Brown brogues and clown shoes

Perhaps we have reached the teachable moment with The People.

In the aftermath of the Tynecastle battering, it might have become apparent that this was going to be life after the split.

Here is the top 5 mini league.

SPFL Mini League

Hat tip to @AgentScotland

A Maroon buddy of mine who was at the match said it was 4-1 going on several more.

Even allowing for his tinted eyewear, I haven’t seen any reports that said the Hearts were not worthy winners or that the scoreline flattered the Jambos.

Next up Sevco has Ross County at home.

No disrespect to the Staggies, but they’re 8th in the league on 23 points with a goal difference of minus 15.

Therefore, the mighty Glasgow Sevco should prevail.

However, life after the split will be much tougher for the Engine Room Subsidiary.

Moreover, I suspect that some of The People already are starting to realise that.

By defeating Celtic last April at Hampden, the Sevco High Command were handed a massive opportunity to play their customer base.

The stenographers weren’t found wanting and gleefully seized on the evidence of that day to proclaim that “Rangers are back!”

Throughout last summer The People were deluged in a tsunami of Panglossian pish about “going for 55”.

That marketing slogan encapsulated the entire problem for Sevco:

  • Pretending to be Rangers
  • Thinking that they are credible rivals to the biggest club in Scotland.

It was a chimera only made possible by Heated Driveway Productions of Kerrydale Street.

However, the dignified celebrations by the Sevco High Command at Hampden on Sunday 17th April 2016 was a watershed.

Let’s just say that they pissed off the wrong Irish billionaire.

Ten months on Brendan Rodgers is in total command of all football matters at Celtic.

Since that day last April, the Parkhead club has been at Hampden twice and won both matches.

Only the margin of victory in the SPFL title ‘race’ is now up for debate.

If the Penny Arcade is dropping for some of The People, then a scapegoat has to be found.

The Admirable Warburton is a readymade patsy.

Facing the sack is an occupational hazard for football managers.

Moreover, when the pressure is on, they can come up with all manner of excuses for bad performances and poor results.

Even the modern footballer can conjure up a creative euphemism in a presser now and again.

James Tavernier

The “speed bump” at Tynecastle was actually a warning sign that the feelgood narrative that has been fed to The People had finally run out of road.

I think it is fair to say that the media campaign to push the Admirable Warburton out of the door is now in full swing.

Warchest 1

Already the narrative that there IS a transfer budget available in the summer has appeared in the Daily Radar today.

Warchest 2

Therefore the Sevco High Command have funds; it’s just that they don’t trust the manager with them.

The reality is more fraught.

Only basic payroll was met in January, and that was down to the largess of two directors.

There is not the finance available inside the Holding Company Vehicle to pay off the current management team.

Therefore, it would be.”handy if the Admirable Warburton did the decent thing and Did Walking Away.

The new chap, should there be one, will not have any more resources than the ex-City trader had.

The narrative here has been consistent.

Sevco is a loss making business without a credit line from a bank.

The Off License Putsch in March 2015 was an underfunded hostile takeover.

Everything about that power grab was built on the trustworthiness of a man slammed by a judge as a “glib and shameless liar”.

Mr David Cunningham King can walk away from this car crash with a tidy payoff, but the directors who stumped up for payroll last month are on the hook. They have assets in the UK, and therefore, they’re exposed.

Quite simply there is a cash crisis at Sevco, and it isn’t likely to get better at any time soon.

Of course, expect to see Off The Radar hints that funds are available in the summer.

The objective of that obedient stenography will be to get The People to roll up again to pay into the Ibrox Big Top to see the Sevco freak show.

The financial high wire act will certainly conjure up some thrills and spills.

However, if they’re looking for the clowns inside the stadium that John Brown played for, then they should go to the toilet and find a mirror.

The scented candles there might combat the stench of fear that is currently emanating from the dignified end.

