Sevco reaches peak shambles

I was very surprised when Mark Warburton resigned last night and, in fairness, so was he.

The dysfunction in the Sevco High Command has now reached peak shambles.

My information was that yesterday evening Mark Warburton still thought he had a job with the Engine Room Subsidiary.

Just after 9.00pm, his phone rang, and it was a friend telling him to turn on Sky News.

I believe that he then tried to get in touch with Stewart Robertson, but he couldn’t  as his phone was engaged.

The reason for this was that he was being called by some Sevco directors wanted to know what was going on as well!

There had been and fair and frank exchange of views at the regular meeting of the Sevco High Command that day.

I’m told that the Admirable Warburton stoutly defended his performance as manager.

I believe that he pointed out what he had achieved and compared his record to his highly paid gardening predecessor.

One director in particular, who is known for his keen interest musicology, pressed the issue that the ex-City trader had seriously underperformed.

I understand that in the meeting the ex-Brentford boss defended his managerial record and said if the club wanted to pay him off they could do that.

However, I’m told that the ex-City trader then observed that he knew that the money wasn’t available to compensate him.

After the meeting, the Admirable Warburton then attended to his duties.

He attended a presser then took a tactical session with the squad and liaised with the medical team.

This is hardly the behaviour of someone who had just tendered his resignation.

My information was that after the regular meeting several directors went into a hastily arranged conclave with Mr David Cunningham King attending telephonically.

It is my understanding that the decision to push the issue was taken within that impromptu meeting.

My information is that the initial statement was rushed up onto the Holding Company Vehicle’s website by a young unpaid PR guru (peace be upon him).

I understand that he believed that he had been authorised to do so.

The statement today from the RIFC Chairman appears to have been complied at a higher-Level.

What now?

Will the Admirable Warburton turn up to his place of employment tomorrow?

If he does will he prevented from doing so?

Peak shambles…

If he’s now described as a RRM, it must have been a late conversion.

How often has he been photographed at Ibrox or interviewd about his chilhood memories of Rainjurz games?

or does that only happen down £1brox way ?

  5. McCleish (the RRM) to save them eh!, not only have they short memories (forgetting that their club died in 2012), but also forgot how bad he was when he was almost sacked half way through the 2006 season at that other Ibrokes club, for ‘having the worse run in their history’ and that’s with a club with over 100 years of history (allegedly) so just imagine how bad that had to’ve been… Google it man, #McCleishleavesrangers# . Hell, he was replaced by Paul le Penguin, says it all…

So there you have the Rangers manager stating that there definitely was sporting advantage, should EBTs be upheld as unlawful next month.

  10. Warburton had no option – whatever way you slice it. It’s clear Sevco had run out of dough – and even though Mark had proved himself, he just couldn’t rise to the challenge. And he wouldn’t butter the bosses up.

But everything was spread too thin. There was No meat in the sandwich. Margarine – not butter.

It goes against the grain to say it, but he demonstrated he just wasn’t oven-ready – but then – he was up against the flour of Scotland’s fitba teams.

If he’d used his loaf, he’d have had more buns in his ovens, and wouldn’t just roll over.

But his players were a pretty bad batch – some of them too fond of crumpet – and others always on the batter. Some were brown, some were white – but most were shite.

It wasn’t just the (world-class) breakfast – it was the whole meal they overindulged in -and far too many pies – or so Bridie tells me.

In the end King put his gas at a peep – and it all fell flat for Warbs. They just didn’t knead him anymore.

He knew he was toast – pan bread – yeast-erday’s man – with bread-knife in his back.

    Now he’s scone.

Whit a shower o’ Paris Buns.

But don’t flap Jack – I suspect the Warbs will make a meal of it in the next court diet.

  11. Is it any wonder that the Ibrox club can’t attract investors or sponsors?

Who would want to associate themselves with the chancers running the show.

