Brendan Rodgers has now won four domestic trophies on the bounce.
No Celtic manager has achieved that since the immortal Jock Stein.
That is SIXTY-FIVE domestic matches unbeaten since the Antrim man took over at Parkhead.
It is on days like this that the historic events of 2012 are now starting to be truly felt.
Plane Fitba is now experiencing an epoch of unipolarity.
In the two horse race of the SPL, one of the horses took a performance-enhancing substance and then dropped dead.
That is not the fault of the horse that is still alive.
It is up to others to now step up.
Today Celtic, with heavy legs from Paris, were never really out of second gear.
However, that was enough torque to see off Motherwell.
The first component of the treble is in the bag.
Across the city, the replacement competitor for the deceased horse can only look on at such occasions.
The lame mule that is Sevco does not even have a manager at the time of writing.
An Ibrox source told me this morning that the players have been informed that the process to appoint the manager is “almost complete”.
Moreover, the same chap told me to expect that the next man in the hot seat will be Mr Alexander McLeish EBT.
Whoever is appointed will look over the city to a Celtic who are uncatchable.
We would welcome a chase, but we don’t expect one.
Well done Bhoys!

fact is Sevco cannot be Real RainJurz.Sevco are EBTless and that Fact is more than evident on the field of play.Sevco who insist they are Real RainJurz Yet have no Sporting advantage,Reason is Simple. The reason is at Best they are mediocre with a flutter every now and again against lesser teams. If McInnes wasnt touted for the Sevco Helm(et).Would Aberdeens tactics been so Lacklustre…..There Obsession with Everything Green n White and Bides at Paradise is Testament to just how Warped this Cretinous Cartoon is,And its not going to End Nicely for Them.Long May They Endure…..HH
Phil,
You say, briefly, that it is up to others to step up. How do you think this can be achieved given Celtic’s financial dominance?
That’s other people’s problems it’s not for Celtic to go easy on anyone particular after all the abuse Neil Lennon and Ronnie deila received for not dominating Scottish football
Now we are dominating we are classed as villains and show leniency to other clubs? The attack on both our previous managers through the press tells its own story in short we owe nothing to anyone and it’s not our place to help others become more competitive I seen the clamber a few days ago from all quarters in Scotland offering help to make Celtic more competitive in the champions league against teams like PSG ? the rest in Scotland chose quite willingly take some cheap shots but I wonder how many will knock back the free cash Celtic have earned them
Err… what are you on about? No-one is saying Celtic should go easy on anyone. I’m asking how any other Club can step up given the financial disparity. I don’t think it’s possible, but maybe Phil can suggest otherwise.
No suggestions to the contrary from me I’m afraid.
You see, I hold to this bizarre notion that having much more money than your opponent confers a sporting advantage.
The consequences of what transpired in 2012 are only now starting to be felt.
No getting players you otherwise couldn’t afford thru illegal means offers no sporting advantage. Just ask the SFA.
Sorry if I misunderstood stood you ? But I don’t think I did you see the game in Scotland is pretty much financed through fans one way forward for clubs is increasing the support to gain revenue right now simply making it more affordable to wider audience might increase shirt sales etc I don’t feel clubs are putting enough resources into scouting at under 19 level find a few players that early sell big later I also believe Scottish clubs sell ourselves short in the transfer windows we give away some amount of talent to cheaply just my honest opinion either way it will take years
I agree. Clubs simply haven’t changed their Business Models to cope with the comparative lack of money that comes into the Scottish Leagues. In the 2000s Rangers only ever made a profit if they managed to get into the CL, and without it they made huge losses leading eventually to events of 2012. Their business model was fundamentally flawed. Currently all Clubs with the exception of Celtic have to find new business models and revenue streams if they are to prosper and flourish comparatively to Celtic. Otherwise Celtic will just continue to bring in the CL monies thus maintaining their sporting advantage.
couldn’t agree more well put
my comment was directed to Dougie Riddle
eck contacted sky to say he’s not taking sevco job
Bookies seem to know it’s McLeish EBT.
More of the same old same old duffers.
Guessing he getting a McCall type deal to end of season to see what he can do then sacked like McCall.
Motherwell clearly had an intent to get rid of the main threat to them, Dembele.
Get him injured and get him off the park. It’s the only way they could win. Desperate stuff to win some silver.
