’t considered as unacceptable as the N-word that’s so awful that no-one ever writes it out in full or ‘yid’, ‘Paki’, ‘Chinky’ or – apparently ‘Jap’ which I’m told is now a politically incorrect abbreviation.
Yes, I agree.
It shows how little you know…
Somehow, I don’t feel in anyway disadvantaged by being fortunate enough not to have grown up in an environment steeped in sectarian nonsense. Wasn’t entirely exempt from it, often my morning and evening journeys to and from school I’d run the gauntlet of punches, kicks and being spat at by kids from the one Catholic school in town and labelled a ‘proddy bastard’ on account of the uniform I had to wear while the hours in between would be spent dodging the flurry of punches, kicks, gob and accusations of being a ‘fenian c**t’ on account of the scarf that I chose to wear. Came home from my first day at secondary school, cheerfully whistling ‘Billy Boys’ having picked it up from the strange looking kid who whistled it at me all day long, thinking the poor child was touched. He wasn’t, he was just a brainless, narrowminded, indoctrinated son of an orangeman but unfortunately it’s obvious it’s not confined to just one side of the divide. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss. Sometimes it’s just ignorance.
Fenian is NOT a derisory term!
I am proud to be a Fenian!
I listen to songs about brave Fenians who struggled to free their country from foreign invaders!
I just don’t like when the word b*****d follows it.
Lol
On the subject of Billy Boys, you do realise they are the top selling brand of condom in Germany?
It appears Florida Cup glory has eluded the Bearmacht …
The minds of the mindless can never be changed.
Surely people organising basically friendly tournaments must realise just what they are getting by inviting sevco, and their ,disgusting fans, who still live in the dark ages.
Will the SFA investigate and punish TRFC for their fans bringing the game into massive disrepute overseas in the USA?
They shame Scotland as a National disgrace.
Will the offenders be brought to the law? Scots law can be executed against anyone for a criminal act anywhere in the world. This is a feature of Scots Law which is unique.
@ROTB – Don’t talk shyte. Scotland doesn’t have jurisdiction anywhere in the world and some countries don’t even allow extradition for crimes committed in Scotland. But feel free to quote (and link) the Act of Law that states it does. LOL
The Libyan bomber tried in The Hague with Scots Law. Scottish QCs, Scots judges and Scots prosecutor.
Having viewed Paul Larkin’s excellent Anyone But Celtic film it showed freemasonry is totally alive and kicking in Scottish football, not that we needed any real evidence. I imagine we would be stonewalled by the Scottish goverment on this subject, waste of breath in my opinion.
If you are up to your knees in blood you can bet your boots, you will be getting the sack from the blood bank.
Anyone know, under SPFL regulations, what’s the maximum number of players a club/company/ethereal entity can have on loan at any one time?
Or will the regulations be temporarily amended- special circumstances and all that?
Three? With only one on the park at any time in a game.
https://spfl.co.uk/docs/067_324__therulesofthescottishprofessionalfootballleagueasat24july201_1502440056.pdf
https://spfl.co.uk/spfl/
I am assured that they will be…
“Imperfectly Loaned.”
HH
Their hatred is what defines them. You take that away and they are nothing which is why the cling to it so desperately. All decent people can see them for what they are – racists and bigots.
Jamie Murphy has a rotten goals scored to games played ratio for the last two years. Really poor. It suggests 2.5 goals for sevco to end of season.
Jason Cummings recent goal scoring ratio suggests one goal to end of season for sevco.
Will these goals be loaned like the players?
This isn’t enough to unseat Aberdeen.
Even though they are the World’s Most Embarrassing Club, I believe they could be embarrassed even further by some radical official action. The same guidelines would also humiliate the SFA who would either be forced to bring in the legislation or simply show themselves up for being the Sevco sympathisers and apologists that they are perceived to be.
Instruct the referees that in the event of hearing the songs in question coming from the stands, the game will be stopped and the Sevco manager along with the match commander will be called onto the centre circle and told why. They would be made to take notice of the time of the incident and told any repeat whilst their supporters were still in the stadium, even after the final whistle will result in a 10-0 loss awarded against Sevco plus a further 6pts deduction or instant dismissal from a Cup competition and a £200k fine. Pre-match this notification would be the duty of the police, which in turn would embarrass them into taking action.
The same legislation would carry the threat for teams who are slightly lesser but equally irrelevant as Sevco, e.g. Hearts and Kilmarnock.
In the event of this coming into force, particularly in Sevco’s case, the threat of financial penalties would surely force their directors to plead with their followers to stop.
The only slight downside…..I’d miss them embarrassing themselves!
If the day ever dawns, when Referees come from Mars on a Rocket ship….and leave immediately after the game to go back to Mars….then your suggestion has some merit.