  1. Phil,
The “Heated Driveway” nonsense has got to stop. Did Peter Lawell run over your cat or something as its got personal now with no obvious factual basis. The club, the board (including the chairman, cheif executive and our major shareholder) ALL approved a youth development based experiment with Ronnie Deila in a period where there was no direct rival in the league. While it failed in terms of building a progressive and ongoing development model, it managed to maintain the league title run and allowed a significant operating profit to be established, although the football was crap with no obvious improvement in sight and european perfomances were dire. Celtic could only afford Brendan Rodgers and his management team with the direct support of the largest shareholder and this scale of management appointment wasnt available to Heated Driveways or the Board previously due to its financial largesse. Please get with the movement Phil, why do you think we ve developed so strongly financially and commercially and are now light years ahead – open your eyes to the massive benefit of the commercial expertise we have within the club alongside an equivalent football management expertise now.

    Play it fair please, Phil.

  2. Play Griffiths tomorrow and Celtic go 27 points clear tomorrow.
Ryan Christie makes Aberdeen’s first goal and scores the second.
What a sickener for Sevco. A Celtic player pumping them into third.

Thank goodness they kept the man with the magic hat rather that the battle hardened championship promotion winning/premier league player Barton.

To saw someone at sevci is clueless is an understatement

  4. The concept that if you have the second highest budget then you should come second is terribly naive.

After all, Sevco were advertising going for 55 with a fraction of Celtic’s budget. So that logic of placing = budget size was conveniently forgotten pre season.

Fact is Sevco are in a full time clubs league for the first time in their short existence. To knock Warbs & Weir after a few months is ridiculous. These guys deserve a full season to see what they do. Talk of replacing them in the first season challenging top tier teams is ill advised, bad Board leadership and knee jerk short termism.

Judge them at end of season ffs and try and run RIFC PLC with some steadfastness rather than SMSM jittery drama.

Indeed if they come third or fourth they have done well and should be given another season to improve on that. King’s demands are unreasonable and given his own contribution a damn sight out of order.

  5. 1-1 at the Crumbledome vs Ross County.

I bet the Warbler’s regretting his repeated, some might say ‘lunatic’, babble about being in the 2nd prize place already, now that they’ve slipped to third.

Talk about asking for trouble …

  7. Have any of your other readers noticed the similarities between the reporting of Bowling Green Massacre that never happened and the reporting of the pitch invasion at the Scottish Cup Final last year when TRIFC players were never attacked? Seems to me a disservice has been inflicted on the Scottish media with the concept of “Alternative Facts” being attributed to Trump’s counsellor, Kellyanne Conway when in fact it has its origin with sections of the MSSM. Should we start a petition to have this corrected?

Addendum: For readers who are not aware of the Bowling Green Massacre read here: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/feb/03/kellyanne-conway-refugees-bowling-green-massacre-never-happened

    • I think that’s the whole point. All the managers don’t have the training and competence to manage such lads.Football managers don’t do advanced man management training and competence assurance programmes.

      • I think every current single Celtic player would disagree with you there, Sergio.

Every member of our squad has shown massive improvement under Brendan Rodgers and for that we should be thankful.

Even Ajer is being hailed, and by the fans at that, as one of the best players to have ever pulled on a Killie shirt and the lad himself recently said that he learned more in 6 months under Brendan than he had previously learned in all his years of football combined.

Man management is but one of many strings to his bow and it has shown on the park all season, the odd Euro blip aside.

  8. Sevconians are in a state of confusion. The Warbs was asked :what went wrong! His reply “I don’t know”…then the magic man referred to getting beat 4-1 as just a loss of 3 points and no big worry as still in 2nd spot and aiming for European footie and big cash will pour into the mighty debt ridden dome. Unfortunately this is hurting the basic fan as they hate the idea of being gubbed 4-1 and 5-1 as it’s still only 3 points. Also stating that the 25 point gulf is not a worry because he always said winning the league and 55 a bit unrealistic. His take on it is if celtic beat us by 40 50 points it doesn’t affect our 2nd spot so no probs…the guy is getting hounded now fans shouting spitting at him in sheer rage….if the highlanders beat them tomorrow the Warbs better run out quickly before a pitch fork hits his head. Re peeeepul are not happy.