King is still looking for a Nomad, even then a share issue is far off with various court cases in the offing, and another one, or employment tribunal, on the way.
It’s nothing short of amazing that the media and the fans have turned full circle in their opinions of The Hat, once referred to as Magic.
A tactical genius, playing Barcelona type football and hotly tipped to be a future England manager.
Where did it all go wrong?
If the former management team are not subject to a gagging order then they are in a position to reveal some juicy titbits that Kingco would prefer not to see the light of day.
The Hat’s bonus from last season, who signed Joey, the reality of the financial situation, his disappearing act after the Cup Final and much, much more.
Just as well that King is based in South Africa, otherwise he too would be feeling the heat.

  14. Let us not forget the generosity of Mr King in making £18m already invested in his club, with more to come.

No challenges from the press. Their behaviour confirms a level of corrupt behaviour.

As James Forrest so succintly puts it, Mr King may as well have said he has invested £50m….£100m invested….the Scottish press would have printed it without blinking an eye.

I doubt Mr Warburton will be troubling the visitscotland website when planning any future holiday. I wish him well.

  15. Is it merely co-incidence Billy Davies’ last two management jobs were at Nottingham Forrest?

A wee do us a favour and work for your manager’s position at TRFC Billy?

Could the whole NF contact to Warby have been a pre-conceived setup? With no intention of giving him the manager role but to edge him into leaving Sevco discussions?

How many managers did NF speak to? Surely not solely Warburton? If so, it looks really dodgy.

Sevco desperately needed a club to approach Warburton. NF were too timely to be true. Did Billy Davies fix it up for a nod of the Ibrox dugout?

If Davies gets the gig is it pointing to his dabs all over it?

I could imagine a Director resigning over last nights shambles. No longer being able to link his integrity with this farce.

  18. As you predicted Phil , a Huge character assassination on the Warbs now follows.
The statement from King , a prolific liar , is fair to say unconvincing. With the PR at his disposal you would have thought any such statement would have been more precise , factual and just generally believable. A good liar he is not.
Suppose he has to use primary 5 grammer to speak to ‘ the people’.
Doesn’t sound as though any signed resignation will be produced.
    It truly is comedy gold.

On a slightly unrelated matter , Partizan Belgrade have just been banned from all European competitiion because of unpaid bills and failing to meet FFP rules 3 years out of 5

.A statement from the UEFA club financial control body read:

“FK Partizan will be excluded from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which it would otherwise qualify during the next three seasons (ie. the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons).

“This decision was taken after FK Partizan failed to comply with the articles 65(1), 66(1) and 66bis(1) of the UEFA club licensing and financial fair play regulations.”

The articles refer to unpaid monies towards football clubs, employees and social or tax authorities.

Partizan owe £2.17m, mostly to social and tax authorities in Serbia and they have broken UEFA’s club licensing and financial fair play regulations three times in the past five years.

More good news coming down the pipe to King ?

Hope you haven’t just lost a good source in the Blue room .

    • Joecon,
You, of course, could be correct, however, don’t overestimate DK stupidity conflated with arrogance and the WATP mentality.
This is the same man who invited White and Sky Sports to view his wine cellar, only for it to be confiscated a few days later.

Not the brightest thing to do. Like many entrepreneurs DK is a conman rather than particularly well educated. Many of his moves are not well thought out.

His statement says the resignations was accepted with immediate effect on Monday, but Wrabs and company worked till the Friday. Bizarre.
Secondary, the agent is a third party. Does he have the authority to tender their resignation? I doubt it. As I understand it, if it is not in writing, then the employer is leaving himself open to litigation and an employment tribunal.
DK saw an opportunity for his club to walk away, so he thinks, from £1.2M pay off. I can only see litigation coming out of this.
I caught Stuart Weir of the Herald on TS early this morning and I have never heard such a load of Level 5 PR nonesense from him. He is bad. SMSM would have us believe that Barton was sacked and walked away either with nothing or with a much reduced pay out. Sadly, for them, the FA released a statement that the SFA had underwritten Bartons full contract of Sevco fail to meet it and in exchange the FA would accept JB registration with Burnley. They even make the same claims nowadays, even tho the FA have blown that one apart.

