Beautiful Sunday

Oh, where to start with this?

It’s all too much!

First of those before the schadenfreude commences from Dún Na nGall, a massive hat tip to the Spiders.

They were magnificent, and the featured image is a moment that those players and the Queen’s Park fans will remember for as long as they live.

As the final whistle sounded, the blue seats of Ibrox were already in full view, as the Dunkirk spirit had broken many of them.

The thing is, at the start of EVERY season now, the primary objective of a Sevco manager is to prevent Celtic from winning yet another treble.

When it comes to the race for the title, many of the more sentient members of the Ibrox klanbase know in their nativist hearts that they’re simply the second best.

Consequently, the cup competitions are of huge significance to them.

That is one of the reasons for the emotional meltdown yesterday.

Even dear Philippe, usually an oasis of Continental calm at the basket of assets, used the F word in his post-match presser.

Yes, dear reader, the bad F Word, worse than feck, you know the one I mean.

Fierce stuff.

When it comes to the Kremlinology of the Blue Room, we must always follow follow the money.

Quite simply, it will be rather expensive to sack dear Philippe and his entire flying circus.

The man himself has a severance package on a par with Mr Giovanni.

That severely dented the non-existent cash reserves at Sevco.

If Paddy Stewart and the Sevco High Command tell the baffled Belgian that his reign of error is over, they might have to seek a borrowing facility that has eluded them so far.

Then, there is the small matter of the Elite settlement.

Actually, that’s probably the only time the  E Word can be used in the same sentence as the club formed in 2012.

I’m told the agreed figure is £1.7m per annum for the next five years.

Of course,  that legal surrender by the Sevco High Command did allow them to place the coveted Free From Litigation Cup next to the bike and the ceramics.

It’s worth noting that the defeat yesterday also ruled out any more prize money from the Scottish Cup this season.

This isn’t an inconsequential fact at a club struggling for working capital.

At a presser last week, Clement admitted that he wanted to bring Lyall Cameron in the January transfer window, but the club made a “financial decision” to wait until summer.

Perhaps it is fitting to give the floor to one of the People.

Now, seriously, have a great week!

  1. Since the turn of the century, Celtic have won 31 major domestic honours and are odds on favourites to add two more in the coming months, in that same time period, rangers, both old and new, have picked up 18, some of them by proven nefarious tactics, are they really a rival any longer?, they’ve won 3 of the last 42 domestic trophies, same as St Johnstone and yet, inexplicably, they STILL play “ simply the best”, before every game, it’s beyond delusional at this point.

  2. Let’s not get too carried away with the result and the likely all change scenario about to unfold in Govan.
I see the dream team of Gerrard and Rooney are being hailed as likely saviours, wow!
Captain fantastic in midfield with Rooney leading the front line.
    What could possibly go wrong?

  3. What I love is the pain of the Scottish hacks . As Clement said , u said I was great 3 hours ago ,
The tough interview is more about the disappointment of the Scottish hacks who look like fools more than t he result

  4. Clement never praises any of the opposition when beaten,a sore sorry loser who doesn’t realise the angry Klan don’t care much for stats, At least the Liverpool manager had praise for Plymouth after what must have been a sore one to take but the Queens Park win is one to savour for a long time to come it really was the most beautiful Sunday.

  5. Say what you like about Peter Lawwell…but today he played a blinder in announcing the tens of millions of pounds of profit for Celtic FC , for 6 months , the day after the tribute act were pumped from the Scottish cup and when the reality hitting home for everyone connected with theRangers that they really do not have 2 pennies to rub together . Brilliant timing Peter ..now you are cooking with gas …

  6. Days like yesterday don’t come around that often so lets be milking it for all we can.
Queens Park thoroughly deserved to win, despite the rangers managers lack of praise for them.

And what about the VAR team. Credit is due to them for the valiant effort that they put in to doing everything in their power to get the rangers a goal.

But it just wasn’t to be. Tav pen couldn’t do the business so it ended up a historic victory for the spiders from mount florida. Girfuy 💚

  7. The truly scary thing for Rangers fans is that they are getting further behind Celtic. We know that Ranger’s title came from a squad that the club could not really afford. Since then Celtic have finished 4 points ahead (2021-2) and then 7 and 8 points ahead in the next two seasons. The current lead is 13 points and that looks sufficient to deliver title 55 in May.

If I were in charge at Rangers I would try to attract the best Scottish talent that I could and hope that some were world beaters. At Celtic I would aim to reach title number 60 as soon as possible. After that all Rangers could boast about would be League Cup wins!

  8. George Foreman described a near-death experience following a combination of severe heatstroke and a comprehensive defeat by Jimmy Young in Puerto Rico in 1977 as “being in a hellish, frightening place of nothingness and despair”. This is where most Sevco enthusiasts find themselves today. George himself experienced a religious epiphany as a result and turned his life around to have a remarkable second act. Unfortunately this is extremely unlikely to be the response of most Sevconians. For them, there is now no way out of this hellscape. All they can do is snarl and lash out like the dying animal they are.

  10. There is nothing in Scottish football that unites fans of Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, Celtic,Dundee, Dundee United & beyond, like an injury time Sevco Scotland penalty being saved to knock the Quintessentially Brexit British “Rangers” out the cup.
    A glorious moment

    • Their attendances have been running at a 93% average which dropped to 69% yesterday, a chasm when your profit margin is minimal or non-existent. The season ticket gap approaches.

  11. I’m filling up with that “The Rangers”* supporter’s heartfelt plea. The worse Cup result ever ever in their History (since 2012 that is). If there is a God he’s got a hernia through laughing last night. What a performance from Queens Park’s goalie. Lest we forget.

  12. It shouldn’t go un-noted that stoppage time had expired, and then some, when the dubious ‘penalty’ was awarded. A lame attempt was made at justifying a retake but the video evidence against such finagling was irrefutable. The ref’s only option then was to extend stoppage time even further to allow the corner to be fully played out. Credit where it’s due, unlike some of the men in blue, the men in black gave 100%.

  13. An incredible day that will go down in history you really couldn’t write that script and get away with it, it had it all. The consequences are not just an end to domestic prize money and income from the various streams that accompany a run to a Cup Final . Match day income will plummet for the remaining league games and odds of 40/1 and 14th favourite to win the Europa Cup leaves their hopes of winning that as slim to … you know. The new CEO said yesterday to judge him in 18 months time , good luck with those ST sales that will be out in a few short weeks . The most likely replacement if they are forced to sack Clement is their new Assistant from Morocco who just signed a 3 year deal . The banter years are still rolling