If he’s out for months again then the better. Get this invincibles side down to one striker. That’s the agenda.
They deserved to be beaten.
Tainted cup. Celtic could easily have won that without a cheating ref. Refused a stonewall penalty for Motherwell and gave one for a blatant dive. He even had the nerve to ask the player if he dived, as if he would say yes I did!
It really is disgusting that Celtic celebrate winning in this manner. The talking point should have been about how Celtic won ( or in the odd event Motherwell won ) NOT about how Motherwell were blatantly cheated.
As a fan I have watched over the years how the Glasgow two get all the dodgy decisions, and I was pleasantly surprised Sevco didn’t get a late penalty the other night, but surely a team as strong as Celtic doesn’t need help from corrupt officials.
When Celtic minded commentators are claiming it a disgrace, then Celtic should quietly take the cup and hide it.
There will be no hiding of any cup and no subdued celebration, ever. If you were a Celtic supporter you would know why.
Moult was offside so no penalty ( watch it again ) Kipre then Dembele then Tait could have walked for studs up challenges Dembele was the only 1 carded the challenge on him was not deemed a foul Tait was deemed a foul then McHugh should have had a 2nd yellow Cheating Ref indeed .
Dembele made no studs contact. The back wall of his boot (heel) scuffed across the boot toes of the Well player.
In contrast, Dembele received full force every boot stud square on into the inside of his lower leg. Potentially career ending assault.
Sutton was wrong, against the rules, on the penalty but his loud position influences viewers. Sutton was a big physical player so thinks anything less than a big robust tackle doesn’t count. He is out of touch with modern rules.
The well defender should have been off 40 minutes earlier. He was lucky to get so long in the game.
Name a Celtic minded commentator!
Motherwell had no chance against the high performing establishment club.
Motherwell’s Greatest Footballer, Kieran Tierney, plays for Celtic.
Must disagree with Mach 1, Sutton and others it was a penalty,
I was right behind the goal Cipre was wrong sided and made contact soft maybe but enough under the rules.
As I understand the red card was given because he made no attempt to play the ball. Apparently the new rules indicate that a red need not be given if an attempt to play the ball has been made even though a penalty has been awarded.
Security at Hampden appeared non existent yesterday , flares at both ends of the ground, guys beside me with cans and certainly at our turnstile no bag searches.
Ragers v Aberdeen ion Wednesday gives Murty a chance to win 3 in row……because Traynor says Dundee & Hamilton beat the Holding Vehicle Co and that reports in the aftermath of these games are wrong……read it and weep, Jabba
As Lord Bannatyne works towards a judgement on a fitting punishment for King blatantly ignoring the Takeover Panel order he will take as much time as necessary.
With much of UK law built on precedent there is little chance of King walking away unscathed from his failure to comply with the TOP order otherwise UK Company Law will be consigned to the bin and bigger fish than King will run amok.
I was a child when Gary mcswegan rapped in the rebound with minutes to go to stop back to back trebles for rangers. Old enough to remember it.
All I can remember is the papers of the day (every household in 90s HAD to have a newspaper) raving about a possible back to back treble.
I don’t recall any negativity to such a feat being within Rangers grasp……somehow I think there will be a lot of stuff on how the game is dull and sponsors won’t like it etc etc.
Nobody back then for what I remember said, Scottish football needs a strong celtic. Although please correct me if I’m wrong
Referee was diabolical today, Cedric Kipre should have been off early on, he could have snapped dembeles leg, the penalty was a massive injustice to Motherwell and Sinclair should be ashamed of his dive. I felt embarassed, still I think we were worthy winners and Motherwell would not have came back into game.
Levels up some shocking “honest mistakes” in semi finals of recent. I just hope the Scottish cup isn’t full of bad decisions for us. Time will tell
I STAND CORRECTED. I was a little young, it was craig Brewster who scored the goal.
47 minutes the goal not near the end. Still to meet a fellow Arab who never had that scorecast on. 10/1 paid for the following 4 days of celebrations.
Yep, a most excellent weekend. A very welll done to brilliant brendan and the bhoys
Well done Brendan’s Bhoys, a deserved win. Cedric Kipre should have been red-carded in first half for a shocking studs up attack on Dembele, but I would join Chris Sutton in saying that referee Craig Thomson had a conspicuously awful game and should not have either awarded a penalty or sent off Kipre. This would have made for a more even competition, which Celtic, one-nil up and cruising, would have won.
