So still no white smoke.
Small mercies at this stage.
I’m told that Martin was back in the building last night, where the interviews are being held in London.
Make of that what you will.
If O’Neill wants this job for the next season, then it’s an easy win for the club.
The narrative that King Dermot wants to rub our noses in it because his Dauphin of a son was heckled at the AGM is becoming difficult to dismiss.

As with all absolute monarchies, it will come down to the whim of the king.
This isn’t what Fergus McCann wanted when he disposed of the old board.
Dear reader, if this is to be Celtic’s new manager, then the last season might be viewed as a golden age of unity when compared to what was about to unfold.

The euphoria of watching Callum Osmond running towards an open goal seems a very long time ago.
For the avoidance of the BDS movement, covers working in Israel or playing sporting matches against them.
In the 19th century, my kin in Contae Mhaigh Eo developed a powerful weapon of resistance despite being occupied by a global superpower.
It gave the English language a word that is still relevant today.
B is for Boycott.
As in BDS.
This fine fella from Donegal speaks for many of us.

This isn’t complicated.

While I am pleased to see MON back for another year he has served Celtic well. There is only so much he can give. He’s not going to live forever and I would hate if the stress involved in managing this club shortened the remaining years he has left. Let’s not be too greedy and let him complete this year with a succession plan in place. While he seems to have been rejuvinated by his last two appointments at Celtic he deserves his retirement and moving into less stressful punditry in the future.
As an Irishman I worshipped Robbie from the terraces playing for Ireland, however his choices have left me with no doubt that he should not be allowed any where near Paradise. He does not have the character to lead our club.
A simple situation being over complicated. You have a manager in place, who answered the call and came in to steady a badly off course vessel of a club not once, but twice. A manager who picked up the pieces of a disillusioned dressing room, not to mention a growing number of disillusioned supporters. He goes on to galvanise the squad, whilst the support put their disillusionment to the side to get fully behind the team.
Somehow between them, the manager and his backroom team win an unexpected League and Cup double. The Celtic support played their part, whilst the board were virtually anonymous. After all that, a certain individual at the club who appears to think he owns the club, thought it would be a good idea to interview somebody else first.
Events of this week have convinced me that Dermot Desmond is a clown when it comes to doing what is best for Celtic. The man most qualified for the job is staring him in the face, but he wants to speak to somebody else first. O’Neil had earned the right to be spoken to first. Desmond direspected him, pretty much like his boy disrespected shareholders and fans at the AGM.
Although Robbie Keane clearly splits opinion amongst the support, I have nothing against Robbie Keane. I keep my judgment on managerial matters simple. I want whats best for my club. When I weigh up the managerial credentials of Martin O’Neil and Robbie Keane, it’s a no brainer. Martin O’Neil all day long. Shame on you Dermot Desmond for turning a straightforward situation into an unnecesary shambles.
The fact that you pretend to have no opinion on a despot mercenary joining the club you claim to want the best for sounds a little insincere to me……sorry I meant to say bs.
Hear hear.
I don’t think the order matters or signifies anything. You could equally frame it as giving the whippersnapper the chance to make an impression for the next time the job becomes available, and then bring in the person you want to actually give the job to.
Will be very interesting to see the fallout from this if Keane does get appointed even before the season starts. Everyone on the board has to know by now that if this goes wrong, then they’re facing the mother and father of all storms. And even if it goes relatively well, and they win the league and maybe 1-2 cups, that there will be a section of the support lost that will never return. Those are high stakes. DD probably won’t lose any sleep over it either way, but others will and may bail rather than face it.
Some of what you write may be true , but we have got to remember, MO’ N will be 75 in this coming season . Is a 75 yr old manager the right man to take us forward .Celtic Collective has in correctly given fans too much power.. Their power isn’t necessarily good for club ,as fans want so many different things, they can’t all be satisfied
What power ?
The Celtic Collective is a fans group that is pretty much ignored by the board.
We are ruled by the whim of a man with only 35% ownership of the club.
Your comment is, quite frankly, nonsense.
