I have stated here before that the likeable Portuguese chap might have had a special allure for the Sevco High Command during the interview process.
Perhaps Pedro, by the situation of his employment in the Persian Gulf, had conjured up a beguiling prospect for the Blue Room chaps.
I can easily imagine that, within the rarefied atmosphere of such a dignified conclave, that they thought that the Al-Gharafa boss might know some big hitters.
The idea of landing a manager who could also bring in life-saving investment from Qatar does explain why the Sevco High Command hired Pedro instead of, say, Tommy Wright.
Of course, an infusion of many millions from the Middle East is exactly what transformed Citeh into the Noisy Neighbours of Manchester.
Therefore, I can see how this tantalising possibility was planted in some Quintessentially British heads inside the Blue Room.
Sadly, like tales of Eldorado, the allure of Middle Eastern riches have proved a cruel mirage at Ibrox.
For the avoidance of doubt, I am not suggesting for a second that Poor Pedro in any way duped the Sevco High Command.
Rather, I think they believed what they desperately wanted to be the case.
It is worth noting that Mr David Cunningham King had no hand, act or part in hiring Pedro.
A cynic might conclude that after…ahem… the resignation of the Admirable Warburton he didn’t want his fingerprints on the next car crash.
After all, Mr King’s fingerprints are on record.

Last night the Dandies were victorious at the stadium John Brown played for.
Aberdeen had not won there since 1991, and therefore that was the first time they had ever beaten Sevco at Ibrox.
The consensus of the match reports was that the Dons were worthy winners.
Indeed, it was suggested that the 2-1 scoreline could have been greater if it had not been for the efforts of Wes Foderingham in goal for the Engine Room Subsidiary.
The appalling vista now for The People is that they have a very likeable incompetent in the home dugout at Ibrox.
That isn’t Pedro’s fault.
I hope he eventually emerges from his Sevco sojourn relatively unscathed by the experience.
He does seem to be rather bemused by his surroundings at times.
Moreover, his charges also seem bemused about what he wants them to do on the playing field.
When Pedro does end his time at Sevco, I hope he can put out of his mind the time when he was toiling for a crowd that chanted how they hated Roman Catholics.

Pedro deserves better.
For the avoidance of doubt, The People do not.
Well done to the Dons.
The second best team in Scotland.
Sevco aren’t even close.

It’s obvious that the Blue Room had a cunning plan in bringing Caixinho in and that was to lure the big money men in the Gulf to follow, follow and shower their billions on the Ibrox shower. No such luck. They had to roll up the prayer mats and return to the drawing board. Sad!
Ha ha arse
Can you tell me what is happening regarding them playing g Europe this year? I was under the impression that they wouldn’t get a licence but now BBC and others are reporting they have qualified for a UEFA spot.
Will they be allowed to compete?
Anyone?
It could be my imagination but the MSM reporting to the Aberdeen Ibrox victory seemed to focus on the fact that they’d not won at Ibrox since 1991 rather than not haven beaten Rangers at Ibrox since 1991.
The wording says to me that the continuation myth might not be allowed to continue much longer.
Here’s hope.
Rangers (54*)
Celtic 48
Sevco 0
*Several Tainted
Phil – this might make you chuckle. Level 5 productions has gone into overdrive with this monumental moonbeam in the coiffed one’s favourite newspaper:
Dave King vows to invest all Rangers season ticket cash in squad and thanks fans
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rangers-chairman-dave-king-vows-10448922#ICID=ios_DailyRecordNewsApp_AppShare_Click_MailShare
Level 5 has went up to Level 50 with that one! Wonder how the wage bill of all the staff, not just the players and coaches, is going to be met? Not to mention maintenance, stewarding, policing, etc. Perhaps those money raising ideas (from one of the many nutty Sevco supporter sites) which were displayed on Etims during the week are coming to fruition. If you haven’t seen these, please take a couple of minutes to check them out. Much guffawing is guaranteed.
However cerebrally challenged we think the average Sevconian is, surely the above is a step too far even for the thickest monkey impersonator.
Same scrolling issue on OS X using Safari, Chrome and Firefox
Disabling Javascript and reloading re-enables scrolling so I think it is an issue with the content protection scheme. (Mac/Safari)
Thanks Michael
phil you probably seeing spike in traffice, as folks reload page repeatedly to try to read it. which looks good – but hides issue and site broken.
IE, Chrome both fail for me – firefox ok – so i read each page 3 times – to read it in full once.
better testing needed :0
Dave king 35,000 season ticket renewal spin ( once 20,000 backlog sorted 🙂 – so they can process 35000 or is there backlog due to banking issue?
easy way much simpler.
Pardon my ignorance …. but are they not the people ?
At first I had sympathy for Pedro the boatbuilder. (Old joke). Everybody and their granny see him as nice guy. Unfortunately he seems to be regurgitating the same keech that Warby used to do. Clearly the words of that highly ” revered and admired” spin doctor, the bald, fat, untalented Jabba Traynor.
When Pedro goes, as he no doubt will , two nice professionals will have had their careers and and ambitions toxified by the influence of this odious toad.
Phil – this has been the case for a few of your recent posts. When viewing this on a standard PC, on Chrome, I can no longer scroll up and down the page. Has something changed recently ?
I’m told it’s a coding issue.
My tech lad will fix it over the next day or so.
Apologies for the inconvenience.
It is scrolling fine fro me on the Opera browser.
Same on OS X with Safari, Chrome and Firefox
Having the same problem. But if you go back and then press the article again it seems to clear it up.
Hahaha – Peter Sellers in Being There – You nailed it Aileen.
Maybe Pedro will utter his immortal line – “I like to watch” 🙂
Every time he speaks I am reminded of Peter Sellers in Being There.
Sevco: The mouse that roared.
More like Dr Strangelove …
Lunatics running the asylum, commanders riding the rocket into Total Annihilation and spasmodic Nazi salutes …
This movie was made for them.
Spooky or what…I was thinking that..any You Tube clips that may emphasise the point but at the same time be gentle on likeable Pedro….I haven’t watched Being There…I’ll have a gander…
He reminds me of willie in the ant hill mob , it might not be to long before we hear ” okay guys make way wid da feet “