If not, however, then we’re lumbered with the same old Brothers in charge of games.
It was ever thus….and won’t change anytime soon.
The people who run our game are not fit for purpose…but are fire-proof.
It is Scotland remember.
Racism and sectarianism is at its worst and most dangerous when it goes unchallenged, is considered harmless, and excused as a sort of humour or banter. That sort of soil provides a home to extremeist weeds who would otherwise be destitute.
With regime change at Ibrox in 2012, they had an opportunity to distance themselves from all this and put an end to the Kulturkampf. Instead of doing so, with a concerned eye on season ticket sales, they signaled that it would be business as usual as far as sectarianism is concerned.
It was only two or three years ago that Ally McCoist came out in front of a full house at Ibrox, carrying his son, to announce (using a microphone so that nobody would be spared) that “we are the people”. They were celebrating winning the second division.
But there’s s price to be paid for this superiority complex and I think it’s one of many factors that contribute to the impossible finances at Ibrox we see today.
In this age of political correctness, what brand and marketing managers would want associated with that sort of toxic culture?
And it’s that same irrational sense of superiority that prevents them from cutting their cloth to suit and going through a sustainable recovery process.
The superior people demand success today, immediately, not some time down the road. Bang goes your finances and youth development.
They certainly are the people.
No comments from rangers. Tells me all I need to know.
I see one of their own has turned on them now! Well done, Kris Boydichenko, for telling sevco to do one, after their risible bid for an internationalist that plays for Kilmarnock. These “dyed in the wool” guys are slooooowly realising that the wool is in fact cheap polyester threads, and the dye is non-permanent! Let’s hope the penny (arcade) is finally beginning to drop with ra peepul.
Campaign started to villify Killie and Clarke for holding out for their valuation of Jones.
It’s amazing, but hardly surprising, that their media fan club won’t go anywhere near the fact that no transfer fees are being paid and all the squad additions are loanees.
Add in those loanees recalled and the wage bill has gone through the roof.
Pena appears to be the only outward move but according to the Mexicaj club’s Chairman they are picking up less than half or his wages and a nominal fee will be paid if his loan spell is successful.
A quite different picture to that presented by Level 5 to it’s media whores.
Just as well that Newco has so many CA’s on call to monitor the situation. Great business for Level 5 as they talk up the great business being done by Newco.
Let’s not forget the De Facto Chairman who, no matter the cost, is determined to appeal, appeal, appeal with someone else picking up the bills.
Whilst King will be delighted to kick the TOP thingy down the road there is absolutely hee haw chance of a share offer whilst King is on the premises.
The auditors forecast of a £7m cash flow deficit over the next season and a half was out of date before it was published.
Goss, Murphy, Cummings, Martin, MOH,Dodoo, Halliday….all loanees of some sort or another.
The likes of Niko, Alves, Herrera, Cardoso, Rossiter, all on good money but contributing nothing.
Has a 3rd party stepped up to the plate to provide sustenance with loans secured against Ibrox and Murray Park?
Let’s remember that according to the most recent audited accounts, the 2018/2019 shortfall of £3.5m that NOAL promised to fund was estiamted on fandabidozilly profitiable transfer deals, spendiferously lucrative European football victories and ingnoration of numerous imminently crystallizing liabilities, So let’s call that £3.5m what it should be – £10m minimum. Which turns the oft repeated £7m for NOAL to fund into at least £13.5m – to anyone with basic arithmetic and without a Scottish NUJ card.
All these loaners are good news for the cashflow – providing enough luxury duds can be moved on – but – and it’s a big but – when admin hits they will all be homeward bound pronto – meaning that the 15 point deduction will just be the start of their relegation battle with a threadbear squad.
See if the Klan traced their own ancestry they’d be fking surprised how many are Catholic descent. Stupid bastards.
Keep shining the light Phil.
They all receive Roman Catholic blood transfusions.
It crossed my mind on Monday how much bad news was released after the liquidation of Carillion was announced that went unnoticed. Surely, this was a window of opportunity missed by Sevco to press their nuclear administration button? There may not be similar cover at the end of February to hide under when King and the TOP go head-to-head again in the Court of Session.
No, no, no. Carillion is not being liquidated, it’s the holding company that owns them that is in trouble.
Business as usual………where’s Charles Green when he’s needed?
A sincere question .
Are the Irish a race?
Race is not just about skin colour.
So the sincere answer is yes.
Another honest question, what makes them a race ?
Are the Scottish a race ?
How many races are there ?
In the 19th century, racial ‘theorists’ like Gobineau came up with an answer to this.
Most people today view their conclusions as idiotic; as idiotic as the Rangers supporters with their
Billy Boys song.
