The human cost of celebrity feudalism

It would be a brave soul who goes out tonight dressed up as a Mountbatten Windsor.

Dear reader, this is what the British fixation with celebrity feudalism ultimately delivers.

By accident of birth, a historically fortunate family finds itself at the top of the shambolic unwritten constitution.

At its core, it doesn’t matter if the recipient of this undeserved elevation is a paragon or, as in this case, a predator.

I’ve noticed that the self-appointed child protection heroes in the Ibrox klanbase are conspicuously silent on the paedophilia of yet another Mountbatten.

Such disgusting deference!

As a citizen of this Republic, I cast my vote last week to elect our 10th President.

Viewers in Scotland have their own programme.

It should be noted that any Westminster MP or Holyrood MSP has to swear an oath of allegiance to the Saxe-Coburg Gotha family.

Here it is:

I swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Charles, his heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God.

What some people will do for a seat on the gravy train!

For the avoidance of doubt, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor is still in the line of succession to the British Crown.

In all of this, the suffering and courage of the late Virginia Roberts Giuffre cannot be forgotten.

From an early grave, she carved out a sort of justice.

What this shameful saga does is to shine a light on the archaic shambles that the Brits call a constitution.

I think it’s fair to say things are a bit different here.

My newly elected head of state is from a large Galway family and grew up in social housing.

She also wants to be Uachtarán for every Irish citizen on the island, not merely in the 26 County polity.

Our journey from Free State to sovereign Republic is a long one.

Consequently, I’m looking forward to reading David McCullagh’s new book on that particular journey.

During the Brexit phase one negotiations on the Withdrawal Agreement in 2018, British Prime Minister Theresa May was told by our gallant allies in Europe that they couldn’t sign off on the deal until Dublin gave the OK.

I suspect it wasn’t the answer she was expecting!

That was a truly historic moment.

For the first time in a millennium, a polity on THIS island held sway over Westminster.

That moment had a long backstory.

The long road to restoring all island sovereignty is in the final stretch.

It is the earnest hope of your humble correspondent and his new head of state that the next presidential election here will be a 32-county event.

Catherine Connolly will become Uachtarán na hÉireann when she takes this oath of office:

In the presence of Almighty God, I, [name], do solemnly and sincerely promise and declare that I will maintain the Constitution of Ireland and uphold its laws, that I will fulfil my duties faithfully and conscientiously in accordance with the Constitution and the law, and that I will dedicate my abilities to the service and welfare of the people of Ireland. May God direct and sustain me.

As a Gaeilgoir, she will take her oath as Gaeilge.

She will do so at Dublin Castle, which was once the centre of the British colonial administration for his island.

It was a place of dread where torture and murder were commonplace.

The ceremony is on November 11th.

Lest we forget.

  1. Excellent summation of the ‘Windsor’ family problem called Andy and the subsequent madness of having an unwritten constitution.
Bring on a Republic of Scotland to stand alongside a 32 county Ireland.

  2. I will say it again here…we would do better in this space to leave politics and the waywardness of others aside and enjoy beautiful football. Too many times does this forum engage with the dark side of Britain, Ireland and particularly our neighbours south of the Clyde. Let’s not stoop to their level and engage in noisy politic. We support the Hoops and their standards. Let our own standards aspire to theirs.

  3. Mountbatten was the one who introduced his nephew Phillip to Elisabeth. On their first date, Phillip was 18,the future queen was 13.

I’m delighted Catherine got elected, and to win by such a margin was a big middle finger to the media who were desperately trying to come up with smears that would stick .

  5. So Andrews loses his titles because of a story which came out involving his pedo mate Epstein.
Charles, his big brother, just happened to be best pals with Jimmy Saville, the biggest pedophile in the UK.
Charles was introduced to Saville by his favourite uncle Lord Mountbatten, another known pedophile.
Its as if the whole family are sick, perverted family.

      • You should check out Andrew Lownie’s book ‘The Mountbattens’. He and his wife had an open marriage and he was bisexual.

He was also a visitor to Kincora Boys’ Home in Belfast which has become notorious.

  6. A story which of course began at a well-known person’s Florida home where her father was the maintenance manager.

Who knows where it might yet end….

  7. The disgraced former Prince cannot be the only celebrity involved in Epstein’s celebrity paedophilia gang. Shouldn’t there be a full investigation in order to reveal the identities of the others?