  9. For the avoidance of doubt. Anyone thinking that this is the same club, may I refer them to the Outer House of the Court of Session, Lord Brodie presiding in the case of MASH v SFA, under the heading The Credit Facility. Para 5 it states unambiguously,
The Rangers Football Club, Sevco Scotland, FORMED 2012.
The capitals of Formed are my own. Note it does not say reconstituted or any such nonesense. It is quite clear, as far as the law of the land is concerned this is A NEW CLUB.
5 Law Lords have confirmed that the club cannot be separated from the company, it is the company.

We all know that UEFA have stated in the letter to the solicitors of the shareholders in Res 12 have confirmed that TRFC are a new club.

It is simply risible that anyone, especially the SMSM persist with their verbal acrobatics to try to convince only the most dim witted that rfc did not in the words of LNS, paragraph 45 cease to exist.

If this is the case then the Players union should be involved.

  13. Why should Park and Taylor put in millions to prop up 78% of shares owned by others including 14.75% owned by King?

    Terribly unfair on them.

Ralson’s piece is a panic plea to get Mugs to keep paying and turning up. Brushing aside the £30m promise as merely unhelpful chitchat.

    An apologist for a liar.

Brendan Rodgers success lies in the fact CFC spends more on player purchases and salaries, with the biggest squad, than all other 11 teams put together. Deila had much less than Rodgers. Even a little bit more translates into a massive difference in the SPFL.

  14. You’re wasting your type.

    They are in eternal denial.

They will believe Gary L. 5. Ralston.

There will indeed be transfer funds in the summer. It’s called Season Ticket money. Ralston fails to say the transfer funds will be Directors private wealth going in.

Apparently that article says Park’s businesses are worth £500m. I’m presuming Gary is to business valuation what Keith J is to Barrie McKay player evaluation.

“Judge me on League position” says Warbler. Just a matter of time then.

I have screenshots of the SFL website listing Sevco as “The Rangers” in SFL League 3 during the summer of 2012. Mr Longmuir (RFC supporter) changed it to “Rangers” before season start. So it was nice to see them named properly on the table here.

On another note, I’ve come to the conclusion most football managers do not know how to manage young men. They are not properly management trained. They simply do what the managers did when they themselves were footballers. Perpetuating the wrong stuff. Trying to copy Fergie, when yes he achieved football results but he really was a shit Man manager and could have achieved even better results.

I’ve led/managed Men for 30 years. I managed 30 guys when I was 22 years old. I’ve managed thousands looking back. Tough operational jobs worldwide. I have a string of senior leadership and management post nominals and two degrees.

Different guys need to be managed differently. You cannot manage them all the same. Guys have different strengths and weaknesses, different personalities, some are quick to anger, some are juvenile and silly, premadonas, petulant, ….. creative types usually require positive feedback regularly that they are excellent and doing great and they need let loose off the reigns to get excited. Telling them they’ve stuffed up, need to be more disciplined and anchored isn’t the right approach.

Strikers are creative types. Neymar has been an extremely badly behaved guy. He’s a prancer show horse. Taking a stern discipline approach to turn him into a cart horse is all wrong. You embrace his characteristics not try and change him. His talent comes from who he is. Latin managers know this.

Lennon stuffed up with Tony Watt. Watt is the victim of ignorance in football man management, which is endemic in the sport.

I fear Brendan Rodgers is similarly stuffing up with Leigh Griffiths.

Let him tie a Celtic scarf to the Ibrox goalpost. Do NOT try and change him. His creative energies come from who he is. He is not Gordon, Lustig, Sviatchenko, Tierney, …. he is a very different guy. Embrace it. Do not destroy it with your wrong man management outdated received wisdom.

