GAA PALESTINE STATEMENT

The following is a statement from GAA Palestine released on Instagram tonight (Monday, 14th July 2025).

Just after this statement was released, a senior person in GAA Palestine messaged me with the following:

“If nothing is agreed by 5 pm tomorrow, the window of opportunity will have closed.”

Regular readers will know of my involvement in GAA Palestine.

I was part of the team here in the North West, facilitating the tour in our corner of the island.

Dear reader, I can’t go with the paperwork excuse on this.

It’s shameful.

  1. Has the DOJ really taken a deliberate decision to leave these Children to the planned extermination ghetto and herodic infanticide that will be completed over the next four weeks? How about applying the UNCRC?

  2. Hi Phil. Is it the documents required for children who are not travelling with their parents? This is a child protection protocol that is enforced to the letter. There is a part of us all that probably thinks in this instance, this could be, or should be relaxed because of the circumstances. But, if that is the reason, then I firmly believe that child protection comes first .

    • Your speculation is wide of the mark.
All appropriate paperwork, witnessed by a notary public, has been submitted on time.

      • Hi Phil,my speculation is from the statement from the department

“Applications made on behalf of minors who are not travelling in the company of their parents must be supported with evidence that appropriate child protection measures are in place during the visit.”

I’ve been involved in underage GAA teams for 30 years, I know the hoops that we have to go through to go on trips(not overseas) and I absolutely agree with every hoop that is part of the process. I appreciate and respect the massive undertaking that this very new club has taken here. Unfortunately they are dealing with a government department who employ unmotivated and uninterested civil servants who have been zero help and that is embarrassing and it’s shameful. I’ve a feeling this will be sorted and I’ll be there with all of my tribe to watch them play in Good Counsels ground

        • This from a senior member of GAA PALESTINE today:
“The correct documenation has been signed by the parents naming the chaperone with a photocopy of the chaperone’s passport attached.
“These have been witnessed by a notary public.
“All GAA safeguarding protocols have been followed.
“All is in order. There is no ambiguity”
The same person said to me that the deadline for this matter to be fixed is noon tomorrow Dublin time.

          • That is in contrast to the spokesmans statement I quoted above. This is indeed shameful. Where are the GAA? Where is the government?Have they offered help? I know they ll be all over taking credit if it’s sorted . There is a stench of bad faith here and probably more. I’m gutted for the people involved including yourself . I really hope the media maybe a friend in this instance .

  3. My only assumption is that they’re especially afraid of annoying cheetohead at the moment, given their past willingness to swing at Israel to a degree. Possibly especially afraid of the Pharma companies being forced home or specific tariffs being added and the subsequent impact on jobs and taxes. That said, with the way things are going if he can afford to annoy another ethnic grouping before the midterms is open to question.