My paternal bloodline stretches back to the Domesday Book and my maternal one back through County Clare a long way apparently with some Pictish thrown in. It is my firm contention, respectfully, that we are both ‘white caucasian’ as a race. As for any particular group within that race, your identity can be Irish, Scots, English – whatever you see it as – but Irish is no more a race than Scots, Welsh, Shetlanders, Orcadians, (or Yorkshire or any other clearly defined grouping which claim distinct identities). Come to that, when a teaspoonful of melanin can have a massive impact on external appearance but minimal impact on essential differences, I would have to say that all the evidence is that all the races of the world have far more in common that separates them. No doubt, you will wish to disagree, as is your prerogative but I would rather seek that which binds us together in humanity than that which divides us.
As for the klan, more often known as huns where I grew up – a well-deserved pejorative then as now – they are the reason I gravitated to rugby with its superior sporting ethics, camaraderie and egalitarian ethos (yes, where I grew up, it was egalitarian to a far greater degree than football).
Mea culpa. In the comment above, please edit
all the races of the world have far more in common that separates them
to
to all the races of the world have far more in common than anything that separates them
Thanks
I got that off the Klan when I pointed out that anti Irish songs are racism the reply was Irish is not a race. I was over in clonmel visiting relatives a few weeks back and the breath of fresh air of freedom hit me hard .
I am thinking of moving over by like you did it’s a far better country than hear with no klan
Race , Creed & Colour…
Elaborate please! Nae funny answers!
Ffs. Really???
A good point, Onionbhag. The irony is that ‘race’is itself a racist term, since the original idea of ‘racism’ (invented in the 19th century by the French Count Arthur de Gobineau and elaborated in Britain by Houston Stewart Chamberlain) was that there were different human ‘strains’ or races each with a distinct root (‘race’ in this sense means ‘root’ – from the latin radix, cp. radish) and that some races were superior to others. In his ‘Essay on the Inequality of the Human Races’ (1853-55), he suggests that there are three races – Black, Yellow and White – with the Black being physically strong but incapable of intelligent thought (so ideal slave labour) while the Yellow (Asiatic) were physically and mentally mediocre but with some redeeming characteristics; while the White (of course) were superior in all respects, being alone capable of intelligent thought, gifted with beauty and capable of creating beauty. Within the White race, he thought the Aryans maintained their original racial purity, while the Alpine and Mediterranean races were degenerate strains. He did not accept that his three races had a common ancestor, thinking that the whites originated in Siberia, the Yellows in the Americas and the Blacks in Africa. All this has subsequently been shown to be entirely without foundation but has proved remarkably persistent (which may say something about ideas people want to believe, no matter how far-fetched). It is from Gobineau that the Nazis and the rest derived their ideas. So, remembering what one great sports journalist said about Joe Louis – ‘He is a credit to his race – the human race’ we really should be looking for some other term in which to frame the debate, rather than one that preserves and promotes the very ideology it seeks to oppose (I suppose that trouble starts with The Race Relations Act of 1965, which enshrines the term ‘race’ in law with the best of intentions, but in my view misguidedly – by saying you can’t discriminate on grounds of race, you imply that there are different races). Please excuse so long a comment, but it is an important point.
I propose we have Nations and Countries made up of different Ethnicities within. All equal. Not different Races.
People have different Ethnic backgrounds ( both culture and dna) but belong to the same Nations.
Curiously, some Irish would claim Saint Patrick as being a Celt of the Irish Race, which is entirely untrue.
Patrick was a Romanised Briton, likely a Scot, from South of the Antonine wall. A freeman of the Roman Empire and Christian.
He was captured and forcibly taken to Ireland against his will. The 5th Century patron saint of Ireland is therefore not of the Irish Race. If such a thing exists.
Just as St Andrew is not Scottish.
It would be more appropriate if Patrick was adopted as Scotland’s patron saint. His church in Ireland created St Columba and St Kentigern/ Mungo who brought Irish Christianity to upper Scotland. Full circle.
Strike Race insert ethnicity.
I would venture that Scottish St Patrick was the same ethnicity as his Irish captors.
St Patrick was just another great thing Britannia has given Ireland. ??
The United States has many Races, The UK has many Races, Australia and Canada have many Races.
Ireland is a Country. Countries hold many Races within its citizenship. There’s Indians, Pakistanis, Sikhs, Chinese, Latins, etc….. who all hold Irish citizenship but are of multiple Races.
The ancient Irish DNA pool is a commingling of many peoples (Some would say Races). Vikings, Scots, etc…
The concept of any Nation State today containing a singular Race of people is ludicrous. It’s racism! It’s Naziism!
