An expensive document and unkicked doors

Regular readers will know that I said that General Ashley would play a long game against the Sevco High Command.
After the Off Licence Putsch in March 2015, it was difficult to get that message out above the noise level from the stenographers.
There were wild scenes of jubilation at the sports desks when Mr King ousted the old board two years ago.

However, the Sports Direct chap realised that he would have to wait his time before he could make the usurpers suffer.
One scenario that was put to me today by a very well-placed source was that the Take Over Panel had handed General Ashley an opportunity for a decisive counter attack.
My guy in Shirebrook stated that it would not surprise him if Big Mike nonchalantly asked Mr King for a share prospectus.
The ideal timing would be the first week in April as the clock was ticking down on the deadline set by the Take Over Panel.
This would mean that the South African-based entrepreneur would have to source a financial adviser to put the document together.
He would also have to lodge over £14m in an escrow account.
At the end of all of this, the Sports Direct magnate might decide not to take up Dave on his generous offer.
However, but just asking for the share prospectus, he would be giving Mr David Cunningham King yet another financial headache.
All part of the long game.
For the avoidance of doubt, my guy told me that the doors in Shirebrook remain on their hinges and un-kicked.

  1. They’re calling loans ‘income’ to get around the fact it’s a debt and breaking Financial Fair Play further. Given financial professionals are all over this amateurish desperation, the SFA surely cannot blithely accept these fantasy accounts.

  2. Dear Dear,
Surely the courteous and professional manner in which Mr King and his fellow investers have dealt with Mr Ashley and his associates would deter any such action. After all, they’re all part of the big Rangers Family.

  3. Knocking up a prospectus in double quick time? What’s the problem given the speed, accuracy and anonimity in producing such fine (!) non audited six monthly accounts ending December 2016.

Caw the handle and out it comes….fit for (all) purposes.

  4. Have they really treated the £2.9m loan as income…is this part of the £5m or thereabouts increase in revenue from the comparative period in the previous financial year?
Now there are excuses for Chris Graham, who as far as I’m aware is not a member of that fine body of Scottish CA’S, unlike Mr King who is a fully paid up member although it would appear that ICAS are unable to find his membership details…..they really need to get their admin in order!
