The pain of reality for Sevco’s clientele

In the aftermath of the Scottish Cup semi-final yesterday it appears that many of The People still have some ways to travel towards fully embracing reality.

Of course, facing up to the facts on the ground will be difficult to endure.

At the moment, many of them still cling to their comforting collective delusion.

Consequently, a famous quote from Carl Jung seems apposite:

“There is no coming to consciousness without pain. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own Soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” ― C.G. Jung.

The reality is that the home crowd at Ibrox are now following the Espanyol of Glasgow.

Best case scenario is that they cause the occasional cup upset or catch their larger rivals on an off-day.

For the avoidance of doubt, that is as good as it will get.

In every department, both off the field and on the pitch, Celtic operates on a much higher level.

Of course, the local media also operate at a high-Level and they will do their obedient best to soothe The People.

Since Charles of Normandy created the new entity from the body parts of Rangers the utility function of Sevco has been as a gathering point for the über-Brits of Ibrox.

Two years after Rangers died Glasgow voted to leave the United Kingdom.

That doesn’t really sit well with the “Quintessentially British” club.

All supporters of all clubs want their team to be successful.

However, if you are thirled to a Herrenvolk belief system then it is absolutely essential.

If it takes tax evasion and Honest Mistakes then so be it.

The British Empire didn’t control the sea lanes of the planet throughout the 19th century by being nice.

It was very much a case of Britannia waives the rules.

Any group of football fans who fondly remember in song a self-declared Fascist and member of the KKK must be partial to a bit of supremacism.

Now we have the amusing vista of the billy boys coming to terms with a world that is unfolding in a way that is the stuff of their dignified nightmares.

The club formed by Irish immigrants now strides Scottish football like a green and white colossus.

No one comes close.

No one at all.

For a subculture defined by anti-Irish racism, these must be painful times.

Still, their grandchildren will be almost certainly more enlightened and just might be also citizens of a Scottish Republic.

  1. Some differences between Espanol and Sevco Rangers

    Espanol: Founded in 1900
    Sevco: Founded in 2012

Espanol: Founding member of La Liga in 1928
Sevco: Last club to join the Scottish leaugue

    Espanol: Seasons in Europe, 7
    Sevco: Season in Europe, 0

    Espanol: Copa Del Rey, 4
    Sevco: Scottish Sup: 0

Espanol is more like Partick Thislte.

Although, Espanol does have a woman’s team, which is a much better match.

  2. A lovely wee typo made me chuckle. “…to sooth the People”. If any of the media would provide sooth to the People, that would be a milestone!

  3. Wait till the fans start walking away, when iBroke has only 10,000 people say there then they will be gone forever.

Out of the Uefa cup in the 1st round ( or not allowed in ) and 4th in the League next year and that’ll be it.

  4. To give you an inkling of how the klan operate I’ll tell you what an associate of mine who is a season ticket holder at Ibrox told me what happened to him when he confronted those who engage in their songs of hate, he was threatened with assault and verbally abused in the most disgusting terms all because he tried to tell them that the billy boys was not on. A season ticket holder for decades and his location is in one of the more expensive places to be seated. That’s klan kulchur for you.

  6. The bigots in the stands may be facing unbearable change, but their bigger-brained brethren in the scottish establishment are still calling the shots and show little sign of moving along.

  7. Privy to two of the klan having an exchange on the state of the union. If Scotland left the union , I would leave Scotland for England , I was born under a union jack ,and I will always live under one…..There was a pause here ,not sure if it was contemplation or a hesitancy to continue. Would they no huv tae change the flag….Whit…. It widnae be the union ,would they no huv tae change the flag….Nae chance ,the union,s the union ,their no changing it Scotland,s changing it , so they don’t need tae change nuffin. They never let you down , as an aside , the result on Sunday was entirely due to Pedro ra Portugese p@pe. Quality as per.

    • Another good reason for aiming for independence.
Imagine the Klan moving dahn saff to join the racists and bigots there. What a great spin-off.
Just think seriously about that. Peace, perfect peace.
Can we vote on this as well?

  9. Why do you call them the Espanyol of Glasgow? Surely they are the Sabadell of Glasgow as they are also well behind the 2 top teams in their respective countries.

    • Poor Espanyol….. being named in the same sentence as that shower of shite. Personally I prefer titles like Charles Green’s ( or Mary Shelly’s) Rangers, Soft Loans FC, Deidco etc …. can’t wait til they are known as Third Rangers though!

  10. Hi Phil,

IF their nightmares are indeed ‘dignified’ it’s the only thing that’s anywhere near dignified about their support or the remnants of their dead club.

Well done Pedro for showing a wee bit class in genuinely congratulating Our Beloved And Glorious Leader,Sir Brendan Rodgers,OBE,CBE,GCVO,KVCO,….MFI&BQ,just tae complete it.

Not quite so sure the Klan members looked at it in the same light.!!! Teehee???

Pedros’ post match masterclass in The Tommy Cooper Higher Class Glass Football Tactics left us in absolutely NO doubt whatsoever that Sir Brendan will lead us to The Ten.

God Save Sir Brendan Rodgers, etc etc….you can add your own letters or,indeed hardware stores,I did.

    HH?✅??

  11. They are a dying breed Phil. What they cling to is lost in the depths of the dark ages. Their inability to move with the times will be their ultimate downfall. If you cannot embrace change, nothing changes. They are the proverbial dung pile of the footballing world and we all know what hovers around a pile like that.

Their time to pass will come again. Last time, they had a slim shot at redemption. They chose not to take that chance, but to instead re-incarnate themselves as something even more vile than the previous incarnation. Redemption will not be forthcoming this time around. The vultures are circling the rotting carcass that is Ibrox, when they strike, there won’t be enough remaining to piece together like Frankenstein’s monster.

  12. Having been brought up on tales of the Irish struggle for independence with family on both my mother and father’s side involved in Limerick and Longford respectively I saw no contradiction in supporting that which Ireland has for the country of my birth, Scotland. I have only travelled on my Irish passport for nearly 30 years now, letting the Brit one expire. I long for the establishment of a Republic of Scotland and will apply for a passport for this independent nation at the first opportunity God willing. The day that there are only three senior football clubs within the boundary of Glasgow is another scenario also sincerely wished for. Oh for the demise of that new club now playing out of a stadium near Govan.
