Amoral manoeuvres and stunned steongraphers

The mood was funereal tonight on BBC Radio Sevco.

Chris McLaughlin, who had been particularly adamant about the inexorability of McInnes to Ibrox sounded as if he was in shell-shocked mode:

“The news that probably no one was expecting.

It has taken most people by surprise.”

Really?

Well, I’m not one of them Chris.

Nor would my many readers be stunned at this development in the Sevco sitcom.

However, let’s not rake over the coals on this one as I’m not detecting any appetite for that.

I think a period of healing is required.

Kenny McIntyre said “none of us could have predicted that this would have been the outcome”.

Well Kenny, I did predict it.

I stated quite clearly to my readers that the Sevco High Command were not in a position to meet the compensation demands of Aberdeen FC.

Only Michael Stewart contributed to the cause of veracity by constantly making reference to pesky facts.

Hat tip Mikey.

Tonight the Pittodrie club put it all to bed.

You can read their statement here.

Aberdeen is a proper football club with a great history.

In my opinion, Derek McInnes has made the correct call to have nothing to do with the shambolic five-year-old-club.

If the luminaries of the Fitba Fourth Estate are stunned at this news, then my readers are almost certainly not.

Regular visitors here have had a contemporaneous account of the machinations of the Holding Company vehicle apropos this embarrassing clusterfuck.

How many days have the Sevco High Command been searching for a new manager?

The answer is, of course, 42.

If Pedro was on borrowed time, for say, a fortnight before the fateful day then that’s a long time to be without a permanent manager.

When the loveable Portuguese spoofer was sacked a high-Level plan was hatched in a glib and shameless manner.

Use the shills in the local media to unsettle the Aberdeen manager and he would walk out of his job.

It might take a few weeks of incessant speculation, but he would ultimately cave in under the pressure.

This way Sevco would get the manager from their nearest rivals without having to pay them compensation.

If I didn’t know any better it is almost like the chaps in the Blue Room are amoral amateurs being assisted by craven venal hacks.

However, I’m sure there must be a Quintessentially British explanation that just exudes Unsurpassed Dignity.

Yes, there must be…

  1. Whats your thoughts on this timeline Phil

1.After pedro is sacked, some of the sevco board want McInnes, but the DoF says he has contacts down south that he can contact and see if they would be interested, so the sevco board take their time.
    2. In that time Murty does well but the DoF contacts all refuse because of the lack of salary & spending money
    3. Murty falters so they look again at McInnes but know that they need to stump up the full 1m to be able to talk to him.
    4. But the board don’t have access to the 1m so if they were to make a hap-hazzard approach to AFC (like they did this week) and look like fools before the AGM, they would have got a kicking at the AGM
    5. It wasn’t the 2 Aberdeen games they were waiting for to pass, it was the AGM.
    6. At The AGM, King puts his fellow directors in a corner by implying that they know who they want. king hopes this will push the Directors into their own pockets to fund the 1m.
    7. The Directors are angry about being put in this position and refuse. King’s only hope is that Derek will put pressure on Milne to allow discussions to take place after Sevco made their call on Tuesday to AFC.
    8. AFC don’t budge, Sevco can’t find the 1m, game over
    9. Sevco board looks incompetent and clueless

  2. Phil, Perhaps if other bloggers were less obsessed with your nomenclature, ethnicity, genealogy and domicile and instead of bleating like a stuck-pig about your chronic out-of-the -loop mendacity on this matter, looked at what you actually had to say, they may very well have considerablely less egg on their faces. Nobody in particular, just a general observation.

  3. It does ti’s remind me of one of our old multi cultural songs by the Dubliners

When I went down to aberdeen town to see what I could see, I saw a manager standing outside my ground where our Derek should be, well I walked up to him and he kindly said to me, I am Derek who lives inside that house where ibrox Park should be,,,,,,,,,,,

well king old king it’s a familialiar song that I have heard before, it’s coming soon that administers knock on their door.

goodnight from Del and the Dubliner please link to the original you can connect the tune?⚽️??

  5. What you have been reporting here was obvious to anybody, willing to look at the facts!

Michael Stuart (as you point out) being an exception.