So bad that it is risible. As many on hear will know and as Phil has stated many times take SMSM with more than a pinch of salt, try a vat of humongous dimensions.

Having read it myself. It sounds like King is putting all the blame on Warburton and saying it was his decision to bring in the likes of Barton and other highly paid players.
He has also claimed that Sevco have spent £18 million of the £30 million they forecast.

Maybe not so much when Mike skelps him for £4-5m next month. The big hoos might be closing after that.

Is this the end game, a convenient route out blaming others, it seems to be part of his MO (deflect, lie, blame) so far.. And of course he lost his £20m and now another £18m, no laughing at the back.!

I always felt sorry for Warburton and that stems from him not being a real Ranjurs man.
He took a chance in coming to Sevco and it backfired. Now the media are roasting him whereas before he was lauded for a manager’s job in the EPL.

Who in their right mind would now want to manage this toxic entity?

  24. The Guardian sums it up best:

“Rangers remain a dysfunctional club, far removed from King’s promises. The chaos of Warburton’s departure highlight that much, as does an interminable boardroom spat with Mike Ashley which will rumble back into court next month. Director and investor loans are propping up a business that has lost £11m in two accounting periods. Auditor warnings accompany those returns. Club bulletins are routinely reserved for vehemently defending the integrity of supporters – that crucial revenue stream.”

  25. Just when you thought this pantomime couldn’t get any funnier … I imagine that if Warbs turns up for work there will be an interesting stand-off. Unless the high command can provide evidence that he has indeed “resigned” then surely he must be allowed to go about his business as usual ie guiding sevco through another dismal 90 mins. If not, and he is prohibited from carrying out his duties then this is effectively a dismissal and could end up in an employment tribunal – yet another unwelcome court date for the club/company/basket of assets.

    Great entertainment.

I see there are calls for the return of Walter. Of course, he can’t return as he has never managed this club. In fact, he wished the new rangers all the very best at the inception stage. Eck has also entered the frame. However, he recently admitted that the old club cheated to prevent falling behind Celtic.

The phone ins are full of calls for “real ranjurz men” to take charge. I believe that super ally was one of those. His record speaks for itself.

Yes,I heard within minutes of the story being made public, then I also added to that news-wave,sunami-like,by texting and emailing all contacts in my phone whom I thought would take pleasure from it.

A kind of T-1 scenario when Spud is being interviewed for a job he does NOT WANT….he says, when asked,’What is it Mr.Murphy that attracts you to the travel industry?’

His reply is ‘I,me that is,I,take pleasure,in other people’s leisure’
An excellent retort, that serves it purpose,as he then proceeds to feq the interview up totally by bouncing up to the table, kissing the woman behind the desk, and vigorously shaking the hands of both men.
    Simply,cinematic par excellence.

I do have contacts on my phone that would NOT have taken pleasure in such news, and I simply could NOT be that cruel.

This can only add to their woes,if,and they probably will, contest this downright despicable act,by a board led by the convicted fraudster.Court cases abound!!!

So,so sad,but really funny all the same.

Imagine sacking a man on absolutely no grounds other than he was unable to perform miracles. He maybe have had a few extra quid to spend than the rest of the pack but not much more, certainly not enough to even think about catching Celtic. And with Dave King putting out that statement today what manager in their right mind would go sevco now. They won’t give you any money to spend. But expect you to be challenging Celtic for the title and when they get fed up with you they will sack you using every backhanded way they can! An absolute joke of a club a fkin laughing stock. Their fans will rally round again and support King an co and long may it continue.

Btw 18 million spent already lmfao and they kept it to themselves, it just got dragged out of them today… But are ready to give the daily rag an exclusive when they supposedly making a £500.000 bit on some random player they pull out of the hat in the January transfer market.
