Well, it’s been quite a week on Planet Fitba.
Watching the Ibrox klanbase surfing a wave of moral outrage after the League Cup Final has been an amazing sight.
According to some of the poor dears, Machiavellian match officials are all out to get their beloved Rainjurrz!
Let’s just say that the irony is off the radar.
It’s all very illuminating apropos their worldview.
Essentially, officiating errors, for that is what it was, aren’t meant to happen to THEM.
It is exceptionalism 101.
Yesterday, dear Philippe even told a room full of the Fourth Estate that all of European football was talking about the penalty incident.
Bless…
Sadly, there is a darker aspect to all of this.
Yesterday’s excellent ACSOM podcast featured the Follow Follow message board.
Scroll to 11 minutes for Paul John to introduce the item.
It is always advisable to believe people when they reveal themselves.
Ironically, that is more likely to happen when they are cloaked in anonymity.
Back in 2008, the same message board fabricated an entirely false and defamatory narrative about your humble correspondent.
This ugly lie has since become an article of faith among the Ibrox klanbase.
I dealt with the provenance of this falsehood at some length in Minority Reporter.
Ultimately, the fabrication said nothing about me but revealed so much about the anonymous heroes who propagated the lie from behind their often ridiculous avatars.
Over two decades ago, the message board phenomenon was part of an exciting sigmoid curve in the online fan ecosystem.
Now, it just appears tired and undeniably toxic.
One of the many positive things in the podcast revolution is that people are out there as themselves.
This is a new format in the demassification of mass media that Alvin Toffler had imagined back in 1980.
For the day that’s in it, I was outside looking due east this morning at 09.20am ‘neath an Irish sky.
The featured image encapsulates my Christmas and New Year in one moment of solar geometry.
It’s an event that meant so much to my Neolithic ancestors on this little island.
Newgrange, older than the Pyramids and Stonehenge, shows how important the rising sun was to these farmers.
So, enjoy the turning of the year, dear reader.
We all need the light.
Especially those who are cloaked in the cultural darkness of supremacism.
Help is available…
Perhaps our club should do the decent thing, to end sevco’s misery…?
Our club could publicly admit that we won the League Cup through poor refereeing.
…and that the club thanks The Scottish Referees’ Association very much for their efforts,
and Merry Christmas to the men in black.
And, then watch ibrox spontaneously combust! 🙂
Just awful in 2024 that this can happen to someone putting their view of an incident that happened during a football match .
The Scottish media have played a huge part in this since Sunday
Pandering to the unhinged remarks from people like Ally McCoist and Kris Boyd in the media
Which only inflame the lunatic fringe at Follow Follow .
Who are now targeting John Paul due to his home address being published and are responsible for the criminal damage to his property .
Thank you Phil for highlighting this issue
I hope John Paul does take action against those responsible as they do need to be held to account .
Before someone does get hurt .
Brilliant and well scripted article Phil…💚
I am quite naive when it comes to a lot of things regarding social media. I am a big Celtic fan but I also quite enjoy watching and listening to other fan forums and podcasts.
Not knowing a great deal about the follow follow forum apart from the obvious, I thought I would have a go at signing up for it, just to see what kind of stuff was on it.
Well needless to say I was not successful but judging by what I’ve heard and what you say here Phil, my life is probably a much better place without it 😆😆😆
Through X and other sites I have attempted to have a civil debate with many a bear but it is virtually impossible, it can very quickly descend into me being called fenian @&%#@ Pedo @&%#@ etc etc etc.
Thank goodness for sites like yours where it is possible to comment without getting into all the crap that there is on other blog sites.
All the best to you and yours 💚🤍🧡
Know where you are coming from when being correct, they are in error so you get called Fenian this and Peedo that.
Wife of 7 years is 53yrs old, non drinker, non smoker, abhors Big Macs and KFC she looks 10-15 years younger, wedding photos show a beaming very happy lady, huge smile.
Only ranger fans seeing my photo on social media call her a child, that is more a reflection on them.
The mindset of an entitled group when losing ascendancy/power/influence and more is scarier to them since reality is sunlight.
When you’re used to privilege, equality feels like oppression.
These peepel behave no differently to KKK members and are on the same level of development, emotionally culturally and intellectually.
Scottish society enables it, by looking the other way, or worse by encouraging it.
This is the real Scotland’s SHAME.
What aJP of the fantastic ACSOM is highlighting is happening in various places throughout Scotland. It seems the successful path Celtic are on & financial strategy that Celtic are implementing will only be the sorry excuse for the Klan to make it worse & the woeful Scottish media are pouring fuel onto this fire. The people who work at HOLLYROOD in the Scottish Parliament NEED TO TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY & implement tougher measures against these Neanderthals
Clement has been hobbling along for some time. That performance is a crutch for him and the fickle fan base. Not sure if I want to see him fall in January. But he does have a loser’s vocabulary, which even after a little lift in fortunes, the blue noses must find is repetitive and tiresome.
Phil,
Their salty tears are the seasoned gift that keeps on giving.
I was behind the goal at Celtic Park in October 2010 when Wullie Gollum awarded them a penalty, despite having his back to the action and missing the Ran*ers player diving. Oddly, neither of his Linesmen spotted the dive.
Now, that’s what I call “really, really poor” and “unacceptable”.
Here’s wishing everyone a Cool Yule and a Preposterous New Year.
Hail and Hail again!
I’m living in Italy…nobody’s heard anything
Day 7: The meltdown continues….
And it’s not just the whole of Europe that’s talking about the Scales/Cerny incident. The North Korean government interrupted their winter break to come back to discuss this outrageous injustice. I also understand that it will be the prime topic in Donald Trump’s inaugural presidential speech.
A merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to Phil and his many followers.