I actually can’t stop laughing, this gift just keeps of giving and the show ain’t stopping here! ??????

  6. I wonder how genuine the approach was? King might be glib etc however I doubt he is completely stupidso he would have known Aberdeen would never have accepted a compensation package on the never-never, especially when it might really be never, but having sucessfully sufficiently destabilised the Dons long enough to secure much needed six points to draw level with them, he can now also say that they tried to get their first choice manager in. Won’t say much for their second, third or whatever choice does come in. If I was the betting type, my money would be on Murty.

  7. as I previously stated – sensible fans down Ibrox way can now look forward to Murty carrying on his rather splendid work. Why seek a manager when a very good one is already in place

  8. It’ll be interesting to see how the smsm spin this out now. They’ll be declaring he wasn’t good enough or something to that ilk. Alas I’m sure the shills will rise to the challenge and explain to us mere mortals how they called it right. It’ll be interesting to see who breaks ranks first and actually reports it like it is, that there is no money in the pot, cold shoulder eventuality, funds to be advanced from NOAL No transfers in until players sold as was in end of year accounts. And that breaking even was reliant on an advanced run in Europe. Will they also report that any share issue won’t benefit the club/transfer budget as its to repay soft loans and will also dilute existing shares

  10. Hi Phil:
I had a quick scroll through Sevco media to see how the gullibillies were taking the news. Many were embarrassed, with many others scathing of their Board and somewhat glib Chairman.
What was astonishing was the level of self delusion among many others, spouting that he real reason for McInnes telling them to jog on was one of the following:
The job was too big for him.
    He lost his nerve.
    He can’t take pressure.
    He has no ambition.
    He has previous with Sunderland.
    He wanted a million pounds.
And lastly, “We told him he couldn’t bring his Fenian assistant!”
    Hunbelievable!

    • I read some of these, it’s so funny. “Realised the job was too big” “could have been a legend, won’t get this chance again” etc. etc. They still think they are a big club!
Out of Europe before the Glasgow Fair, no cups, no manager, no prospects, loads of debt, run by a liar and crook. When will it sink in?

  11. If they ever really die, in the sense of never coming back – where are all the laughs coming from?
Sevco forever, up to their knees in lies and BS!

  12. Well said Phil. Chris McLaughlin and Tom English are an embarrassment and as for Kris Boyd, I feel desperately sorry for the bloke. I actually replayed the show on the podcast to make sure what I heard the first time was actually real.

Michael Stewart nailed it when he said there are more than two clubs in Scottish Football – Aberdeen are a fine club with ambitious plans and a great history, as indeed are the Edinburgh Clubs who have raised the bar with their gleaming stadiums and bumper crowds. These three clubs, along with Celtic, who set the benchmark, are a fine example of what Scottish Football is capable of on very limited resources. As for The Rangers, I can only quote the late Ian Archer!

I think today can be summed up as RIFCs Suez Crisis – the day they realise they are not the ‘International’ force they think they are!

  13. Football won tonight fellow Hoops…I have just had a glance at the Sevco Media website, and they are all in denial. “He isn’t our sort of manager”, not a big enough “name”. This is the sort of bull pish that is being peddled on this cheap fans forum. However, I was reading down through all of the “peepul” and the one comment that said it all, I found a sevcoian with half a brain? He said, the support should wake up and smell the coffee, the reason McInnes didn’t come to our club is that it is in major trouble, and the board are clueless. Also seen another thing that may also have a major ring of truth to the development is, that is assistant is a RC and that may also have scuppered the deal, as Ra (Sevco) didn’t want him, only McInness. The Sevco have not got a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of. Club is dying, but not fast enough for my liking…

  14. It appears that Sevco were unable to supply Deeky with well-polished brown shoes. (Apparently there’s an outstanding bill at local shoe shop.). Any available funds had been spent providing footwear for Kaiser Dave and cohorts for AGM. The good news for all decent sevcoites is that the green light has been given for 14 million pound development. Perhaps the blue suited chaps know of some grants available. Other good news is how the peapill have reacted with great dignity on being shafted again in managerial hide and seek. Dave Basset anyone ?

  15. If they were looking for a successor to Pedro a fortnight before his dismissal , does that mean that they have reached the mythical 55…..days?