As for the trolls on here complaining about why there is interest in the Sevco situation – the move along Timmy, nothing to see here attitude has had its day. We are seeing the implosion of a zombie version of the established football order with the tribulations of Sevco. There should be an investigation into King, and the processes which gave him a clean bill of health to run the Ibrox outfit into the ground, again. It is this arrogant attitude, that Sevco are beyond comment, which makes it so important to question what is going on there, and why the Scottish football authorities have failed to address the underlying issues on ownership and fit and proper persons, which affect all clubs in Scotland.
Let’s turn back to the matter in hand. Brendan has matched the mighty Stein, and Celtic are now proud holders of four trophies in a row and an unbeatable unbeaten world series. Enjoy yourselves tonight. Rest easy and wake to a new day, with more footballing history to make.
I wonder if he did get a clean bill of health. What did the SFA / SPFL show Mike Ashley to get him to drop his court action? Anyone know?
“One of the horses … dropped dead”
It’s neigh bother for Celtic. Sevco might not be around furlong!!
Brilliant.
Yep 65 and counting. 95 will see the league wrapped up and historic back to back trebles.
Don’t know how many times I read/heard that a win for Well today would be great for Scottish football.
I doubt that would be the case if the Govan mob was in our position.
Debt for equity, if a share offer ever gets off the ground, brings no fresh money into the club/company/thingy. All it will do is leave those who have ponied up the £14m of soft loans with near worthless share certificates and £14m out of pocket for their troubles.
It’s no surprise that they have walked away and left King on his lonesome. They won’t be going down that road again.
They are now completely reliant on a glib and shameless liar who switches between being penniless and rolling in cash dependent on who his audience is.
I trust this matter has not escaped the eye of Lord Bannatyne who would be quite entitled to be asking questions of King’s counsel who in turn should be asking questions of his client.
Still no word from Regan’s Compliance Officer on the task handed down to him on looking at the circumstances of Oldco’s 2012 UEFA licence.
Admin error or imperfect but legal?
The facts are all out there, it’s a 5 minute job.
Those responsible should be having sleepless nights. The application was fraudulent, this we know.
Everyone knows. Fraud is a serious criminal offence.
On completion of his investigation the Compliance Officer should be calling in Police Scotland, not reporting back to Regan.
If anyone amongst our football authorities knew from the start of the circumstances surrounding the licence application Scottish football will be rocked to the core.
Regan’s last public statement that the wee tax bill had not crystallised at the appropriate UEFA cut off date was a lie then and since then through testimony at Whyte’s trial was shown to be exactly that.
He has not retracted that statement. What does that tell us?
I have an email from Broadfoot going back a few years clearly stating that the licence compkied fully with UEFA regulations, another lie.
Was/is the extent of SFA’s checking procedures that the application is signed and dated and if the applicant has answered NO to the question ‘do you have any outstanding social taxes’ then thats the end of it as far as the SFA is concerned?
Ref-help for the penalty, but that’s fairly standard for both halves of what used to be the Old Firm.
If Celtic want more competition (and they say they do) they will have to co-operate with the rest of Scottish football for a more equitable distribution of income. Or get lost.
And this would be the ideal solution – beat it down south (if they ever relent)and prop up the English Moneybags League. Then, with Sevco hopefully finally liquidated (Phil Made-up Surname keeps raising our hopes on this point only for them to be dashed) the rest of us can enjoy a decent competitive league with the tedious Ranjurs an Sellick narrative only an unpleasant memory
Oh dear.
You’re not having a good day…
Please explain, old boy. I’ve actually had rather a good day. What is your point?
Do you have a particular interest regarding Scottish football , if so ,please declare it in. Who is “us”.
Or is everything about you random.
that’s a great idea. Celtic have 6ok every 2nd week, qualify for the CL, have good sponsorship deals and this nugget wants then to share that money with clubs who fail to qualify, with fans who don’t fill stadiums and don’t have good sponsorship deals.
I don’t remember anyone saying this when Rangers paid 12million for Flo, the 5million plus for Gascoigne, Boli, Laudrup, Hately…they were making Scottish football better, raising the profile.
