Are Sevco managers a dime a dozen?

I was saddened to see this planned demonstration announced by the valued Union Bear community.

Very sad indeed.

No doubt the planned demonstration will go ahead with military precision and in the best traditions of the heroes of Mboto Gorge.

Football, as the immortal Jock Stein observed, was a part of the entertainment business, and he sent out his Lions to entertain.

Now, in fairness, it cannot be denied that the reign of the Enlightened One at Ibrox has been entertaining!

However, with the guys Stateside, it’s about the dollars.

Always the dollars.

So if young Master Martin is for the shove what’s the number?

Therefore, I reached out to a well-placed source to gauge what the bottom line would be to dispense with his hilarious services.

I was sent the following message:

“1.5 years’ salary if instigated by the club. That’s for his backroom team as well. That HAS to come out of Stewart’s budget”.

Dear reader, I have no reason to question the integrity of this source or their access to such information.

Whatever happens, it’s about the dollars.

Always the dollars.

Consequently, Sevco’s new owners are emotionally distant from the cultural concerns of the Ibrox klanbase.

It would be wise to keep that in mind.

THIS JUST IN!

“The club continues to back the manager”.

Always the dollars…

  1. And at some point is anyone, anyone at all, going to ask how will yet another manager fare differently to the Admirable Warburton, Master Murty, Pedro, Gerrard, Giovanni, the Spoofer Beale, Steven Davis, Clement and, of course, Barry? They’ve all tried. They all failed. None of them were good enough.

  2. The Galacticos of Govans next generation aboard the USS SEVCO appear to have warped sped into a clusterfuck of universal proportions with William Riker at the helm and a Ferengi for a CEO they appear to be boldly going forward as they can’t find reverse.
Meanwhile aboard the SS Shieldhall under the stewardshipt of Chairman Mao we somehow Managed to navigate or way through yet another self procured asteroid belt at Warp Factor 4 in a row whilst chasing 7 of 9 our troubles seem to be evaporating like a phaser blast set to stun the onlooking Romulans in the MSM.
It’s a far Trek from the glory days of the 60’s 70’s and 90’s of course but future generations may look back on this from the safety of a Holodeck with a large bowl of Jeely n Ice Cream that’s yin or twa the size we currently have today Ken?

  3. If it`s all about the dollars then “They” are in the classic conundrum, they can`t afford to sack him but, can they afford NOT to sack him! Lovin every minute of it.

  4. No elite level manager would touch that job as it’s a thankless task. It’s been a poisoned chalice for a long time now as their previous periods of success were built on a false narrative. The incessant demand and desperation for success from their club officials and fans continually forces knee jerk and poor decisions on and off the pitch. It doesn’t look like that kkkulture is changing yet.

  5. The reason U.S. investors are ploughing money into any old crap is to protect themselves when the $ collapses.

Better 50 cents in the dollar then fec all.

    Trump that.

  7. Mr Martin should get himself out of there in my humble opinion and not concern himself with the likely deficit in dollars. The toxic levels appear to be rising by the day. Don’t be surprised if they all turn up at the big hoose with pitchforks and torches singing Martin Martin get tae f%uk, Martin get tae %cuk.
He’s never going to win them over HH

  8. The cost of removing Martin plus back room team is only one aspect of the total cost as there is the cost of replacement . Only an out of work manager would be relatively cheap but even they may need a signing on payment and as the saying goes “you get what you pay for”. A decent in work replacement will have a severance payment at his current place of work plus a guarantee of a healthy transfer budget to turn the stalling ship around.
Anyone doing due diligence will know this is a poison chalice, even ex players aka Derek McInnes were smart enough to body swerve their approaches in the past due to the toxicity of the challenge.
Boycotts may actually help the team on the park with less vitriol pouring from the stands although it would hurt the blue £ when merchandise and match day income take a hit along with Europa league ticket purchases.
As is the norm those captaining the ship are stuck between a rock and a hard place but if it all goes breasty dumplings up they can always call Tesco
Banter Years episode 13 may be a doozy

  9. Surely there must come a time when they have to give someone a longer shot at doing the job. The gap between managers is becoming shorter and by the end of the decade they could reach 56 of them. HH.