Strachan’s piece today lays bare his utter ignorance of man management techniques, psychology and Leadership. I despair for the Scotland squad after reading it. It is all the old pish. Harking back to big Ron ffs.I have great confidence in Cathro.

The Hearts Hipster Football shut up the SMSM. I like this Hipster football.

      • Why? What did Griffiths do that was illegal?

What reprimands did McCoist and RFC players get from police for inciting Celtic fans? Winning and doing the Celtic huddle as a gloat for instance. That’s more inciteful than tying a scarf.

The concept TRFC supporting police can make a disproportionate big issue out of so little that it results in CFC risking three points by not playing a talented striker is unthinkable. I trust Griffiths plays tomorrow and the incident is put behind him.
There are many punishments available before you issue a game ban.

  15. Perhaps in the run up to summer the Scottish media myrmidons will revive the RB Leipzig myth as the source of funds for TRIFC. The £6m will be scheduled to appear on the twelfth-of-never.

However, as the media pressure intensifies on Mark Warburton, I wonder if he would consider pursuing constructive dismissal? One of his witnesses might be Joey Barton who could inform an employment tribunal about the details of his medical condition while he was employed at iBrokes being leaked to the media. That scenario though, all depends on the outcome from the London High Court in March. Bring it on.

  16. Those who are stumping up to keep the lights on must be at the end of their tether, with grave reservations about ever seeing their hard earned cash again.
Yep there will be money in the summer, ST monies, but how the hell will they get through the next 4 months without further investment from the board, sorry that should read gifts.
Warburton has totally lost the plot and is making an eejit of himself every time he opens his mouth…….which he does a lot.
Finding a replacement who would be operating on the same financial level as The Hat and inheriting a squad composed of aged, injured and players who have been round the lower English leagues, will not be easy, unless they turn to a RRM currently operating at a lower level or unemployed.
Apart from taking Hyndman off because his hair was getting wet The Hat showed that The Magic was back as he cut Celtic’s 25 point lead to 10 in one sentence.
Quote…if Celtic had lost 4 games and Rangers had won one of the those that had been lost then yippee, 10 points it is. He actually said this!
The media should have been rolling about the floor laughing when he visited this thought upon them but there they were scribbling away or recording The Hat’s thoughts on tape.
In general the knives are out but The Hat is so arrogant and set in his ways that he thinks he’s doing a great job and shows no signs of walking……….where now for Kingco?

    • Warburton made a valid point regarding how things would have been different had Celtic lost four games, I would go further and say if The Rangers had won all their games then they would be top of the league and powering towards their birthright, the champions league. On the other hand, had Celtic lost all their games they would deservedly be staring relegation in the face. All down to fine margins. Warburton is doing a grand job, he should be left to get on with it.

We’re looking at the Sevco great fall surely, the perfect storm to render the Fakeco deid. All CC King’s stenographers and imperfect Hampen place men won’t be able to put dear old humpty Sevco back together again. It will be sweet justice for claiming to be the same club and the LNS sham. A same stench different shite club might appear to give the mindless horde something to follow follow through the lower tiers again, but it won’t be called Rangers.

What would have been the sacrifice required 1m plus giving up a fish supper for the night and buying the ship.
The fans sat by and no gnashing or wailing will bring it back one fish supper was the price from all and it would have been a Hearts, oh dear Hearts fans must be pishing themselves laughing at the instituion that let their club deal because they RRM sat and watched it happen and pointed the fingers as it slipped away without a lifebelt.

Ideally, they add, Walter Smith should be brought back to steady the ship to be steered by young Barry.

I’d buy a ST for that one….wall to wall Comedy Gold!

    • Watty will never come back to Ibrox because he will not operate in a cashless, loan player environment or without his Apprentice – Fat Sally.

Fat Sally lost his legend status big time with the hordes when he “managed”. Watty is too smart to make the same mistake.

Hence, also why Henrik should never return to a Celtic as manager.