It is not Celtic’s role in Scotland to continually carry the country, to finance the wee teams who depend on those 2 home games to get through the season. Celtic fans, directors, shareholders put the club where it is now, the backed the club when it was needed and now we are in a position to bring in a top manager, better players but you want us to lower our standards so it can be more competitive….maybe you will read this and realise what a stupid statement this is.
No pun intended but your comments are right on the money.Aldo,
Much of the media talk today was of the controversial penalty and the sending off (quelle surprise!) I would agree that Celtic benefitted from a poor refereeing decision but how many times have we been victims of “honest mistakes”? I would reckon that it would take about 100 years to address the balance!
Sinclair went down easily, although there was a tug by the Motherwell player, which makes it a penalty according to the rules. Additionally, Kipre should not have even been on the park at that stage after his tackle on Dembele in the first half.
Yet Dembele stayed on despite an equally horrendous tackle. Green tinted specs abound.
These are our good old days. I’m even coming to like Hampden. It doesn’t matter who manages the new Rangers we are in control of our own destiny .Lets savour this and leave them to stagnate in mediocrity.
Great today – agree the penalty was soft but we were great on the ball HH on to 7 iar
Why all the talk about sevco all the time ? Other sides like Aberdeen need more attention as far as competition. They are a busted flush, who have now been shown that really no bugger else cares about. I honestly think that the rest if the league has had a taste of life without this lot and saw the benefits of life on and off field. Let them implode I say and just report when the body is buried AGAIN …..
Aye, but Sevco are funnier.
McLeish would give us a barrel of laughs no doubt but i would much prefer to see kenny miller in the hotseat and kevin thomson as his assistant just for the LOL’s. Get it sorted Santa ) HH
Is it not the case
Mcleish, has been tarting himself for every high profile job out there. Fact is, he is not high profile and never will be.They are welcome to him. I think we should sign Moult in January. That lad was on the end of three good chances today, in a team that was not attack minded. Dembele apart from the penalty, flattered to deceive, and was relatively ineffective. Poor penalty decision and ordering off, spoilt the game somewhat. However a good day, and happy to accept an “honest mistake”, as no doubt there will be many in the coming months, that dont go our way. The league Cup in the bag, the League as good as won, only the Scottish Cup for back to back trebles. Only a lack of composure, and a dip in confidence can prevent this. Well done all at Glasgow Celtic, you have made us truly proud.
PMSL
Cheating horse dropped dead
Replacement mule can only look on
Hail Hail
Celtic Beauty won the 15:00 sponsored by Bet Fred under the floodlights today
Less a mule than a very wonky donkey…….
I really think it best for All if the vet visited that poor animal and ‘humanely’
dispatched it.
After all,it seems that there is no real quality of life, the knackers yard is calling.
Sevco can then sell the glue from the bones, most probably,to their now clubless fans.
So it WIN,WIN,WIN all round inc.,the Treble HH? Schadenfreude Ya Bamsticks
There was some talk of Tony Adams taking over the reins of the Sevco donkey. Eee Halways is good for a mention in times of impoverishment. I think, however, he may be too decent to straddle the nag that was ridden by John Brown. It seems the peeple from the tumbledown dome have indicated that the appointment of Adams(not Gerry) would be the last straw. Yet why can they wallow in undyingbelief of entitlement.
Perhaps a car boot sale of brown shoes and other loyal brick a brac would help patch the leaking barn that is Ibrox. Then whatever change is left over could be dangled in front of manager chap.
I hope and pray its McLeish….
As for today…
I thought Boyata was outstanding…he strolled it.
‘Mon The Hoops
Are you serious?!
He hardly won a header all day, which is his main job!
If we want to progress, especially in Europe, then we need better than Boyata and Simunovic.
If the latter could stay fit for more than a fortnight then we might see what his real potential could be.
We seriously need two new centre backs in January with the Champions’ League qualifiers for next season in mind.
Remember there is no champions’ route next season so it is going to be a hell of a lot harder to make the group stages with our current back four!
.
Very serious…
Have a good day.
That’s not true. The champions route remains but one less team can make it this route and there is one more qualifying round for the Scottish champions.
totally agree they can only rely on youngsters now more money for Celtic lot of us saying now not giving a toss bout servo anymore what would McLeish do there heading administration again can see it coming
