I was surprised to hear Darryl King on Clyde stating on Clyde 1 Super scoreboard that it was “quite commonplace” for two contracts to be awarded to footballers.
This was news to me, but then again I’m not trained or qualified in this subject.
I called a UK tax consultant with whom I have spoken before when writing about the use of Employee Benefit Trusts by Rangers.
When he listened to this audio clip I asked him how normal was to make contractual promises about payments into an EBT or to provide a written assurance that loans from an EBT do not have to be repaid.
His response was unequivocal “Yes that would be ‘normal’ if you wanted to implement an illegal tax strategy!”
