Clear and present danger.

Denial is the default setting for humans in trauma. I have written on this site and in other mediums for over a year about the impending Rangers tax case. I have been largely disbelieved by people who did not want to countenance that:

(1)    It was true

(2)    They were being told by one of the opposing tribe.

If only they had been told by, say, the club itself…

Oh, ok then…

http://www.rangers.co.uk/articles/20110506/rangers-statement_2254024_2354697

“Although the IBC has no power to block the transaction, following its enquiries, the IBC and Wavetower have differing views on the future revenue generation and cash requirements of the Club and the IBC is concerned about a lack of clarity on how future cash requirements would be met, particularly any liability arising from the outstanding HMRC case.”

This paragraph is very well worded indeed. It is hardly rolling out the welcome mat to Mr.Whyte and his unknown backers.

Finally can anyone emotionally attached to rangers now doubt that the tax case I was writing about a year ago is a clear and present danger to the club?

The ability of humans to remain resistant to a situation even when a tsunami of evidence engulfs them continues to fascinate me.

The tax case hasn’t gone away you know.

The Tier One Tribunal concluded its business yesterday in Edinburgh and a deliberation is awaited in the weeks ahead.

In the meantime Mr.Whyte and his specialist advisers have a busy schedule ahead as they balance the books as best they can before any tax bill crystallises.

If that bill arrives it will be for Mr.Whyte to work out how the club pays it.
