It must be a dream to be in a presser with dear Philippe.
He has no filter, is gloriously off-message and shoots straight from the lip.
Savour this, if you will.
Boom!
Now, dear reader, consider that the above had been said by a CELTIC manager.
The local hacks would be in a feeding frenzy.
Plus ça change…
This was no aberration for dear Philippe.
In a presser last week, he even referenced 2012, the annus horribilis of the Ibrox klanbase, when their beloved engine room subsidiary pegged it.
Now that the…err… little legal misunderstanding has been cleared up, Sevco has accepted what it owes to Elite’s administrators.
The only details missing from the public realm are the final bill and the payment schedule.
I’m going for a ballpark figure of £6.5m and somewhere around 30-90 days for the first tranche.
The defeat by the displaced Ukrainian side is starting to look more and more consequential.
A question:
Will the Copland Stand be open if there is an “early” return to the building site that John Brown played for?
Would a three-sided Ibrox be a cheaper option than renting Hampden?
Especially if there are, say, issues between two lots of catering vendors and some niggles around signage at the national stadium?
These are, of course, questions that the local media should be asking.
Meanwhile, Sevco’s blunt Belgian remains of good value.
Dear Philippe might have supped from the Loving Cup, but he certainly isn’t drinking the Kool-Aid.
Part of the problem with going with 3 stands open, is that they still need time for the grass at the Copeland Road end of the pitch to recover after being under metal pitch protector all Summer. It is only a couple of metres of the pitch but it stretches from touchline to touchline. The grass will not start growing until they lift the metal pitch protectors which provided the “runway” for the large crane. It might be possible to relay that section of the pitch. I have no idea how long it will take for the turf to settle in. Can you imagine the histrionics if someone trips over the join in the six yard box? Penalty to rankers – It’s a certainty.
If a three sided Ibrox opens at the end of September, then that’s not really what you could call, job done, is is. The idea, as I understand it, was to improve the stadium for disabled fans. If the Copeland Rd stand is not in use when football resumes then there will be serious questions to be asked about completion of the project.
Is Phillipe the de facto manager of rangers or is he not? He’s asked a question about Hagi and Cantwell, responding that the former was turning out for B team and Cantwell was not. Pressed further at the presser he implied that it had nothing to do with him. Very strange response that! Everybody knows that Cantwell is a narcissist and a clown. What serious offence did this fallen deity, commit against Mordor ,the Orcs and the cloven hoofed ones? You’re absolutely right regarding Phillipe’s pressers. What a Hoot!
Word is they’re close to a return
After international break seemingly
“Pegged it …” in both senses of the word! Nice one, Phil.
Thank you Phil for all the news about Sevco/Newco.
Aged 69, retired past 9 years out in Asia where I have been living and working since 2004 your posts brings smiles.
Taking all your insights and writings since the inception of the new club, company, boiler room subsidiary, see in my thoughts a hospital patient with IV’s inserted barely awake, unable to speak, sick, but, curable if correct medicine and regime followed.
Then I see the relations outside the room some smart, educated, but, shouted down by fellow relations just in from an afternoon session in a bar.
Doctors and nurses doing what is needed to keep patient alive until the disjointed family make a decision.
Two options …
One leads to demise
Other leads to amputation where the patient survives but will never be the same again as remembered.
Same as your books Phil, the scenes and happenings created in thoughts are vivid.
After the worlds most expensive extra seats have eventually been finished, how many seasons of arse cheek use will it take before they run into actual profit? It must surely be “quite a few”.
If the Crumbledome does reopen at the tail end of September, and the Copeland Road Stand is still closed, then the issue clearly isn’t the late steel shipment. According to the Daily Ranger, okay!! I know, I know!!! According to the Daily Ranger, the third and FINAL shipment of steel has arrived. Now my understanding is that the entire project was meant to last around six weeks. So, if all the Lego, sorry steel, IS here, why would the work not be finished?
Now, as JimBhoy has indicated, if that stand did NOT reopen, they would have to reimburse the ST holders. That would cost bawbees that they simply DON’T HAVE! My personal take on that one, is that they would offer them a reduction on next season’s ticket. In other words, kick the ball down the road, and start next season at even more of a financial disadvantage!!
Ach, it’ll probably ALL reopen next month and all will be hunky dory!! I’ll now hit send before the laughter makes me too shakey to hit the key!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Been saying it from the start. Next season or closure of the stand are the options.
Time costs money, money saves time, no time no money, time is money, double time is double money….something like that.
I’m sure that will go down well with the erstwhile chairman the pesky Belgian speaking out of the narrative
I’m sure the MSM poodles will assist in soothing the narrative .
Must not upset the natives .
These pesky suppliers wanting paid, what are they like eh?
Well if they go with 3 stands I assume they compensate a few thousand fans. At least at Hampden they can accommodate all their sb holders whether they turn up or not