I watched a tv program last night showcasing Ireland’s six greatest treasures. The importance culturally to the people of Ireland and the nation of these artifacts. Irish professors of antiquity rolled out these treasured wonders. The Tara Brooch and Book of Kells were two. It was explained that these were made in the 6th and 8th centuries. One by a goldsmith, one by Monks. The swirling knot artistry and sea creatures eating their own tails was pointed out as mistakenly identified as Celtic artistry which it is not.
The professor showed a genuine first century Celtic artifact and said this is mainland European Celtic art from 600 years earlier. The Celts were much earlier people but Irish society believes these 6th century Monks were Celts and this art Celtic is all wrong. The Monks were Irish and they were using a fusion of designs influenced from many cultural sources post Roman Empire to create their art. An Irish Art.
So what is the Irish Race if it exists? Is it the people? With their mixed dna? Is it the history of Ireland? Is it Irish Culture? Influenced through millennia by so many other cultures? To propose it’s a race of Celts is profoundly incorrect.
Ireland is a small island. Humanity did not evolve there. People arrived there. They’ve always arrived there for thousands of years and continue to do so.
Incidentally, another of the great treasures of Ireland showcased was Prince William of Orange’s gauntlets from the battle of the Boyle.
These white doe skinned gloves with large golden cuffs were remarkable items. The cultural importance of these items (I think they were in a Dublin Miseum) was discussed.
Interestingly it was stated by a professor that William was backed by the Pope and the Vatican and that King James was backed by German Protestants (with soldiers too). It was not religious but political.
The Vatican had hoped that William would defeat Louis XIV of France.
Nah, they just write that in the history books, their main aim at the time was to divide Scotland & Ireland via religious and territorial means, like all war’s about.
They’re only after the spoils of it, they don’t give a monkeys ahoy the actual countries, as they have all of them in their pocket now anyway.
It’s yer original Trilateral Commission; the Vatican divides through religion, the 2nd Sovereign State, the City of London divides via finance and the third of the world’s Three Sovereign States, Washington DC, does it through the military p.
They expanded the Virginia Corporation from Britain into America, changed the name to the USA after yet another phony war that pretended to be for ‘independence’ but the fact is Britain still owns America to this day.
Proof can be found in America’s tax records, which you can peruse at your leisure after typing ‘Britain Owns America’ into your chosen search engine.
Cowboys & engines right enough …
The boyne actually!!
There are 2 overarching meanings of the word Race; one in biology & the other as a social concept. It fits the latter.
Makes you wonder ,just when ‘The Sevco’ will treat The Murphy’s of this world with the respect they deseve……
Sevco as a club do as they please. There fans can sing whatever they want too.
Honestly, everything about this club is the worst thing in our great small country.
No suprise that the police here or the S.F.A. turn a blind eye. Surely it is now up to celtic and fans to start asking the above for answers.
The Polis & the SFA ( Sweet FA, well named for their lack of action where Sevco are concerned.), will just throw a deafy. We really need to start protesting at a political level. Show the Scottish Government that not only do Sevcos minions drive a horse & charriot through their much vaunted antisectarian footbal legislation but the inaction of the Police, sanctioned obviously from a Supervisory level, show the grip that Freemasonry has on Scottish Civil life. If we want to stop being the best wee biggoted country on earth and profess to strive for true inclusion, then this so called, Scotland’s secret shame, has got to be addressed head on from top dowm, Civil Service, Judiciary and the Police. BBC & the printed media.
Well said Jimboh I could,nt agree more.
Well said , couldn’t agree more.
Well said and a great thought……….but it is too deep seated.
Here’s a wee thought why don’t the investigators who brought the corrupt FIFA and UEFA officials down look into the workings of the corrupt SFA/SPFL.See my thought will get the same outcome as your thought it will be ignored.
Why don’t you allow your thoughts on this run through to their logical conclusion, Owen, then ask yourself WHY such thoughts of openness and transparency will be ignored?
There’s one continuous thread in this entire ongoing scandal which ensures the concomitant silence of all the clubs, including Celtic, and I would like you to present us with an idea of what it is, since you clearly have a grasp of the power of it, at least in the first instance.
This way, we can all acknowledge your thought processes on this matter in their entirety.
The initial investigators were the American FBI. They had jurisdiction as some of the corrupt money went through the US banking system. Some of the bribes attempted bribes resulted in U.S.soccer bids to hold World Cup and I think it was CONCAF tournements in the Americas being lost to other bidders. Unfortunately don’t see any criteria for FBI involvement with the mighty SFA.
All handshakes aside …
You are aware this horrible little ditty was sung in America were they have a First Amendment that allows such anti-Irish language and the SPFL and Police Scotland have no jurisdiction?
SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster: “We’ve seen that strict liability doesn’t work.”
